A brutal start for the Golden Knights had them feeling like many teams did in T-Mobile Arena throughout the regular season. A goal just 65 seconds into the game put the Jets up one, then a tough call against Alex Tuch led to a second goal for the Jets on the power-play, then the sixth goal review went against the Golden Knights in the playoffs to put them down 3-0. Brayden McNabb struck quickly after the reviewed goal to give the Golden Knights at least a bit of life. Vegas got off to a good start in the 2nd, but couldn’t get one to go. Another power play goal gave the Jets a 4-1 leave. The Golden Knights struck back with a power play goal of their own by William Karlsson to head to the second intermission down 4-2. Vegas controlled play for a bit of time to open the 3rd, but yet another penalty took the control away and forced the uphill climb to be even more uphill. The Golden Knights had a couple of good chances after pulling Fleury, but couldn’t get one to go.
Upcoming stories from the Vegas Golden Knights vs. Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 of Western Conference Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs at Bell MTS Center.
- Can’t start slow against this team. Situation obviously makes a difference, but the back 50 minutes of the game VGK controlled the game.
- Uncharacteristic 1st period went way beyond the score.
Three Stars
*** Mark Scheifele
** Dustin Byfuglien
* Blake Wheeler
Need the "must-win" Golden Knights in Game 2.

So Marchessault's goal doesn't count, but that one does? Guys in Toronto are completely clueless. Flip a coin and hope people don't complain too much.

May not have been much "Proof through the KNIGHT" at the Bell MTS Center but we sure yelled it in theater 4! #CupIn1 pic.twitter.com/fXHYOwiqdc

Man with all due respect I don’t know what game you were watching, but the Knights did not ‘control the last 50 minutes’. They played better sure, but Winnipeg is a big fast team and it will be a tough series.
