Pittsburgh started out the period on fire controlling the game and peppering Marc-Andre Fleury’s net. They got on the board first, but then the Golden Knights got hot and scored three straight, including two in under a minute and had multiple other chances. It didn’t take long into the 2nd for Pittsburgh to storm back in as they tied it early. Then, a reviewed goal that went in Vegas’ favor on a Penguin PP seemed to ignite the Golden Knights. A misplay by Casey DeSmith led to Jonathan Marchessault’s first goal, he then tallied another to restore the two goal lead heading to the 3rd. The game cleaned up a bit defensively in the 3rd as William Karlsson got on the board for the first time in a while. Marchessault sealed it with the empty netter to become the 2nd player in VGK history to score a hat trick.

Marchy Hatty! First one of the year for VGK and the 2nd player ever to record one. He took about a 2 minute long shift to get it. pic.twitter.com/C4hRsL1B20

Tremendous shift by the top line ends in their 3rd goal of the night, this one from Karlsson. Perfect tip. What were you saying about their lack of production?

How sick do you have to be if you are Pittsburgh right now. Fleury stones an entire PP by himself and then your backup goalie screws up and lets VGK take the lead. They should give us another 2nd round pick for all of that.
