VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5 BOSTON BRUINS 1 (40-20-8, 88 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to start their three game homestand with a victory over the struggling Boston Bruins. Vegas outshot Boston 11-to-7 in the opening twenty minutes but neither team could find the back of the net. The game was locked in a scoreless tie going into the first intermission.

Midway through the second period the Golden Knights drew a slashing penalty and was awarded a power play. Pavel Dorofeyev opened the scoring with his 28th goal, and Jack Eichel recorded his 60th assist of the season. After injuring his nose, Dorofeyev got checked out in the locker room only to come back out and record his second goal of the game.

Brett Howden tripled Vegas’ lead early into the final frame. Minutes later Dorofeyev completed his first career hat trick to extend Vegas’ advantage to 4-0. Ivan Barbashev sealed the game with his 20th goal of the season.

The Golden Knights record improves to 40-20-8 defeating the Bruins 5-1 at T-Mobile Arena. Next, Vegas will welcome Detroit on Saturday night. Puck drop against the Red Wings is scheduled for 5 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis:  A well-rested Golden Knights team has been unbeatable this season. They are now 7-0-0 with at least three days off before the next game. The game was a bit sloppy to start, but the power play kicked VGK into gear and then they feasted on Boston’s willingness to play a looser game. Adin Hill was outstanding in the goal as it could have looked a bit different if he had let one or two through in the first 30 minutes. (Recap by Ken)

    Where do I begin?

First time we sweep the Bruins.

My call on Howden has proved out for now. He looks to belong as a wing on the Karlsson line. Pearson/Olofsson-Roy-Kolesar.

Saad looks to really work on the Hertl line.

+2 for each of Dorofeyev and Hertl and Saad.

    Another two pointer for Hanifin.

My goodness Pav. Your maiden full season. 30 goals via two hat tricks. 50 points is within sight.

Jack will have to hump to get to 100, but two more this game is a start.

The VGK rejoins WSH, WPG and now DAL as the only teams to have twice or more many regulation wins as regulation losses. Again, expect losses. A very good season for example 50-25-7 (107 pts) might have one regulation loss for every two regulation wins, in fact often a fraction more than one regulation loss. Losses can be ugly or not so ugly.

    • Pistol Pete

Oh Ken. It was Pav’s second career hat trick!

    • Pistol Pete

Had no idea coming in Saad so effective on the PK. Heavy 215 lb. a very good skater, fast. Has won a couple Cups too.

Pp, your Doro support is, as usual, warranted and well-earned, as you have been correct about him all along! Despite the poster who finds your confidence in Doro a problem somehow, most of us find your inside knowledge enlightening! Carry on!

      • Pistol Pete

Thank you TS. Always the lady.

        • TS

Pp, THAT is a Top Tier compliment!! I DO have a sailor’s mouth when poked and provoked by an unnamed poster, but otherwise i get along with everybody!
          . Thanks for that!!

    • PP…. Before you start celebrating and pontificating of your call of stating Howden should be on the wing and Roy centering the 4th….if you check the archives for that particular day it would show I ‘pontificated’ on that before you ever did….just saying lol!!

    Game 68 Analysis VGK 5 BOS 1
Pacific 1st, 88pts, +42gf/ga, 3 pts ahead of the Oilers with a game in hand
Western 3rd behind the Jets and Stars
League 4th behind Caps, Jets and Stars

Wild Bill returns to the Fortress! Pavel Dorofeyev lights the lamp 3X. Hill almost gets the shoutout. I have to admit, Hill stood on his head in the first half of period 1 as Boston was applying pressure everywhere in all 3 zones.

With the exception of the pressure in period 1, the VGK played extremely well. There are 14 games left. Next 3 games are at home. Detroit is next up on the schedule. The VGK were shutout in Detroit last Sunday. Time to repay the favor.

Well rounded game. Pavel hatty and 30 goals for season. A number of guys played very well. Hilly solid. Will Bill looked good, skating solid. Payback vs Detroit Saturday coming!

  4. Pistol Pete

I think this team could be hard to beat in the playoffs. Just look at the depth. The Eichel line, the Hertl line, the Karlsson line with Smith and Howden on wing (Howden was very effective on the Stephenson-Stone line in the 2023 run), the heavy Roy line, the D corp which has been excellent without Theo, and finally Hill.

Is anybody else curious about Mitch Marner? He holds all the cards with an NMC. Why he could even drift into free agency if he chooses. Do you think he would want to play here? Skate with Eichel? You see how decent we have been with Korczak substituting for Theo and Hanifin picking up the offensive slack. Makes one wonder. Let’s just see how Marner and the Leafs do in the postseason. Could be interesting.

I mean think about it. Where does any player want to go the most? Obviously a perennial contender or one well into a rebuild. Out of all the teams, is not the VGK the one where more players want to go? Good team. Good management. Great owner. A fun place to live. Clark County schools are pretty poor however Summerlin being highly affluent probably has better schools and players on their salaries can afford private schools. Good fanbase. Good place to live.

Vegas is a great place to be! No state income tax, great hockey team! Outstanding weather 9 months out of the year (summer can be brutal). And FWIW, no VGK player would send their kids to CCSD schools (public). They all mostly live in Summerlin in good commuting distance to city national arena. And as for the kids, they are going to private schools, Bishop Gorman, Faith Lutheran, the meadows and the like are places they would go to school in and around Summerlin area ;)

Don’t know that he’ll be able to maintain this pace his entire NHL career but so far at this early point Dorofeyev has nearly matched his AHL goals pace (45/119=31 per 82 games) with 50/135=30 per 82 games. A natural goal scorer thus far.

  7. ThG

congrats to Pavy for hat trick, PP is shitting all over himself. Pete and repete can’t stop blabbering !

    • Jose

A little hypocrisy there ThG. (Repeat and can’t stop blabbering)

The pot calling the kettle black.

      • ThG

Excuse me Joe, but learn to count . PP number of posts today far outweigh the whole combined posts of every one else !! PAY ATTENTION, the Dept. of Education is failing you. No wonder Trump is gutting it !!

Disney is facing backlash from little people actors after the studio opted to use CGI for the seven dwarfs in its upcoming Snow White remake instead of hiring actors with dwarfism. The decision has sparked outrage among performers who argue that Disney has taken away one of the few opportunities available to them in Hollywood.

The only one who needs Depends is YOU. Your fixation with BM’s is revealing and distrubing in so many ways….

  8. Pistol Pete

Obviously Dorofeyev is a central topic in the postgames. Cassidy indicates the playoffs are a test and goes into detail in how strength on the puck has increased with an interesting tidbit on training in Connecticut over the summer. My old stomping ground as a prep school player. How he handles the postseason will be impactful one way or the other. Appears to have been preparing for it all season.

good win hilly was sharp dorfy what can you say stay hot young man roy switched back to center where he belongs

  11. Jose

Anybody here actually watch Henderson Silver Knights games? If so, does Carl Lindbolm look like he is ready to be Hill’s back up next year.

    • Pistol Pete

Cassidy said Samsanov played well the DET game.
Not sure everybody would agree with that. Think Cassidy should know, but whatever.

      • The hockey God

PP he was asking about Lindbolm, pay attention. Looks like another failure for our Dept. of Education. Can anyone here not dispute how bad our public school system is ?

      • Pistol Pete

Jose I have not seen Lindbom play but I’ve read he’s doing very well, a lot to like about his technique and athleticism. He’s not big listed at 6’1” 185 which if accurate is the same as Fleury but one inch shorter. He’s small by today’s
standards. To guess his size had a lot to do with him going in a late round. We need to wait for camp and the preseason to learn more. I have no idea what Sean Burke’s view of Samsanov is. Consistency is a persistent concern though he can be very good. I have held hope Burke can solve him. Not sure what will happen.

        • JB

Goaltending, as far as playoffs is, Hilly will probably play them all. Our best hope for a deep run is HIM!

  12. Rashaad

This is how stupid the Vegas fan base can be at times. Especially when they complain about Adin Hill.

    Adin Hill’s last 8 starts:

    6-1-1
    .937 save %
    1.75 GAA

But the one loss made people go into a hissy fit.

    Bunch of fucking morons.

The dude literally won a cup with the team.

  13. ThG

Pedro is framing this one, and calling it RETRIBUTION !!!
