Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to win back-to-back games as they hosted the Central Division’s Utah Hockey Club. Utah came out quick and scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the game. They would later take advantage of an Ilya Samsonov mistake and score twice more before the break. After twenty minutes the Golden Knights trailed 4-0.
Utah continued to tilt the ice in the middle frame. The visitors scored twice in the opening five minutes of the period to carry a commanding 6-0 advantage into the second intermission.
Vegas had a few chances to cut into Utah’s lead in the final twenty minutes but couldn’t find the six games needed.
The Golden Knights record drops to 15-7-3 falling to Utah 6-0 at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas will next hit the ice on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)

I have to say that the fan reaction to Samsonov was disgraceful. These games happen, and they happen to some of the best goalies in the league.

Ilya Samsonov sucks. When Adin Hill was struggling to start the season, I was telling anybody that would listen that they need to get him back on his game because Samsonov will not be the answer.
For anybody that has read my posts they would know that they are never negative and I am always praising the front office because I truly believe it is the best one in the league. However, signing Samsonov was a mistake. Part of me not generally being negative is that I don’t react game to game and to small sample sizes. For example, Hanifin has been shit, but he’s been a stud for several years so I know that he is going to snap out of this funk.
Dominik Hasek could have played tonight and Vegas was still losing this game. Samsonov had a couple of great games against Ottawa and Philadelphia and stole a couple of points. However, I’ve watched him in Toronto where I reside for most of the year and I’ve seen the large sample size and he is terrible. I know that Ken disagrees with me and while I respect his opinion, I believe he is doing what most fans do and reacting to a small sample size and recency bias, which was Samsonov‘s past two games.
Here are some facts that some may not be aware of. As hard as it is to believe Samsonov was actually worse than this at the beginning of last season. The Maple Leafs sent him to the AHL exposing him on waivers and hoping that somebody would take him off their hands. He spent three weeks in the AHL but he did not play one single game. You could all look this up to confirm if you wish but the thought process was that he was so bad they were even afraid to let him get killed in the AHL because they figured he would then be completely finished. His time in the AHL was spent working with a goalie coach and team psychologists. I thought he would never be back in the NHL again, but to his credit, he got himself back on track, but he was never really very good. Something else to consider is that the Washington Capitals drafted him in the first round and then they non-tendered him, didn’t even bother, giving him another contract and just let him be a free agent. I thought that was strange because his numbers weren’t atrocious enough to support that, but it’s clear that Washington knew what they were dealing with. Toronto eventually learned as well.
If there are any apologists out there who think I am being a little bit hard on him because he played well in his past two games before tonight and the defence in front of him has been very bad, understand that I acknowledge that even a spectacular goaltending display would not have rescued tonight‘s game.
My entire long winded point is that this team needs two goalies that can make saves in front of a good defence. (When they eventually go back to playing good defense) I am saying that Samsonov is not capable. He is not Brossoit snd Thompson.
I love the Golden Knights and I don’t want to be right about this. I want Samsonov to be great and for everyone to let me know it. I don’t see it.
The best front office in the league has plenty of time to figure this out whether it is Akira Schmid or someone they have to trade for.

The defense played poorly last night and Samsonov was trash as well. Both Hill’s and Samsonov’s save percentage is garbage. Neither goaltender is elite. I didn’t think that losing Martinez would have a great impact on this defense, but it is beginning to look that way. The defensive lines were jumbled again last night with Whitecloud out with an upper body injury.
You only need to look at the VGK’s gf/ga to realize that this team is not currently a Cup contender without puck luck.
I did not like the way our fans derided Samsonov last night. The entire team was responsible for that shellacking. Let’s hope it’s not going to become a streak.

Correct. Neither goalie is elite. My concerns are about when the games actually matter most like in the playoffs. My opinion is that when the defense plays well (it hasn’t yet) Adin Hill will be able to make the stops. We have seen that. In the playoffs Adin Hill has a career .932 save percentage in 19 games. Ilya Samsonov is 6-14 in the playoffs with an .897 save percentage. It is my opinion that they need another goalie that is on par with Logan Thompson or Laurent Brossoit to tandem.
I can see your point about the fans being hard on him. If you are from Toronto and had seen that diarrhea up close for a couple of years you would be less tolerant to it. The effort was bad last night but noticeably took a sharp dip after that laughable shorthanded goal that Samsonov gifted to Utah. It’s deflating to a team when a goal like that happens. The sixth goal was more hilarious then annoying as you can’t stop a puck when you are 12 feet off to side of the net.
Players like Hanifin and Hill have been good before so I am confident they will find their games. Hill has already turned it around. Hill’s last 6 games he has stopped 145 out of 157 shots for a .924 save percentage.
Looks like Samsonov will get the Anaheim Ducks game on Wednesday. If he does he is being put in a position to succeed. We all know the Ducks stink. They are terrible at scoring goals averaging just 2.49 goals per game. The Golden Knights are 25-7-1 all time against Anaheim. It’s a road game so his fragile psyche will not have to deal with the fans booing.

The UHC goal tenders are ranked 6th (Vejmelka) and 49th (Ingram) in the league. Apparently they were giving Stauber a look last night and he too advantage of the opportunity, even though he was only tested early in the 1st period before the VGK wagon wheels fell off.
Akira Schmid has played 10 games for Henderson. He’s posted a 3.27GAA, and has a .895sav%. His record is 1-9. The HSK have 3 other goalies.

Last note. Let’s take a look at Thompson. He’s 12-10-1 and ranked 15th in the league with a .911sav%. and 2.56gaa. For his career, Thompson is .912sav% and 2.66gaa.
Hill is 10-4-2 and ranked 28th in the league with .894sav%, and 2.85gaa. For his career, Hill is .908sav% and 2.70gaa. He’s slightly under his average. The Golden Knights are getting what they paid for.
Samsonv for his career has a .903sav% and 2.80gaa. At $1.8million the VGK are getting what they paid for.
I think that an argument can be made at this point, that Thompson would have been the better option. Hill was not considered a starter until the VGK picked him up. Yes, he played well in the Stanley Cup, but It remains to be seen whether the VGK kept the right goaltender.

Logan Thompson requested to be traded. McCrimmon did not wake up one morning and decide it was a good idea to trade away Thompson who was getting paid less then the league minimum and then sign Samsonov for more money. McCrimmon could have denied Thompson his request to be traded and have him play out his contract which would be a better then option then Samsonov but I guess he did not want to have an unhappy player on his team.
The narrative that they chose Hill over Thompson needs to stop because it is simply not true. They wanted both of them.

Joe Biden, Hunter Biden and Donald Trump
Trump reacted to the pardoning of Hunter Biden on Sunday night.
“The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system,” Trump’s incoming White House communications chief Steven Cheung said in a statement to Fox News.
“That system of justice must be fixed and due process must be restored for all Americans, which is exactly what President Trump will do as he returns to the White House with an overwhelming mandate from the American people.”
Earlier on Sunday, Biden accused Republicans of unfair treatment and claimed Hunter was “treated differently” by prosecutors. Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony firearm offenses in a Delaware trial earlier this year, and then pleaded guilty to multiple felony tax offenses in September.
“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” the president’s statement read.

Kash is who I want in the FBI. Pam Bondi and Kash Patel need to restore honor to these disgraced agencies. As for Jan 6th, violent offenders should not be pardoned, but all others should be. Also, there’s no doubt that Captain Michael Byrd murdered Ashli Babbitt in cold blood. He has a past of gun violations and in this case he shot an unarmed person whose only crime was trespassing. This crime must be addressed.

Obama threw Biden under the bus in 2016. He told us all back then, “Don’t underestimate Biden’s ability to fuck things up.” . And fuck them up indeed! His legacy is one of lies, plagiarism and corruption. Now comes the hand wringing and the truth about Biden Family corruption. There’s a reason why the pardon covers a period of 11 years going back to January 2014. That’s when the Ukraine coup happened that triggered Russia’s response. That’s when the bio-labs were put into Ukraine.

Come on. Biden stated over and over and over and over and over again that no pardon would be forthcoming. Once again, he lied. Why? He never thought that Trump would win, that’s why. Now that Trump has won, retribution is coming in the form of Bondi/Patel. Investigations are forthcoming into the Biden family corruption, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I really really hope Stone’s lower body injury is
