Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to stay undefeated with a win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks. Brett Howden quickly gave Vegas a 1-0 lead, scoring his second tally of the season. Anaheim evened the score five minutes later, sending the two teams into the first intermission tied 1-1.
Both clubs traded chances in the middle frame but couldn’t find the back of the net. Vegas was rewarded two power play opportunities but came up empty on both. After 40 minutes the game was locked in a 1-1 score.
Vegas drew another penalty and got to work early in the final frame. Tomas Hertl snapped the tie with his first goal of the season. With time winding time Pavel Dorofeyev scored his first of the year and extended the Golden Knights lead to 3-1.
The Golden Knights remain unblemished and their record improves to 3-0-0 on the young season. Vegas will hit the road for their next three games beginning on Tuesday. Puck drop in Washington, DC is scheduled for 4PM. **Come join us for Pub Trivia during the game at Giordano’s. Bring a team, answer the questions, and win a free meal!** (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: A much grittier game than the previous two, VGK’s structure through the middle of the ice lacked a bit early which meant much less time with the puck. Eventually, they started to wear down the Ducks (who were on a B2B) and they drew some penalties and created turnovers. Not exactly the most impressive win they’ll ever have, but yet another early-season win for Cassidy and Co. (Analysis by Ken)

- Hertl power play goal hopefully will get him jumpstarted at 5-on-5

3 takeaways from the game, presented by @dotvegasinc
1) Keegan Kolesar was terrific. Impactful all over the ice and really helped VGK get control back multiple times when it was slipping.
2) A much tighter game, the VGK structure in the defensive zone came through in a big way.… pic.twitter.com/PJOaKJnVD8— SinBin.vegas (@SinBinVegas) October 14, 2024
Broken stick saves the day for VGK!
Ducks can't get the easy clear, Stone gets it to Hertl crashing the net and VGK have the lead once again. PP continues to look very dangerous.

Sloppiness continues each way. The cleaner team is going to win this game. Not going to be about making great plays, it's about avoiding terrible ones.

Ducks are moving the puck well through the neutral zone and it seems to have VGK a bit on the back foot. When Vegas has had the puck under their control they look really dangerous, but it needs to happen more as this game goes on.

Very good game by Sam and others. Glad to see Pavo and Hertl get their firsts of the season. Let’s take this show on the road and see what we can do against some tuff teams.

Remember at the beginning of the season all teams are hard to beat it’s a new year and everyone is pumped up but after a month the air comes out of the ballon and reality sets in. Great start let’s keep it going on the road. Guardians Yanks tonight yipes I’m excited, nervous, and hope the baseball Gods are on our side.

What’s a guardian ?
Are they going to try to get by on “chaos” again ?

Vegas starts 3-0 at home EDM starts 0-3 at home
Including 2-5 to the Blackhawks.
VGK actually looking deeper on the wing than the pundits (ESPN etc.) had been saying. Cassidy giving Holtz PP time tells us something (at the same time thought he might move Olofsson up and Holtz down). Better game for Pav.
Paul Cotter tied for second in goals with four! What a change is scenery can do in the early going at least. He came to Jersey well prepared by this Vegas organization. I do think switching Cotter for Holtz will prove out though.

Meant to add what a game by Brett Howden. All over the ice doing everything. A first rounder he might just be blossoming into one of the best “depth” forwards in the league.

BJ caught, told you he was trouble
“A Las Vegas man who lost a Nevada Assembly race in 2022 was arrested Saturday outside a California rally for former President Donald Trump, after the local sheriff’s office said he tried to pass a checkpoint with loaded firearms and multiple passports.”

VGK 3-0….&@$8&$oilers 0-3…gotta love it….they can very easily get off to a 4-8-2 start this year based on their schedule..can only hope!
Good overall effort last night… a game that needed to be won before the 3 game Eastern trip…Anyone for Hill vs Thompson on Tuesday????…what a sideshow that would be…though I suspect Lindgren will be the starter.
During practice yesterday Doro get shooting that same shot…in that case practice did make perfect!
Just curious though… Hanifin has been fairly invisible through 3 games…look forward to him becoming more involved offensively as the road trip begins.

Has LT played yet? It would be fun to see him and hilly go head to head!
