Praise Be To Foley, Vegas Golden Knights Hockey Website

Recap: The Golden Knights hosted the top team in the Pacific Division to a Thursday night battle from The Fortress. Vegas got into early penalty problems and Vancouver took advantage. The Canucks opened the scoring with a power play goal and followed it up with another one :55 seconds later. The Golden Knights stopped the bleeding in the frame and trailed 2-0 heading into the opening intermission.

Michael Amadio cut the Canucks lead in half quickly into the middle frame. Vegas was awarded a second period power play after Shea Theodore was held by an opponent. The reigning champions were held to one shot on net and failed to tie the game. Vancouver regained their two-goal advantage late in the frame.

Trailing 3-1, the Golden Knights couldn’t generate enough offensive chances to catch up to the leader in the Pacific Division.

The Golden Knights record drops to 33-23-7 losing to the first place Vancouver Canucks 3-1. Vegas will remain at home to face off against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. Puck drop against the Red Wings is scheduled for 7 PM.(Recap by Jason)

Analysis: Many of the same issues cropped up in this one as we saw in the recent road trip. An early rash of penalties put them behind and then by the time they finally got going it wasn’t enough to erase the deficit. The biggest issue in this game was the lack of forecheck which turned into a wide open neutral zone going the other way. Not going to beat a good Vancouver team doing that. (Analysis by Ken)

2024 Trade Deadline Roundup

  1. Richie-Rich

    Game 63 Analysis VAN 3, VGK 1

The Golden Knights have lost 5 straight home games and continue to bleed out despite getting new faces (Mantha, Hanifan). The new faces made no difference whatsoever as the VGK continued to make poor passes, turnovers, and for the majority of this game failed to establish any sort of OZ presence.

The days of fast skating and crisp passing have been long forgotten.

Is this team in a funk, or is the desire simply not there? They certainly have the skills, but the effort simply isn’t there. You can’t coach effort. That has to come from within.

Next up the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at home. The VGK will be looking to break the 5 game home losing streak. Detroit is in the 1st playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 72 points and a GF/GA of +16. They have lost 3 in a row. They are two points behind the Flyers for the last playoff spot. After getting beat by the Blue Jackets, there’s no such thing as an easy night.

Playoff Teams as of 8 March
    1-VAN 89 (17) .685 +51
    2-DAL 85 (18) .664 +36
    3-WPG 83 (21) .680 +42
    4-COL 83 (18) .648 +43
    5-EDM 78 (21) .639 +39
    6-LAK 73 (21) .598 +25

Wild Cards as of 8 March
    7-NSH 75 (18) .586 +10
    8-VGK 73 (19) .579 +14 (4th place in the Pacific Division)

CGY, SEA, & STL trail the VGK for the 2nd wild card spot with 67 points. With 19 games left, the VGK needs to start pointing up some points if they are going to remain a contender for the postseason. In the last 10 games, only the San Jose Sharks has a worse record.

    • Richie-Rich

Detroit is in the first wild card spot in the east, not playoff spot.

    • duckboy

This looks like the list of games I made….

This road trips is not what you want coming up:

      12 3/25 A-STL**
      11 3/26 A-NSH**
      10 3/28 A-WPG*
      09 3/30 A-MIN***

      STL should be must win.
if we get more than 2 pts on this trip its a bonus.

That brings the total to 18 points of MW which gets us to 91, if we win all. (laughing) thats about 3 to 5 pts short of where the safe zone is.

Signs of life need to occur on Saturday.

      smells like spring 2022…..

      • Richie-Rich

Definitely. I would say that both STL and NSH should be must win.

  2. The story continues too little too late. Many collecting a play check, unfortunately not earning it. Whitecloud and Hague are turning into liabilities. The team has lost the mental attitude to win. Sloppy play cost them the game. Only positive Vancouver didn’t score on empty net. PP remains the Achilles heel. They need a win to get their shit together. Maybe Saturday will be different hopefully. The door is closing.

    • ThG

don’t know what game you were watching, but whitey and hague were not on ice for any of goals, new guy was on ice, theo blew it on second goal

      WAKe UP

  3. Rashaad

Last year Vegas went 22-4-5 in their final 41 games without Mark Stone. I took a random game down the stretch (Game 76 last year vs the Minnesota Wild) and this was their lineup. They were also missing Reilly Smith, William Carrier and Shea Theodore.

    Barbashev – Eichel – Marchessault
    Cotter – Karlsson – Roy
    Amadio – Stephenson – Kessel
    Howden – Blueger – Kolesar

    Martinez – Pietrangelo
    Hutton – Hague
    McNabb – Whitecloud

    Scratches: Dorofeyev, Pachal
Injured : Stone, Carrier, Hill, Smith, Thompson, Theodore

So if that lineup was kicking ass then they should be fine with tonight’s lineup.

    Barbashev – Eichel – Marchessault
    Stephenson – Karlsson – Mantha
    Cotter – Roy – Amadio
    Morelli – Froese – Kolesar

    Hanifin – Pietrangelo
    McNabb – Theodore
    Hague – Whitecloud

Injured: Stone, Dorofeyev, Carrier, Martinez, Howden

So we can use injuries as an excuse but last year they were able to win with players out of the lineup.

    • DeezNutz

What a shocker that Carrier was out yet again. We need to trade his ass once he’s healthy we can’t rely on him whatsoever

    • Richie-Rich

Isn’t 22+4+5=31. Did you go to CCSD public school?

  4. Jose

Still probably an over 90% chance they make the playoffs but is this not making the playoffs thing starting to become real. I’m still stunned by that game against Columbus. I thought their schedule was weak, but upon a second look, they’re playing teams that are fighting for their playoff lives.

    Next few games.

    Detroit (fighting for playoffs)
    Seattle (fighting for playoffs)
    Calgary (keep winning, pride)
    New Jersey (fighting for playoffs)
    Tampa (fighting for playoffs)
    Seattle (fighting for playoffs)
    Columbus (playing for nothing)
    Nashville (fighting for playoffs)
    St. Louis (fighting for playoffs)

I wonder what it’s gonna look like after those nine games.

    Pistol Pete where are you?

    • Richie-Rich

PP can’t handle negativity. There’s been little to cheer about for quite some time. I am a realist. Repeating is hard, tanking after a world championship happens more often than not.

  5. Bolts1

it is not too late…….to trade the entire fucking team, that is

they still have until noon today to weed out the loafers, the halfass effort floaters, the we did it last year but the mojo is gone now crew.

Vgk has devolved into flag football pokecheckers, with no fire, no desire, and no chance.

instead of bringing in fire breathing sparkplugs, they bring in more lazy floaters.
and the hang back system plays right into the no forecheck problem.

Penthouse to outhouse in record time.

that will be their legacy unless a miracle attitude turnaround happens, but that ship has apparently sailed.

thanks for the memories, turn out the lights, the party is over.

    • ThG

      what’s a flag football pokechecker?

      racist comment ? (jk)

    • DeezNutz

If I’m the GM I’m letting every single UFA walk including Marchessault. I’m not rewarding this lazy team whatsoever. Here we have a front office ready to do whatever it takes to make this team better even if that pisses the rest of the league off and these guys can’t even perform to their contracts. Pacioretty was right. Playing in Vegas becomes a country club for a lot of players and they need to weed them out and ship them off to Canada.

      • knights fan in minny

good thing you’re not the gm numb nutz you know nothing i thought you were done watching vegas hockey

  6. ThG

VGK stumbled and fumbled through that game worse than genocide joe slurring and giving his bull shit campaign , hater, speech last nite.

new guys brought very little, one made bad penalty, and vgk gooning it up in first period cost them the game. Hill shaky again.

    • Tyler Durden

      Suck a dick (knightsfaninminny too)
      Ken must be proud

      • knights fan in minny

turden the piece of shit with nothing to offer

      • TS

        Tyler, come on…pretty perverse comment.
There are ladies on this site, dude. Me, included. Keep it somewhat clean, okay??

  7. TS

Playoffs? Even if, by chance and luck, we make the Playoffs, just how far would we go, given how badly we’re playing? Maybe it would be a gift if we DIDN’T make it…why embarrass themselves by another fanny- whacking for the national audience to ridicule? IDK, but their level of play is not gonna win another CUP. Not this year.

    • JB

Don’t be so sure TS. If we get in, anything can happen. Playoffs are a totally different thing. The desire comes back for the defending champs. But, we must first make the playoffs. I still believe that we will!

      • TS

JB, I really WANT to feel optimistic. But the level of play has deteriorated so much, and with it, their attitudes, it seems. It has become painful to watch. This season has been a mixed- up, injury- plagued one, I just hope Casdidy doesn’t get the AXE because of it.

  8. Tim

I’ll start this post with Demko is a really good goalie unfortunately we have trouble scoring against all goalies it’s been our problem all year. Hopefully we pick up a winger who can put the puck in the net.

  9. Earl the Replanted Transplant

“You miss a 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – The Great One

The VGK have been consistently outsourcing by opposing teams and gues what they’re losing.

Bring back Coach Lil Jon to remind the team what they need are SHOTS!

    • ThG

      @ Earl
get out the caddy SUV time to take a run for the cartel?

      • Earl the Replanted Transplant

Haha. We need shots, I know I am not the only one in the realm that keeps screaming “shoot the puck” while watching. The VGK are not taking shots when the should. Trying to play all fancy setting up plays and then there is a sloppy turnover and boom another goal against because the opposition takes shots. Nothing wrong with sorry greasy goals.

Please excuse the autocorrect issue in me earlier comment. Outsourced should’ve been out shot.

    • TS

Earl, perfect!! Shots, shots, SHOTS, guys!!

  10. Bobby

Maybe we can refuse to hand over the cup, hide it in one of those Fremont st underground mob vaults.

    • knights fan in minny

      love it

    • TS

HAHA Bobby!! The Binions can assist them! (Um…are there any Binions LEFT?) I’m STILL waiting for Ted’s silver, got a cut of the take!!

  11. Rashaad

Well here we go again. Doubt this team or its front office and they make you look stupid. What an incredible trade deadline. Now it’s up to the actual on ice product to get results. I can now back off the ledge. Let’s go!!!!!!

    • knights fan in minny

time for the boys to look in the mirror and decide who they want to be
