Recap: The Golden Knights hosted the Calgary Flames for a Saturday night Pacific Division battle. Newcomer Mitch Marner opened the scoring :46 seconds into the game, scoring his first goal as a Golden Knight. Calgary tied the game a few minutes later on the power play but Tomas Hertl answered right back for Vegas with a PP goal of his own. Late in the frame captain Mark Stone scored his first of the season to give his club a 3-1 edge.
Quickly into the middle period Ivan Barbashev extended Vegas’ lead to 4-1. Late in the frame Marner scored his second score of the evening. After 40 minutes of play the Golden Knights took a 5-1 advantage into the second intermission.
Stone recorded his second goal of the night 2:37 into the final frame to give VGK a commanding 6-1 lead.
The Golden Knights record improves 4-0-2 defeating the Flames 6-1 from T-Mobile Arena. Next up, Vegas will host the undefeated Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. Puck drop against the Canes is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: For the first time all year the Golden Knights were the ones that come out hot. Marner scored instantly and though Calgary answered back, the Golden Knights were the better team by a wide margin all night. They created dangerous chances at an incredibly high rate and finished off a bunch of them. Power play remained elite, top line was incredible, Marner showed off some amazing skill, and VGK now have the #1 and #2 players in the NHL in points after 6 games. (Analysis by Ken)

Pistol Pete
Congrats Jack Eichel on joining your teammate Mitch Marner in the point a game club 622 pts in 622 games.
Congrats Jack Eichel on evening the score -69 BUF/+69 VGK.
Thank you Mitch Marner for leaving money on the table to come to Vegas to win a Cup. You are as advertised buddy: 8 pts in six games (+7) and congrats on netting your first two VGK goals.
Nice work Adin. Nice to have Carter Hart in the house to give you a little extra motivation!
Pistol Pete
Only sour note is Mark Stone going down the tunnel and not coming back. Fingers are crossed.
Decent defending w/o Hanifin. Korczak continues to show his nose for the net on the Barbashev tip-in.
Marner quarterbacking the PP from the blue line what an enhancement: 9 out of 24. Was he on them all except Karlsson’s? Close enough.
A real test coming up Monday!
Pistol Pete
Make that 623 pts (not 622) in 622 games. Jack is one point over a point a game and yes he is now +/- 0 (-69 BUF/+69 VGK). Leading the league in pts (15).
Mitch is 86 pts over a point a game (749 pts in 663 games). It’s easy to see why. The guy creates scoring.
In watching the game I thought Holtz looked pretty good. Would love to see him win a spot on that line and think he can do it.
TS
PP, Looked like a hand injury. Hopefully just minor

Game 6 Summary
VGK 6, CGY 1
It only took 5 games, but tonight the Marner trade went to the next level. Six goals, great power play. The boys looked fresh all night long. Calgary only pressured the VGK for a few shifts.
Better yet. Hill played extremely well and deserved the 3rd Star of the game. It’s going to take a lot more consistency before he gets back in my good graces. We shall see.
The VGK played almost a perfect game, nearly 60 minutes of hockey. I am not sure that Sissons or Lauzon are any better at chuckin knuckles than Kolesar.
So, Carolina is next? Bring them on!
Pistol Pete
Think it could be a very good thing for Hill and the VGK that Carter Hart is here. A little competition never hurts!
Richie-Rich
I am not overly excited about Hart. He hasn’t played in quite a long time and his off ice issues are going to haunt him. Personally, he was acquitted and what I think doesn’t matter. You put yourself into a situation like that and it follows you, the questions, the looks, the comments, and the drama is with you for life. It’s not fair but it is what it is.
Pistol Pete
Absolutely R-R a long road back however being the eternal optimist I am I give him and Sean Burke an excellent chance of returning him to form and furthermore solving the riddle of his decline in Philly following his great rookie season. He was excellent in the playoffs that year as well. A potential starter job down the road is worth working hard for I like his chances.
He’ll get past what happened. He’s bright. Being bright can complicate matters if you become too introspective on something like what happened but I think he’ll reason his way through it plus his teammates and the coach and GM will be completely behind him.
TS
Those two newbees need boxing lessons! Add Kolesar to that. It would also be wise to pick on guys their own size, instead of 6’8″ opponents! Cringe-worthy!
Emmanuel
Klapka’s a beast!
TS
Scary! I felt i was watching David and Goliath go at it!
knights fan in minny
He should be playing tight end
TS
Where do they grow these giants, anywsy??. I am vertically challenged, and have lost an inch ! I get overlooked at the deli counter! Sucks!
Pistol Pete
Larry and Vic will be glad to see Cassidy moved Saad down to the fourth. I am okay with that and he actually landed the only shot on the line.
Smith-Karlsson-Holtz: Smith no shots/ Karlsson 3 shots/Holtz 2 shots
Would not surprise me if Cassidy puts Howden on the Karlsson line and leaves Saad down. Meanwhile if we can just get Holtz producing some points…who knows he could find a permanent spot on the Karlsson line! That could lead to a Saad scratch when Howden is back in.
Larry
I was at the game tonight and was surprised with Holtz being on the third line and Saad on the 4th.
I have never been a backer of Holtz, but I saw how willing he was at practice today to make an impression and the coaches must see it too.
Outside of a couple of losing stick battles, he made a good impression on me tonight, showed good speed and excellent back checking hustle on several occasions, as well as showing some offensive spark, deserves to be in the lineup Monday.
It may come as a surprise, but I’ve been ever so slightly down on Saad haha, but he was actually better on the 4th line tonight and was not invisible, I’m not convinced after 1 game he needs to stay in the lineup Monday, but at least there was a glimmer of hope.
Pistol Pete
We’ll see what happens.
Howden, Saad, Holtz = depth
Holtz imo has significantly more offensive upside than Howden he just has not quite put it together. I would love to see him win the RW spot on the Karlsson line. He is still only 23!
If Holtz works on the Karlsson line that leaves Saad to fight it out for a spot on the Sissons line. If Sissons does not impress we could even see Saad-Howden-Kolesar.
Emmanuel
Alex the Great is a season away from his 24-28 prime.
Either VGK or a rebuilding team will use him……
I can see 20G/20A seasons in him if given ice time.
larry
I neglected to mention that I witnessed an actual solid bodycheck by Pavel in the offensive zone as the flames were clearing the puck, whatever Cassidy is preaching he just might be listening.
Leonard Wise
It looked like our offense put it together against Boston and it continued tonight. Hope Stone is OK he has been outstanding. It will be good to have a measuring stick Monday. When are our injured comming back. Day to day seems to last forever. Hope Holtz can stick on 3d line did some good things tonight.
TS
At last, a complete game, start to finish! 60 minutes of total domination, really gpod to see the team play well the entire game.
One suggestion: new guys: if you’re gonna pick a fight, do NOT try it against a 6′ 8″ opponent! It will NOT end well for you!
Emmanuel
Sabres have the following on block:
Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and Bowen Byram.
Tuch supposedly off limits.
knights fan in minny
Dahlin Interesting Looks like their whole defense
Larry
I saw the video of Stone hitting the ice and it looked like he was holding his left wrist, was that not the same area that lauzon hit him with the puck just the other day??
VGK fan
Thats a good eye larry, i seem to remember the play too.
Tim
For the last 3 years I complained about our not being able to score and the games were boring. How refreshing it is to see this version of the Knights it’s a totally different team. The addition of Marner looks like it’s elevated everyone’s game.
Pistol Pete
Marner is 86 pts over a point a game that means the team he is on scores more than they would without him plus he is a perennial Selke votes getter plus he quarterbacks the PP from the blue line plus he is a SHG threat on the PK. As complete a player as Eichel. Eichel has that stride and brute strength, Marner has that extra bit of agility on his skates.
ThG
The Cleveland Indians are a bunch of cheaters. I hope Emmanuel Clase is never allowed to pitch again.
TS
Way to hang in there, Tim! Keep the positive thoughts! It’s GOALS, GOALS GOALS!!!
JB
Lost the fights but won the game big! Let’s hope Stoneys wrist is only a sprain and not fractured. Just a damn good game and Hilly was outstanding. If only he can get some consistency? Mitch showing his skills!
knights fan in minny
Good team win even though we did play Calgary and they suck Hilly Stood tall I like the toughness last night especially out of our two new guys Mitch goal number two what a thing of beauty such good hands Mitch could stick handle in a phone booth will carrier And His hurricanes should be a good test for The boys on Monday
Emmanuel
Yes, im waiting to see them against 3 or so good teams in a row, see if theyre the real deal.
knights fan in minny
Love the two shots in the 3rd With Mitch and jack Sitting next to each other on the bench and yucking it up Same with Stone and Tommy H
JB
So nice to see nothing but hockey talk here. Thanks Ken!
Richie-Rich
Whiner. You just have to poke ThG don’t you?
JB
I think you are whining , I was just complementing Ken!
Emmanuel
Wheres ThG?
Hdbiker7851
Showed a great deal of intensity and it paid off big time. 60 minutes of hockey was refreshing. Great win. Marner’ s second goal was a thing of beauty. Credit when credit due.
SMH
Really? A 100% positive / happy / satisfied post from you? I couldn’t have wished for a better present on my birthday today! I’m sure it will all come crashing down the first time that VGK doesn’t win 6-1 and you’ll be back to being miserable and borderline suicidal, but I will bask in it while I can… what a great day to be alive!!
NAM
So he posts about hockey and you can only post about other posters. How are you contributing?
Hdbiker7851
Glad to make you happy – hope you are enjoying the day. Concerning the balance of your post – not miserable or suicidal just a realist who understands the game of hockey coming from a family who have been around and in hockey in all probability longer than you have been alive. Like l said credit when credit due.
Pistol Pete
SMH is one my favorite posters. The voice of reason never unrealistically negative when it comes to the VGK understandably so as this organization continues to make its mark as the greatest most successful expansion team in the history of the big four North American sports.
I am going to the game tonight 222 row D seat 10. Look forward to meeting another SinBin poster if the arrangements can be made. I go to the glass for the warm-up. Larry? Also going to the skate at CNA. Larry/other?
Larry
PP I will be at work during practice, and in front of my tv at 7 pm tonight against a team we historically have problems with, but hopefully we turn the tide on that and Hill has a great game in net.
Parenthetically, actually the best seats in the house are section 223 Row N, dead center ice!
Richie-Rich
My Season seats are in 11, Row M, 13 and 14. I get to see the VGK attacking the visiting D-zone in periods 1 and 3. It’s a great perspective.
Pistol Pete
Oh at CNA I normally go the walkway at the top where the journalists are. Center ice or thereabouts.
Pistol Pete
Larry, btw I saw that hit by Pav. Second summer in a row he went to Connecticut to work with a trainer of his. Physicality is one of the items they work he mentioned it in an interview said players are out to hurt you.
Pistol Pete
I always use Vivid Seats to buy my tickets easier to navigate than VGK Axis. Sometimes the VGK will text me offers and then it’s easier and includes the fees. My ticket tonight 222/E/10 is center ice low 4th row upper level one of the best upper level seats. It was listed at $94 and here is what really surprised me when I went to checkout it included the fees total price $93.75! So whether this is new for Vivid Seats going forward I will find out next time. The fees were like around 25% which really adds up. Was a law past limited fees on tickets?
Pistol Pete
Vivid Seats includes fees in the listed price of VGK tickets due to their “All-In Pricing” feature.
This approach aims to provide transparency to customers by displaying the total cost of a ticket, including service and delivery charges, before taxes, from the moment they start browsing. These fees contribute to the operational costs of Vivid Seats, which include finding and listing tickets, maintaining web security, coordinating ticket delivery, and providing customer support.
Pistol Pete
I predict if TOR does not at least make a conference final the next three years Matthews will walk over to the VGK like Marner did. Can you imagine Eichel, Marner and Mathews on a VGK team? It could happen. Cap is going up and if Stone and Karlsson are still playing they will be a lot less money (current cap hit: $15.4m).
Emmanuel
I believe he was heading to Phoenix B4 they moved…
Wouldnt surprise me if he goes somewhere in the SW USA.
Pistol Pete
Well we are the SW what player does not want to play for this team? Great place to live, great locker room, winning pedigree.
