Victor Olofsson Proving To Be What He’s Supposed To Be, But Also More

Vegas Vic(tor)

It’s fair to say Victor Olofsson is on fire. Vegas Vic scored a goal in all three games on the difficult road trip and after a scoring correction was credited with a second one last night in Minnesota.

The four goals in his last three games bring his total to seven in 11 games on the season and he’s quickly emerged as one of VGK’s most dangerous weapons. Most of his damage (4 of the 7 goals), has come on the power play where he has re-assumed the role as the “one-timer option” on the right side.

The most important of his recent goals came on the power play in Winnipeg when Mark Stone fired a pass across the goal mouth allowing Olofsson to rip one into an empty cage. He’s quickly becoming used to receiving incredible passes from Stone.

Honestly, not surprised because he’s been hitting me with a lot of good passes this season. I’m always ready there and that was just a great pass. -Victor Olofsson

His coach has been focused on other parts of his game, and Olofsson has also impressed there.

What I’ve learned is he’s a more conscientious player than I probably would have given him credit for in terms of board work and stick details. That means you can use him in different situations, it’s not just hiding him against certain lines or finding spots for him against other teams weaker defensive pairs. You don’t have to think about that. -Bruce Cassidy

Cassidy has begun to show more trust in the 29-year-old Swede. In the home game against the Oilers, with the ability to dictate the matchups, Olofsson played nearly eight minutes of even-strength time against Leon Draisaitl.

Olofsson’s analytics have been strong since his return as well. He’s positive in almost every category and has seen his offensive zone start percentage drop to 54.9%, less than Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl, and Brett Howden.

Simply put, he’s been impressive in just about every way. Cassidy now wants to see it continue for longer stretches.

He’s probably fresher than most of the players out there because he missed time. That’s the advantage of missing time. He’s got a little more zip than some of the other guys on both sides. But it’s not just the goal scoring, there’s lots more to his game than that. -Cassidy

The opportunity will be there for Olofsson as long as he continues to take advantage of it. His success on the power play has been massive for VGK to this point and as lines are shuffled he’s likely to keep being called upon to play alongside the likes of Stone, Eichel, and/or William Karlsson.

The sample remains quite small, just 11 games in a Golden Knights uniform, but early returns couldn’t be much better.

I like the kid. Vegas Vic huh? Pretty cool. The FO just keep plucking these little gems out there in the league to help us when needed. Big homestand coming up. 3-4 teams are just a few points behind us. Gotta go baby!

    • NAM

I give the FO some credit for finding malleable players, but Cassidy is turning offensive throw-aways into actual 200 ft players. No better example than Eichel and I am sure he and the other help out as well.

  2. Butch Cassidy

It’s great to see the hidden gems play better than the $5.5+M passengers that make up 2+ lines of this team.

Speaking of VGKs minor league affiliate the Sabres, this would be a good time to fleece em they are sweaty and desperate.

    • It’s funny you should mention that….i have been harboring thoughts if we could somehow plucky Tuchy from the sabres dead hands… what could we offer is another small detail lol!

      • The hockey God

Tuch likes the Buffalo area, and he still doesn’t know how to lift the puck. Pass.

It’s no secret that Democrats have been prioritizing illegal aliens over real American citizens in a variety of ways for many years. This is especially apparent in the sanctuary city laws that have gotten completely out of control in blue states like California.

Now, even California’s former Governor, Jerry Brown (D), is admitting that these sanctuary city laws have gone too far. Brown was governor of California from 2011 until 2019. During that time, he signed a bill that limits cooperation between cities and federal immigration authorities.

This bill helped to create sanctuary cities all over California that are safe havens for illegal aliens. Years later, however, Brown appears to have finally realized that he made a huge mistake.

    From Daily Caller:
…The former governor also appeared to distance himself from the policies being passed in sanctuary jurisdictions like San Francisco and San Diego County, which don’t provide the same level of exceptions for illegal migrants involved in heinous crimes.

“The bill that I signed had a number of exceptions. There were people who were convicted of violent crimes, or even serious crimes who were not getting any benefit of any so-called sanctuary,” Brown said of the legislation he approved. “So it was a matter of having state officials handle state-level matters, and not try to play, like they do in Texas, that they’re federal officials.”

“Subsequent legislation has taken it broader, and some of the cities, like San Francisco, have gone way, way beyond in their effort to create a wall, almost a separation of state and federal government,” he continued. “I think that is going to prove difficult.”

On Election Day, Democrats lost not only the presidency but also the House and the Senate. This was a clear referendum on the Democratic Party’s entire agenda. Indeed, the left’s approach to illegal immigration was a huge part of that. American voters are tired of leftwing lawmakers prioritizing illegal aliens over the lives and safety of real American citizens.

      Democrats Will Never Learn
Despite this, Democrats still haven’t learned their lessons in many blue cities all over the country. Two days before Brown admitted that California sanctuary city laws have gone too far, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors passed a “super sanctuary” bill. Needless to say, this board is controlled by Democrats.

t appears to many of us that ALL YOU DO is come on this site to trash the same poster over and over, after they make hockey comments on another poster’s comment. It’s getting old. You never make any positive input in these exchanges. People here are sick of you bashing the same person over and over just because they don’t agree with another poster’s comments. Your posts are always the same with nothing absolutely added. It’s getting tiresome, why don’t you give it rest. And NO this isn’t about “if the other person does this or that” then “you will do this or that”. This is ABOUT YOU. And your posts are making you look terrible.

You know your constant comments AFTER one poster here is tiresome. Why don’t you give it a rest. No one comes to this site to see you post the same repetitive garbage that you do after they post. Your posts are basically meaningless. Why don’t you focus on hockey, seems like you have a clear behavior disorder that transcends normalcy. Take a good look in mirror because you are not doing yourself any favors.

          • TS

George, you must be a Maggot. If you think the Political shit is OK, yet you object to any of us who detest the god’s politics??? Are you a Hockey fan?? Well, we ARE. and the god’s political VOMIT is NOT hockey!! It is HATE

I’ve seen you, Top Dog and his other invisible friends immediately respond to any objections i have to the fake God’s Hate Politics. On cue, like clockwork.
Curious, huh?? Why is that, Georgie??

Please stick to comments about hockey.

I was just telling my wife about reuniting with Alex Tuch and it looks like I’m not the only one thinking that. The Sabres are a joke 14 years without a playoff appearance with all the high draft picks they’ve had. Tage Thompson wouldn’t be a bad pickup when they dismantle the team.

    • ThG

Tuch likes it in Buffalo area, he has ties to area. Plus he still hasn’t learned to lift the puck. Hard pass. Forget about it.
