Recap: The Golden Knights were looking for their fourth straight win with a victory over the incoming Pittsburgh Penguins. Vegas’ lineup featured a familiar face as former Golden Knight Reilly Smith was reunited with the team via trade. Tanner Pearson opened the scoring thirteen minutes into the opening twenty minutes to record his 11th goal of the season.
Quickly into the middle frame Ivan Barbashev doubled VGK’s lead registering his 19th goal of 2024-25. After 40 minutes the 31st franchise held a 2-0 advantage.
Two minutes into the 3rd period Brandon Saad extended the Golden Knights lead to 3-0. Captain Mark Stone gave his club a commanding 4-0 lead :54 seconds later.
The Golden Knights record improves to 38-18-6 defeating the Penguins 4-0. Vegas will next take the ice on Sunday evening against the Los Angeles Kings. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: The Golden Knights are officially rolling. They didn’t even have their A game for a good portion of this game and they demolished the Penguins. Mark Stone had one of his best games of the season, making plays every time he was on the ice. (Recap by Ken)

VGK are +16 in power play chances in the last 8 games.

Second game in a row where VGK haven't really been at their best in the 1st period but shoot 25%.
Better to be PDO rich than good.

I actually felt bad for the Pens goalie…….

your right Pittsburgh should have made more trades and started the rebuild

First period was really bleh…power play was especially bleh…but the second and especially the third was complete domination in every facet of the game…and a really nice bonus was Smith played a really good game and was impressed with his speed…i think hes happy to be wearing the uniform and be back home!

Pistol Pete I believe it is you to who I owe an apology as I had for some reason mixed and messed up what and how playoff seedings are done…mea culpa!
On a separate note KEN lol… I just cannot fathom nor accept your firm assertion that it makes no difference where we land in the final standings …yes I understand road teams can and do win… but bottom line home ice advantage is a target to be shot at and for…a deciding Game 7 is much much preferred to be at home!

With us dialed in and threatening to win a fourth division title it’s looking more and more like we need to be rooting for the Avs to overtake the Wild.
Sammy scores an SO. His naysayers may want to rethink their perspective.
Saad is continuing to look like a shrewd pre-TD add.
Jack needs to go on a bit of a tear to reach his inaugural 100 pointer.
Pav on pace albeit just barely to achieve his first 50 point season.
10-10-0: 102 pts

Just when Sammy seemed dead and of no use he pitches a shutout. Good for him. We could easily had 8 goals or more. Smitty flying around and had a couple good chances. Nice to see Saad and Person get goals. AVs and Stars load up, for possible first round meeting. Sunday we need to beat LA befit we head east on road trip!

Game 62 Analysis, VGK 4, PIT 0
Pacific 1st Place 38-18-6, 82pts +40gf/ga
Western 3rd Place behind Jets & Stars
League 4th Place behind Jets, Caps, Stars
VGK is 2 pts behind the Stars with 20 games left in the season.
Reilly Smith is back in Vegas! He looked very good out there, no mistakes and played well defensively.
Bottom line, the Penguins are not a very good team. They are not even within sniffing distance of the wild card and are -57gf/ga. It’s time for a rebuild. The VGK kept the pressure on them all evening. Samsonov didn’t face many high danger chances. Overall, a complete 100% effort by all skaters.
This team is going to be dangerous with Karlsson and Theodore back in the lineup. I am extremely impressed with Korczak. Right now I would put him a notch ahead of Nick Hague.
I am headed over to see the Silver Knights play tomorrow in Henderson, 1pm puck drop. I will be in Section 16.
Kings are in town on Sunday! Big game!

Hague should have been traded, VGK has a surplus at D.
Its funny how everyone thinks VGK doesnt have players/prospects to
trade cause they dont have a #1 pick!
Look at the conditions of the Marchand trade.

I am done fantasizing about Rantanen with us, however I must repeat the point I made on the previous thread. What a blunder by the Canes FO. They pull off a huge trade in giving up Necas plus, but bring the player on board without signing him. McCrimmon would never have done that. A player of this status in the last year of his contract you don’t do this mega deal if the player does not agree to sign. And that is exactly what Dallas did. No deal with Carolina unless Rantanen signs. That way you are not stuck with an unsigned asset as Carolina was. The $12m surprises me too, that Colorado did not offer him at least that much. And then the word was Carolina offered him $100m plus, more than the $96m he signed with Dallas. Anyways it’s done now and Dallas should be even harder to beat. Fwiw something tells me Rantanen’s production will decline some from what it was in Colorado. In any case you just manage the puck and cover him. Can’t wait to see how the DAL/EDM game goes tomorrow in Edmonton. Should be interesting.

Are you done fantasizing about no. 16 ? We all know your license plate is 16, you live on 16 North Main Street, Unit no. 16. You have 16 pairs or shoes, with 16 matching socks, all with no. 16 on them. You carry around exactly $16 dollars in your wallet. And 16 gummies in your pocket. You live, dream, sleep 16 , 24/7.
Where’s your buddy Tim ? Call 911 , Tim may need some help.
Meanwhile instead of working with DOGE to get country budget balanced and waste/fraud stopped the lib tard morons are asking Elon Musk be investigate, they are burning Teslas, and their charging stations, they want their endless war in Ukraine to continue. These are not the peace loving Dem hippies of the 1960s. They have morphed into evil, spiteful, cry baby Karens. BTW say good bye to the one of the worst performing departments in Government, dept. of Education. Which has done absolutely nothing to further the education of our children in it’s entirety. With US education measured by any standard dropping, dropping, and dropping. Time to put an end to this garbage.

Turns out state income tax was an issue for Rantanen. Texas has none, North Carolina has a 4.5% one. But it’s said the Canes offered him $100m plus enough to offset the state tax on the $96m the Stars gave him. Obviously Mikko did not want to play for the Canes, at least that was the conclusion he came to after he was traded. The Canes allowed him to hold all the cards. Not very swift!
Pistol Pete
Probably never put on a pair of skates but that does not mean you should not know better than to trade for one off the top forwards in the league on an expiring contract with no inkling of if he wants to live in your locale and play for you. We’ll see if this Tulsky gets canned.

Brad Marchand was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Boston Bruins on Friday.
Boston received a conditional second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft in return.
The 36-year-old forward is in the final season of an eight-year, $49 million contract ($6.125 million average annual value) he signed with the Bruins on Sept. 26, 2016, and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season. Boston will retain 50 percent of Marchand’s salary.

I went to the game last night. There was ZERO Gay Pride gear at the souvenir stands around the stadium. I am livid. I am still shaking!

What has that got to do with hockey? Great to see Smitty back in a Vegas jersey. Now all we need is karlsson back so those two can kill penalties with their 200 foot game. Pete Carolina will probably be looking for a new GM after the MR fiasco.

PP bought it all up before you got there !!
