Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to close out their final home game of the season with a win over the Nashville Predators. The visitors scored early and took a 1-0 lead into the opening intermission.
Vegas’ offense came out firing in the middle frame. Brett Howden recorded his 23rd goal of the season, Nic Roy scored his 14th, and Alex Holtz added his 4th on the power play. After 40 minutes, the Golden Knights led 3-1.
2023 Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Marchessault cut his former team’s lead down to 3-2 quickly into the final frame. Minutes later Nashville evened the score at 3-3. With time winding down Noah Hanifin scored from the point to seal the game and the Pacific Division. With seconds left Vegas added an empty net score.
The Golden Knights record improves to 49-22-9 defeating Jonathan Marchessault and the Predators 5-3 at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas will wrap up their season on the road beginning on Tuesday in Calgary. Puck drop against the Flames is scheduled for 6 PM.(Recap by Jason)
Analysis: One team was playing to clinch the Pacific Division, the other has three games left in one of the worst seasons in recent history. Boy did it look that way too as the Golden Knights put it to the Predators for the first two periods. It got a little dicey, but eventually they found a way to turn the tables back around. With it, VGK have won their 4th division title in eight years and will host the first wild card at T-Mobile Arena, likely on April 20th. (Recap by Ken)

Fourth DT in eight seasons. Not too shabby!
Nice bit of coaching in slotting Stone in on the Karlsson line leading to Hanifin’s game winner.
#1 WC to be decided in the final game. MIN gets it with any win.
I did not know Trevor Connelly is playing in Henderson for the last place Silver Knights. Scores a goal and assist in tonight’s SO loss to first place Colorado. 1G/2A in three games. Not too shabby.

If the Blues lose to Utah in their final game, and if Calgary runs the table versus the Sharks, VGK and the Kings, then the Blues are toast. Calgary can run the table as the VGK and Kings should be resting guys. Would be hilarious if the Blues blow it.

Btw VGK leads the league in RW’s with 45, followed by WPG 43, and WSH/CAR 42. Points to the best 5-on-5 results possibly applicable to the postseason.
Pistol Pete
With the division #1 seed VGK has the luxury option of resting players for the last two games, however they also have the opportunity to stay ahead of DAL for possible home ice.
Martin
You are the only one to recognize this. I don’t know what’s going on with Eichle but I would be playing him if I was the coach if he was healthy. I hope they are not just resting him to rest him. Does anybody else remember game seven at Dallas last year? VGK wins the last two they have home ice though-out

In fact MIN could even take an OTL against the Ducks at home and still win the #1 WC. Looks pretty solid.

it’s retro , resurrection SUNDAY and time for a CLASSIC
The hockey God
Today is PALM SUNDAY , and billions of Christians celebrate this Holy Day marking Jesus Christ entry into Jerusalem which marks his week consistently of the Last Supper, his arrest, his trial, and ultimately his death on the cross at hands of Jewish religious leaders at the time (the Sadducees- They were known for their literal interpretation of the Torah, rejection of oral traditions, and denial of concepts like the afterlife, resurrection, and the existence of angels and demons- and the Pharisees (Sadducees were upper-class wealthy men mostly from Jerusalem who made up the Jewish aristocracy. Pharisees came from all economic classes but were distinguished by their rigid adherence to specific behavior prescriptions arising from their interpretation of the ambiguities in the Torah.). With help from Pontius Pilate who repeatedly tried to shift blame and try to find ways out of his predicament.
Let’s start with the name of Jesus Christ. He was not known as this name at time of his birth. Therefore what is real meaning of name Jesus Christ? he name Jesus, in its Hebrew origins (Yeshua), means “Yahweh saves” or “God is salvation.” The name was given to Jesus by the angel Gabriel, who informed Joseph that Mary would conceive a son and should name him Jesus. The name was a common one in first-century Judea, but it was given to Jesus with a specific and profound meaning, reflecting his mission as the savior of humanity. In the context of religion, particularly Christianity, “Christ” is a title, not a name, that signifies “the anointed one” or “the chosen one”. It’s derived from the Greek word “Christos,” which is a translation of the Hebrew “Messiah”. The title “Christ” is most commonly used to refer to Jesus, signifying his divine mission and role as the Messiah.
Too often in today’s world, these meanings are lost. Back fifty years America was a God fearing, conservative nation. Now due to secularism , and “diversity”, it has become more evil, amoral, and less caring.
Now unto Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, riding a donkey and greeted by crowds waving palm branches, as foretold in the Old Testament. This event fulfills prophecies in Isaiah and Zechariah, specifically Zechariah 9:9, which describes the king coming humbly on a donkey.
Elaboration:
Zechariah’s Prophecy:
The Old Testament prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 states: “See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”. This prophecy is a key part of Palm Sunday’s symbolism.
Jesus’s Triumphal Entry:
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, crowds laid down palm branches and cloaks on the road before him, shouting “Hosanna!”. This act fulfilled the prophecy and declared Jesus as the Messiah.
Meaning of the Palms:
Palm branches symbolize victory, triumph, and peace. In ancient times, people would spread palm branches for rulers to walk over, indicating respect and honor. By using palms, the crowds were declaring Jesus as their king and savior.
Humble Kingship:
Jesus rode on a donkey, rather than a warhorse, to emphasize his humble and peaceful arrival. This contrasted with the expectations of a political or military leader.
A Time of Joy and Reflection:
Palm Sunday is a time for Christians to reflect on the themes of victory, peace, and salvation, setting the stage for the solemn observances of Holy Week leading the resurrection.

Palm Sunday continued
The Sadducees likely viewed the use of palm branches on Palm Sunday with suspicion and disapproval. They would have likely viewed the enthusiastic crowd’s actions as a form of idolatry or a threat to the established religious order, which they strictly adhered to.
The Pharisees viewed Palm Sunday with a mix of antagonism and frustration. They were dismayed by the crowds’ enthusiastic reception of Jesus, seeing it as a threat to their own authority and a sign that the crowds were swayed by him. They also felt that their efforts to counter Jesus’ influence were futile.
Here’s a more detailed look at their perspective:
Antagonism:
The Pharisees were not supportive of Jesus’ claims and teachings. They were actively trying to undermine his influence and, at times, even sought to have him killed.
Frustration:
The Palm Sunday event, with its enthusiastic crowds and claims of Jesus as the Messiah, was frustrating for the Pharisees. They saw it as a sign that their efforts to discredit Jesus were not succeeding.
Perception of a Threat:
The Pharisees viewed the widespread support for Jesus as a threat to their own authority and influence within the Jewish community. They feared that his popularity could lead to a loss of power for them and their followers.
Rejection of Messianic Claims:
The Pharisees were skeptical of Jesus’ claim to be the Messiah, and they did not accept his teachings or miracles as evidence of his messianic status.
Inability to Understand:
The Pharisees were unable to see the deeper meaning and significance of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, either as the Messiah or as the suffering servant prophesied in the Old Testament.
While all four Gospels narrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Matthew’s account is often considered the most detailed and comprehensive, including elements like the fulfillment of prophecy, the use of branches and cloaks, and the hailing of Jesus as king.
Here’s a more detailed look:
Key elements in Matthew’s account:
Fulfillment of Prophecy:
Matthew explicitly states that Jesus’ entry fulfills a prophecy from Zechariah 9:9, which describes a humble king riding a donkey.
Use of Branches and Cloaks:
Matthew describes people laying down their cloaks on the road and using branches to honor Jesus as he entered Jerusalem.
Hailing of Jesus as King:
The crowds shout “Hosanna to the Son of David” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,” which is part of Psalm 118.
Other Gospel accounts:
Mark’s account is similar to Matthew’s, focusing on the use of branches and the crowds’ enthusiasm.
Luke’s account highlights the donkey as a symbol of peace, and adds details about Jesus healing the blind man on his way to Jerusalem.
John’s account is unique: in placing the event six days before Passover and mentioning Jesus’ knowledge of the crowd’s actions.
In conclusion, while all four Gospels provide accounts of Palm Sunday, Matthew’s is widely considered the most detailed and comprehensive, particularly due to its emphasis on prophetic fulfillment and the specific actions of the people in honoring Jesus.

Palm Sunday continued
The Roman occupiers in Jerusalem were likely indifferent or even uneasy about Palm Sunday, seeing it as just another religious event, but also potentially on alert for any potential disturbance or rebellion during the volatile Passover season. While they may have been amused by the crowds’ enthusiasm, they were also aware of the potential for unrest, especially given the history of messianic claims and the presence of Zealots who advocated for independence.
Here’s a more detailed look:
Indifference/Amusement:
The Romans might have seen the scene as a bizarre spectacle, a religious expression with no real threat to their authority.
Alertness and Concern:
However, they were also likely cautious. Jerusalem was known to be a volatile city, especially during Passover, and any disturbance could escalate into a larger rebellion.
Pontius Pilate’s Perspective:
Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, had a particularly difficult situation. He was concerned about maintaining peace and stability while also facing potential pressure from Jewish authorities and the emperor.
Symbolism and Potential for Rebellion:
The crowd’s shouting of “Hosanna” and the palm branches were symbolic of their hopes for a messianic leader who would bring them liberation from Roman rule. This kind of language and imagery was known to inflame tensions and could be interpreted as a challenge to Roman authority.
Jesus’s Entry as a Subversion:
Some scholars interpret Jesus’ entry as a deliberate act of protest against Roman power, a way of highlighting the contrast between their imperial display and the humbleness of Jesus’ arrival.

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”[a]
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna[b] to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[c]
“Hosanna[d] in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

John 12:01-20
New International Version
Jesus Anointed at Bethany
12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you,[c] but you will not always have me.”
9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna![d]”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[e]
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”[f]
16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

The significance of “anointing”
Jesus was anointed before his death, specifically by a woman in Bethany, with expensive perfume, as a sign of his impending burial and a memorial of her faith. This anointing was not just a ritual but a symbolic act that foreshadowed his death and preparation for burial.
Elaboration:
Prophetic Action:
The woman’s act of anointing Jesus, especially with such a valuable perfume, was a way of foretelling his death and preparation for burial.
Memorial of Faith:
Jesus himself recognized the significance of this act, stating that it would be remembered wherever the gospel was preached, highlighting the woman’s faith and devotion.
Symbol of Humility:
The anointing, particularly the pouring of the perfume over his feet, was also an act of humility and devotion, mirroring the traditional act of washing a guest’s feet.
Contrast with Judas:
The woman’s action contrasts with Judas’s criticism of the expense, highlighting Judas’s lack of understanding and his betrayal of Jesus.
Not Just a Burial Ritual:
While the anointing was a preparation for burial, it was also a way of honoring and respecting Jesus, recognizing his unique status as the Messiah and the sacrifice he would make.
Remember when they said Obama was the “anointed” or “chosen one” NOT, Anti Christ like symbolism there.
