Recap: The Golden Knights hosted the Arizona Coyotes on Friday night for preseason game #4. The World Champions outshot the Coyotes 9 to 3 in the opening period but neither team could find the back of the net. Arizona struck first quickly into the middle frame, but Nic Hague evened the score midway through. 2020 29th overall pick Brendan Brisson gave his club the lead with 0:15 seconds remaining.
Vegas continued to pepper shots at Arizona’s net, specifically from the blue line. Nic Hague, Kaeden Korczak and Shea Theodore all delivered 4 or more SOG.
The Golden Knights picked up their first victory of the preseason and now prepare for their final three exhibition games. The Golden Knights will welcome in the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: Brendan Brisson power play goal, William Karlsson empty netter, and the Coyotes shot the puck like 10 times the whole game. That’s really all there was to know about this game. (Recap by Ken)

Shoutout to the Aces for keeping up Vegas’ record of dominance. Back to the final!!! #BackToBack

Cassidy said this morning he thinks Korczak’s game is similar to Whitecloud.
I’m starting to see it too. That activation he just had was straight out of the Whitecloud playbook.

LOVE Ken’s Concluding Analysis! Consise. Appreciated.
Like an email in lieu of a meeting.
Props to the AZ Goalie. Great move in the 1st period and pretty damn good against dozens of SOG.

We win, we win! Ha …… Come on Oct. 10th.

10 AZ SOG the entire game?? How is that possible?? Did they lose their sticks?? Broken wrists?? LOL

I’m really in love with Brisson’s shot. That goal at the end of the second was kind of a quick scramble off a blocked shot on the power play, nice little pass to Brisson and then, a quick and accurate snipe for Brisson. He also set up teammates and played well positionally. Hoping he keeps it up, I want him on this roster. PT

Not much of a test for LT, but he did play a full 60, so that’s good.

Superb pass by Howden to Brisson for that goal.
Brisson is the answer to the need for a right circle sniper on the PP……..he needs to improve the other parts of his game, but he is getting better each game.
William “we beat the shit out of Arizona” Karlsson did exactly that once again. 🙂

Good to see LT play. Not exactly a huge challenge, but he’s back in the game!

News——-
the VGK cut everyone after the game. all players were sent down to Henderson ……..
except of course Korczak, Pachal, Dorofeyev, Brisson, Cotter, and Comtois
26 players left, just 3 more will have to go.
THE hockey GOD
here is how I rate the
chances for remaining position, based upon both play and
waivers.
1- no 16 Dorofeyev (every game played strong so far)
2- no 43 Cotter (played two games , and missed last two, hurt?)
3- no. 19 Brisson (doubt he will make the team due to
fact he can pass waivers)
4- no 88 comtois, hasn’t shown much in my opinion. Needs
to step it up, has been given a lot of looks. But what do I know. Will
probably make squad.
Three more to go ? REally two if Whitecloud goes on IR, but when he comes back someone will have to go. If Pachal goes on waivers, some one will likely pick him up. But I believe he cleared waivers before. But he gets picked up, VGK can pick up someone else from waivers from another team.
Richie-Rich
So, Comtois, Dorofeyev, Brisson or Rondjberg?
Pistol Pete
Dorofeyev in my eyes is the most gifted by far. He’s gotten stronger more physical on the puck, winning battles and making smart plays and back checking per Cassidy’s requirement. The 7 G and 2 A in 10 games was no fluke. The chance to take Smith’s place on Karlsson’s wing on a championship team. Does not get any better than that. His to lose and he won’t.
THE hockey GOD
The following players were assigned to the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League: Layton Ahac, Tyler Benson, Jake Bischoff, Jakub Brabenec, Daniil Chayka, Lukas Cormier, Adam Cracknell, Jakub Demek, Mason Morelli, Jiri Patera, Christoffer Sedoff, Jesper Vikman.
The following players have been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Henderson: Byron Froese, Mason Geertsen, Dysin Mayo, Gage Quinney, Sheldon Rempal, Jonas Rondbjerg.

Like Pistol Pete I’m a big Dorofeyev fan back to his first rookie camp when they said he was special. It’s no surprise with some experience in North America and a little maturity he’s ready to become a star. Make no mistake about it baring injuries this kids going to have a nice career with the Knights. Looks like Brisson, Cotter, Korczak, Pachal are also getting close to making the team either this year or next. Keep bringing in young players and you stay relevant keep an aging team to long and your in a rebuild. I like retool over rebuild.
Pistol Pete
His goal scoring his first two seasons in Henderson immediately got my attention especially being a Russian player’s introduction to North American ice. 36 G and 29 A in 87 games (goals to points = 55%). His numbers fell off a bit last year in Henderson (possibly due to a lingering injury?) but his performance when called up more than made up for it. He’s been able to get bigger and stronger on the puck winning more puck battles. Much improved on the boards. Understands playing in his own end and Karlsson would make a good partner for continuing development of his 200 ft. game. Potential top six…if successful would be the first draft pick to make it.

Cody Glass has become a legitimate NHL’er now. Perhaps they brought him up way too early and he wasn’t physically mature enough for the rigorurs of the NHL game. Brendan Brisson is likely not ready in spite of his terrific training camp. Nothing wrong with giving him more seasoning.
Pistol Pete
David Edstrom our first round pick is playing in the top Swedish pro league (SHL) as an 18 year-old (turns 19 in February) and is off to a good start with 2 G and 4 A in 7 games. He’s already 6’ 3” and could be well north of 200 lb. when’s he’s done growing. A good season in the SHL and we could see him in camp and Henderson next season. Under 20 can play in the AHL when not beholden to a Major Junior team. Bigger than Brisson and possibly (probably is my hope) more upside. We’ll keep an eye on his first full SHL season. He did so well in the next younger tier that he finished last season in the SHL as a newly turned 18 year-old getting 2 G and 2 A in 11 games.

The greatest front office in the history of professional sports, could also choose to deal a prospect at the trade deadline, like a Zach Dean for Ivan Barbashev.

Five Big Hype Prospects
David Edstrom, C, Vegas Golden Knights (Frölunda HC, SHL)
7GP 2G 4A 6pts 13:13 ATOI
Drafted with the final pick of the 2023 first round, Edstrom was chosen on the back of a strong season at the J20 Nationell level in Sweden that included 11 games in the SHL with Frölunda’s senior team. A professional two-way center with a well-rounded game, there was a general belief that both Edstrom’s tools and overall style would translate seamlessly to the pro game, which is far more physically and mentally demanding than playing junior hockey against peers.
This season, Edstrom has so far passed all tests with flying colors. The rangy six-foot-two pivot has flown out the gates for Frölunda, tied for the team lead in scoring with six points in seven games. He’s flashed some serious skill along the way, and if he can keep up this kind of offensive production the public scouting sphere, which widely ranked Edstrom within the first-round/second-round bubble, may need to re-think what his true offensive upside looks like at the highest level.
