Two unlikely heroes emerged as Brandon Pirri scored twice in his second game of the season for the Golden Knights. But it was the more unlikely hero on the other side that emerged as the story of the day. Phillip Danault, who had two goals on the season coming in, scored a hat trick including the game-tying goal inside of the final two minutes of the game. In overtime, the Golden Knights couldn’t get any extended possession and eventually conceded the game-winner.

Gallant just said he thought the Canadiens were the best team they've seen in this building. Said he thought VGK was pretty good but MTL was a step ahead.

Ouch. 2 nightmares against the Canadiens. Good thing that's it for them this year. Mercy.

Brandon Pirri has played in 229 games in his NHL career.
In the first 225 (with NYR, ANA, FLA, and CHI) he scored 3 goals in 2 games once.
In his first 4 games with VGK, he's done it twice.

Vic
I agree with coach. It was a miracle we almost stole 2 points as the Habs were on fire. Tatar looked like Barzal instead of the turnover machine he was last year. They played keep away better than any of the teams out there. We could barely get a shot on goal while Fleury faced barrages. Not the end of the world as other key western teams lost again tonight, but we need to bounce back again. Please, no more trips to the Wolves for Pirri.
