Recap: The Golden Knights hosted the Boston Bruins attempting to take both games from coach Bruce Cassidy’s former teams. Mark Stone got Vegas off to a quick start scoring on the first power play of the game. The Golden Knights turned aside several Bruins attacks but held on to their 1-0 lead going into the 1st intermission.
The Bruins evened the score a few minutes into the 2nd period and turned out to be the only goal scored by either team in the middle frame.
Tied 1-1 with 20 minutes to play, Boston’s offense picked up. The Bruins scored two in the period including their third unanswered goal. Boston finished their road trip with a 3-1 victory in Vegas.
The Golden Knights record drops to 20-9-1 falling to the Bruins 3-1. Vegas will next play on Tuesday night in Winnipeg. Puck drop against the Jets is scheduled for 5 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: The Golden Knights came in at a deficit with multiple important players out of the lineup. It got worse with Whitecloud going out. They hung in the game though and had a real shot to find a way to win it. The pace was a lot higher than we are used to seeing but VGK did well to keep up with it, especially defensively. Overall not a bad effort at all. Scoring at home needs to pick up though. (Recap by Ken)

The Golden Knights have scored 7 goals in their last 5 home games.
They've scored just once in the 3rd period in those games and it came while down 5-0 to VAN.

Just too much time down in their own end.
A few days ago Cassidy was asked about the best way to generate offense and he said possess the puck on your forehand. His old team appeared to have had that message drilled into them for 5 years based on that shift.
3-1 BOS

THE hockey God
Bad ice did VGK in yet again!
THE hockey God
A valiant effort by black and gold, but it was as if they were skating on one leg, and with left arm tied behind their back.
Now for something completely different , the non real world of HBO. THE RAT BASTARDS killed off TONYA, unfreaking believable! She figured it out. She got it right, and they still KILLED her off. Everyone thought Portia was going to get it. But nooooooooooooooo. She put two and two and two and two together. She blew away the gay party people and mafia gigolo in EPIC move. Then in fool hardy attempt to get into the dingy, she falls off the yacht and kills herself ! She had it made, she blew it. BUT THE WRITERS killed off the BEST character in the series. Everyone played everyone in this series, at first Ethan vs Cameraon, then hookers vs. DeGrasso (everyone knew the hookers would play them and get away with it.).. then hooker vs. the piano player.

Tuff unfortunate loss. They had a number of great chances to put it away but just couldn’t get it done. Given the circumstances they were dealing they play quite well. Good teams for the most part bring out the best in them. Unfortunately with lesser competition they seem to play down to the opposition level rather than play the game they are capable of which often results in a loss. Tuesday night should prove Interesting as Jets were beat by the caps. Hopefully vgk can maintain their success on the road.
THE hockey GOD
man games lost are piling up, team doesn’t have an enforcer.
too many players being run over leading to injuries.
looking like beginning of demise that happened one month later , in January, of last year.
no help is on the way from AHL, current AHL players are just plain not good enough.
Look at the team chemistry , and anyone who says there isn’t any is foolish. There is no one player that is leading in stats, unlike other teams which depend upon one or two super stars.
They desperately need no.7 and no. 9 back, no. 27 was playing well. Then went down. Hard to win with depleted defense core.
Maybe one of younger players will step up. Whitecloud didn’t look good at all, as Boston player looked to deliberately fall into his legs in feeble attempt to get to the puck. Will VGK bring up one of their high draft picks from AHL, or will they bring up a veteran AHL d man ?
Maybe they will pick someone up on waiver wire? A team yesterday let go a previous no. 1 draft pick.
IT doesn’t look good in Mudville, tide of injuries need to turn.
Alex
They are in first place you ahole! They just beat Boston the other night – that’s 1-1 against a top team.

Alex, we’ve played 30 games and are 20-9-1 nice record but being the dumb fan that I am tell me playing at home how were at a 50% clip. It’s a large enough sample size to say home ice is no advantage for the Knights.
THE hockey GOD
Kraken picked up no. 1 waiver that Smashville let go, yesterday, if they didn’t VGK would have grabbed him. As they seem to like ex no. 1 draft picks who flare out.
Tim
THG, Shockingly I agree with everything you said.

Another offensive explosion. Yes we weren’t at full strength but again losing at home and another one goal performance seems to be who we are. If you can’t play better then 50% wins at home would someone please tell me how we get out of this rut? Hockey skill set includes skating head up with crisp passes shall I say our passes are helter skelter most of the time. The problem is half the time a goal is scored by luck on an 80 foot shot that miraculously goes through 5 players or goes in off someones stick. Very seldom do you see a clean goal with precision passes. So comes the phrase puck luck or no puck luck. So hockey relies on luck where baseball relies on skill to catch, throw, or hit the ball so to me watching incredible defensive plays or stealing base skills or hitting a round ball with a round bat takes skill not puck luck. I won’t get into the pitchers and there control of the ball and direction and misdirection of pitches. That’s what makes me a baseball fan and I cheer for the Golden Knights but the product just doesn’t compare unless you like watching grass grow.
Hdbiker7851
No offense Tim but your reference to watching grass grow is exactly how many people feel a out baseball. We won’t even bring up football. There is nothing like Watching a hockey game when teams are at their best , but as you pointed out VGK dosen’t fall into that category much of the time. For whatever reason and l have been around hockey for 60 plus years the back net seems to elude them more often than not especially at home. Guess everyone is trying to determine why as an answer has come up to this point. They obviously are a better hockey club than their home record suggests. Fortunately for the knights many ticket holders are on contracts so they are stuck with what’s happening. It could change tomorrow but who knows. You can’t be to bad to win as they do away from home. Say a prayer as you indicated your wife is a huge fan that they get their shit together sooner than later for home performance and keep.road wins going.
THE hockey GOD
nothing more exciting in sports than watching a player go for home run record (like Judge did this past year), or two players battle for HR title (Mantle and Maris, McGwire and Sosa). It’s a slow grind with a build up. Baseball is so long, too many lapses. But World Series games are very exciting. If you have never been to a home run derby, you don’t know what you are missing.
Comparing Hockey to Baseball in terms of instant intensity , is comparing apples to oranges.
Guy at work said Soccer was great, then argued that most exciting thing in baseball is scratching and spiting. I said wait a minute, it’s national past time (past time, is fitting), and showed him Gibson cranking one off A’s closer, pinch hitting , with a broken knee, and fans going crazy because it was an entirely epic at bat. A batter facing 90 mph speed balls, and trying to stay alive in batter box. Completely different level of fan intensity.
Soccer on other hand is so fake, it’s like watching the democrats cheat at ballot harvesting, drop boxes, signature verification (lack of); ouch i has hit in knee, roll around for ten minutes, and them cured by act of faith , or GOD, or ? Back up and running. FAKE FAKE FAKE
But the most epic ever fake sport event was 90,000 fans at old Silverdome, in Pontiac Michigan watching the Incredible Hulk (defending champ) vs. Andre the Giant (undefeated) in championship match. In which Andre the Giant was managed by Bobby “the brain ” Henan. Hulk picked up 500 pound Giant and dropped him to mat. That in itself is an incredible sports feat. The FANS went crazy. I mean crazy. All 90,000 of them ! Woooo whhaaa. As Rick Flair would say.
TS
THG, Soccer and WWE= REALLY BAD ACTING. Will not watch either. Add some really bad Tennis protests, you’ve got the TRIFECTA of FAKE.

@TS
watch the WWE 91,000 fan match referenced above and tell me hulk hogan did not lift 500 pound Andre the Giant at seven foot five inches and slammed him to mat !?

the Vgk in general did not play too badly considering the short staff situation.
Unfortunately, Carrier, who has played very well this year, could not finish his close-in chances this time.
Stephenson has not scored a goal in 14 games.
Roy and Amadio looked weak in that game.
Miromanov and Hutton played pretty well with the increased ice time and responsibility, but 42 made a bad pinch on the winning goal against.
THE hockey GOD
E F Hutton missed on break away.

shades of last season…….get into first place, and then injuries etc. derail the team. the lack of strong depth is apparent when you see someone like Amadio….11 goals last year, and this year crickets.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vegas Golden Knights leading scorer Jack Eichel was placed on injured reserve because of a lower-body injury, the club confirmed Monday.
The designation means Eichel must miss at least seven days dating back to when he couldn’t physically play.
Defenseman Zach Whitecould went out Sunday with a lower-body injury, and on Monday was placed on long-term IR, the team confirmed. That designation means Whitecloud will miss at least 10 games and 24 days.
The Knights announced on Twitter they recalled Jonas Rondbjerg, Brayden Pachal and Kaedan Korczak from their American Hockey League affiliate in Henderson, Nev.
