VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4 LOS ANGELES KINGS 1 (27-16-14, 68 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to go into the Olympic break on a winning streak by beating the incoming LA Kings. Team USA’s Jack Eichel opened the scoring early in the opening period with his 21st goal this season. Team Canada’s Mark Stone followed up with his 21st goal as well. Pavel Dorofeyev continued the scoring surge on the power play and Team Canada’s Mitch Marner scored seconds later. LA recorded a goal with under five minutes left in the opening 20 minutes.

Each team traded chances in the middle frame but neither team found the back of the net. After 40 minutes, the Golden Knights held a 4-1 advantage.

The game slowed down in the final 20 minutes with neither team scoring another goal.

The Golden Knights record improves to 27-16-14 defeating the Kings 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena.

Vegas and the rest of the NHL will pause play for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games. The Golden Knights will return to action on February 25th in Los Angeles. Puck drop against the Kings is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: A five-minute spurt of dominance carried the day for the Golden Knights in the final game before the break. Was nice to see VGK have the early flurry rather than giving it up. Hill had a really nice middle period which erased a below average defensive period, but overall the Golden Knights did what they needed to make the big early lead stick. (Analysis by Ken)

Nice way to go into the Olympic break. Up four on the Oilers one game in hand. This game settled a lot of doubts about this team and still missing Howden, McNabb and of course Karlsson who is still not confirmed out for the season. Saad and Sissons missing as well. This is a very good hockey team
still deep even with the players missing. I attended this game. We came out fast and hard never letting up. Excellent checking all lines. Holtz looks for real unbelievably speedy backchecking sequence goes to the net.

    Barbashev-Eichel-Stone
    Smith-Marner-Dorofeyev
    is working.

Karlsson if he comes back changes everthing.

Smith-Karlsson-Marner is line #2 os would Pav be LW moving Smith down to the Hertl line?

Let’s renew some faith in Adin Hill. His best game this season by far 32/33.

1/1 PP killed all five penalties.

Pp, i went to the game, too..That was the most quiet T mobile has ever been! Maybe fans were holding their collective breath, hoping the team didn’t blow the lead. But, despite the scoreless 2nd and 3rd, the guys held the lead.
Hill was a lot better this game. I thought he had much better puck control, few rebounds. Stayed in position better, on his feet more, not on his back as he tends to do.
Kings looked more tired than we did, with both teams having back- to- backs. Back to winning a few !!

thanks to Vancouver for rejuvenating the Vgk offense last night,
and it is obvious that Hill got the memo… he was skating on thin ice if he played like shit again tonight.

and the kid line looked good.

    Game 57 Analysis VGK 4, LAK 1

    Well? FLIP THE SCRIPT!

The goaltending was better than the D in front of Hill tonight for a change! Good for him, he needed a confidence boost. Taking 33 shots and 1 big dinger off his face mask tonight! That’s too many shots!

Excellent way to go into the Olympic break.

  4. Safe travels boys, enjoy your time in Italy. Great way to start of the next couple of weeks – well deserved win.

Great back to back games. Effort was there. I’m ready for the Olympics now. I think we might see Howie and Nabber when they return? Now, go USA!

    • SHS

JB – Cassidy said Nabber for sure, Saad and Sissons next, but Howden (and Karly) remain week to week. I think this means Howie has a serious sprain (they called it “lower body”), to that would put him at 6 weeks. I expect we won’t see Howie until around the early March trade deadline, unfortunately.

Much needed wins. Now rest injured players and hope for a speedy recovery.

Good solid win Hill actually had a good game He might need to find some pick up games around town to stay sharp 4th line again was good Cross your fingers None of the boys get hurt in the Olympics I still think they’ll probably make a move for a winger Enjoy the break

I can’t believe the Kings guy that got hit in the face came back and played

    • TS

Kfim,i was at game, close to the net, and i thought he was having a seizure, the way his legs were twitching so violently. My son has diabetic seizures, looked alarmingly like that.
      The arena was SILENT.
      So relieved he’s okay.

I thought the same thing TS He got hit hard I can’t believe it doesn’t happen more than it does I’ve been hit in the face with a puck before but we always had to have mandatory masks Hockey players are tough sobs Enjoy the break Stay busy Stay cool
