Recap: The Golden Knights were trying to extend their series lead to 3-2 with a victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 4. Brayden McNabb was whistled for a questionable major penalty, leading the Ducks to a five-minute power play. Vegas killed off most of the penalty but the Ducks were able to get on the scoresheet first. Minutes later the Golden Knights evened the game with a Pavel Dorofeyev power play goal. After 20 minutes the game was locked in a 1-1 tie.
Both teams traded chances in the 2nd period but both goaltenders kept it a scoreless period.
Under five minutes into the final frame, Tomas Hertl broke the tie to give the Golden Knights a 2-1 lead. The Ducks pushed back and eventually tied the game late to force overtime.
Dorofeyev scored the game-winner in overtime to give Vegas a 3-2 victory.
The Golden Knights take a 3-2 series lead by defeating the Ducks 3-2 in OT. Game 6 of the Second Round seven-game series is scheduled for Thursday night in Anaheim. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: A controversial major penalty put the Golden Knights behind the 8-ball early in this game. Not only was Brayden McNabb kicked out of the game, but they allowed a goal on the ensuing power play. When the game settled in afterwards, it was the most open game of the series and it appeared VGK were going to get the better of it as they led late in the 3rd. They continued doing it in OT and eventually were able to break through with an awesome finish by Dorofeyev. The Golden Knights are now up 3-2 in the series after winning Game 5. They’ve been here five times before, including two weeks ago, and it’s gone extremely well in Game 6 every single time. (Recap by Ken)

C’mon Golden Knights let’s close these turkeys out Thursday and book a ticket to the conference final (fifth in nine years).
Came within 3 min. 5 sec. of the Hertl from Saad and Andersson being the game winner. Oh well next best result! Way to go #16 two goals on the night difference maker!
VGK the better faster team tonight.
VGK players leading the playoffs who says this team can’t score?
Marner 16 pts
Howden and Pav 7 G (tied with Boldy and Stankoven)
Eichel 14 A

Worst officiated game I’ve seen in a long time. This may sound familiar as once again…NOT A MAJOR!!!!!
JoeInHendo
I rarely blame the refs, and bad penalties tend to even out during the course of the game, but I totally agree with you on this game DL. One of the worst officiating displays I’ve seen. No way that was a 5-minute major misconduct on McNabb. Original Misfit McNabb has always brought the big hits since day 1 with VGK without being dirty (very underrated part of his game). Definitely interference, but as PK Subban said during first intermission, it was a clean, hard, playoff hockey hit. And can someone please explain to these refs what high-sticking (Marner taking sticks to the face), icing (VGK beating Ducks to the puck), and boarding (by Ducks late in the 3rd) looks like?
DeezNutz
Hertl definitely read my comments on here after last game. Tonight he was right in front of the net EYES ON THE PUCK AND STICK ON THE ICE AND HE BANGED THAT COCKSUCKER RIGHT INTO THE BACK OF THE NET LIKE I TOLD HIM TO. You are all welcome
knights fan in minny
He read your Comments You’re a moron

Ewwww. Must you bring the sexual Male vernacular to this site, Deez?? I mean, what does a Cock- s—– er have to do with Hockey??
There ARE females on this site

Thanks Deez Nutz! This VGK fan forever greatful!

Great win!
just like I said yesterday, DEFENSE…they gotta hold the Ducks to 2 goals or less. the Vgk won all 3 games in this series when they did.
Score-o-feyev was excellent, even getting his first goal from his own defensive work.
Hertl finally showed up. the d corps did a great job with just 5 guys, and Hart continues to shine.
the refs sucked.
TS
Vgk, everything you said….
rb7
Go Knights!
the 5 dmen held their own after losing McNabb. Doro did it all, blocked shots and scored big goals.
and it is a good thing that playoff OT is not like the reg season stuff because the Vgk were not good at 3 on 3.
p.s.—I liked the old fiery version of Torts better than his new, softer version.
His team was getting shafted by the refs, and he just stood there like a puzzled grandpa.
In the old days he would have been going ballistic, because you have to play the aggrieved victim card to make the case for the next call.
JB
Gritty tuff win. Hart great again. The beer leaguer got another one and Dorfy did it all! Jack played hard all night. Yes the major five minute was bullshit. A key was us holding them to just one goal for five minutes! Let’s wrap this damn thing up on Thursday!
Tim
A bad 5 minute penalty shades of the San Jose game 7 when Cody Aikens got a 5 minute which cost us the series. That crew after the bad call were suspended from further refine in the playoffs that year. I would think today’s crew deserves the same fate. Really that first crew should have been fired and maybe after today they should be fired. Anyway big win 3 down 1 to go.
SMH
“Cody Aikens” sounds like an AI-generated country & western singer, so I am here to give original misfit Cody Eakin his just due.
John
Very funny
TS
My thought, too, Tim. THAT game was a nightmare!
Dejavu. Except, we battled through it this time, didn’t CHOKE.
FG
Pavs can score in the playoffs. He is about to get paid! VGK cap situation next year is ugly.
Please ask Torts why he had his five worse defensive players on the ice with four minutes to go. As soon as I saw those five out there, even for an offensive zone draw, I knew they were in trouble.
John
Hopefully the knights can keep beating up the ducks and controlling play. They just need to keep shooting and clogging up the middle until things start clicking even more. The ESPN commentators keep fluffing up the ducks? Sure good team with weapons, but the knights are controlling most of the game flow?
Hoping for an offensive explosion finally in Anaheim
Rrale
It was great to see VGK beat 2 teams last night. Karlsson had a good game, as usual.
I agree hope the Refs from last night’s game bet banned from the rest of the playoffs. I would not wish anyone to get fired. Or maybe a fine? Hope NHL does not do anything to McNabb.
DAK
Horrible ‘Major’ call. McNabb can’t help it if the lame Duck bangs his own weak brain bucket into the glass. I sure hope McPhee and McCrimmon immediately call the League about disciplining the lame Duck whose hit on Coghlan was way worse at the end of regulation than McNabbs, if they are even remotely considering to discipline Nabbers. Unless Reilly Smith is hurt get him back in for Saad. Saad had the goalie beat one on one in the upper right corner and missed it badly. Smith creates and executes way more in a game than Saad and has done so in the playoffs. The Knights should have won this going away easily 5-2. Hertl’s first chance on the doorstep (he should have had 2 goals), Saad’s big miss and Theodore’s weak stick on a gimme at the goal line.
Knights are the better team they just have to finish on these kind of opportunities.
Stu Cohen
McNabb is having a hearing today with the league and most likely is being suspended according to NHL radio. The bad officiating in favor of everyone who plays the Knights will continue until the FO makes a point of bringing it up as they did after the San Jose series.
Anaheim had a total of 1 penalty all night, team played thru that but the fighting 2 opponents gets annoying every night.
TS
One game suspension…coulda been worse, i guess..
Frank
Not a major. Clean hit, albeit late. Sucks the Anaheim player gets concussed…. if not, it’s perhaps not even a 2 minute interference call. That being said, the boys pulled through and the better team won. On to game 6 where I feel like we win going away.
Larry
Play like this on Thursday, get ahead early and plant further seeds of doubt to the opposition, they will close the Ducks out and move on to the Western Conference Finals.
There is no way McNabb should come out of any player safely meeting with a suspension , simply wouldn’t be warranted based on the play and his past history.
However, what they and the league should be looking at is the hit on Coghlan. I’m an old world hockey guy who loved the rough stuff and physical play of a bygone era, but what happened to Coghlan was a total dirty hit, hit from behind, hit on his numbers after the puck has gone, his body and particularly his head driven into the glass, he is actually lucky he didn’t sustain serious damage as his neck could have suffered serious injury, that MUST be looked at and addressed!
Pistol Pete
Since Torts came in:
Torts: 14-4-1
Hart: 13-4 (2.23/.937)
McNabb has a hearing today. Suspension is possible. Did well to win game 5 with him out. Shows the depth of our D corp. Really liked Saad-Hertl-Sissons/Kolesar. I too was advocation for Reilly Smith however as always I defer to the coaching staff. They always know better than me.
TS
Torts needs to counter this BS eith the Dirty Coghlan hit!! Would Coach even HAVE. an appeals process in this kinda deal?
rb7
this is outrageous. McNabb did nothing dirty on that hit. he did NOT contact the head. it should have been a 2 minute interference penalty.
and now they are trying to suspend him too !
just remember, the NHL gets half of its TV revenue from ESPN, which is ABC Disney, which is long associated with Ducks ownership.
just sayin’
where the fluck are the Vgk brass on this? they should be screaming bloody murder about it.
rb7
Sennecke should be suspended for his dirty hit on Coghlan. He left his feet and targeted the head of Coghlan. and he gets off scot free, huh?
Ice Warrior
Let us not underestimate the brilliance of Jack Eichel’s pass to Doro for the OT winner. Four Ducks on him and he snakes the puck through to set up Pavel who is just waiting at the front of the net. Fantastic play!
rb7
btw, the NHL only gave a fine to Manson of the Avs for butt ending the head of McCarron on Monday with his stick.
and Manson has a long history of supplemental discipline, while McNabb has has never been suspended in 885 regular season games and 115 playoff games. ZERO… ..clean record…… yet look at who gets called on the carpet.
where the fock is McCrimmon and Foley on this ???
knights fan in minny
hart Was fantastic Dorfy Power play goal He was hard on the puck made a great play I think that’s about the nicest play I’ve ever seen him make Theo was outstanding Hats off to the Iron 5 they were excellent Need to wrap it up for one more game close those ducks out Leo Carlson is amazing
HSK
Berube fired in Toronto. I hope Cassidy takes that job, because otherwise he will be going to Vgk rivals LA or Edm and helping them against us.
Jeffrey Sutton
The players hate Cassidy. He would be perfect in Edmonton or LA. I want one of those teams playing for someone they hate.
McFly
I’d guess many players aren’t happy with their coach at some point.
Stating the “supposed claim” that player(s) hate Cassidy is a bit much.
Just cause some critic claims it, doesn’t mean it’s true and even so doesn’t mean much.
He mentioned interest in a Canadian team but who knows.
It’ll be interesting to see where he winds up.. Be careful for what you wish.
Larry
It’s a very simple matter regarding Cassidy and the &@$)( oilers, a win win for all involved.
Cassidy is named new coach with the stipulation that they take Hill and his contract north of the border, they get a coach and a new goalie and we get much needed cap relief.
Further, if there is any truth to the rumors of players getting tired of him after a short time and with no playoff success again, #97 opts out in 2 years and joins a revitalized VGK squad and attains his Stanley Cup.
McFly
I game suspension for McNabb
knights fan in minny
I did not see the hit last night on Live TV I had walked away for a couple minutes Just saw the replay right now that was a love tap Somebody has got it out for the squad
Rrale
One game suspension is such BS. How about the Duck who hit Coghlan? DoPS should be ashamed of themselves. I have read several times how bad DoPS is but always gave the benefit of the doubt, not anymore. They are crooked and unfair.
I can only hope VGK feel disrespected and blow Ducks out of their own building tomorrow.
DL
Now a 1 game suspension?! For a clean hit, nothing more than interference, and what should have been only 2 minutes. Now it basically amounts to 2 games?! The only thing I can think of is thanks to the NHL Player Safety, run by George Parros, a former Duck. I hope there is an appeal process and fast.
knights fan in minny
Chris Chelios said the reason he got the one game suspension is because The ducks Guys head hit the glass
Duckboy
Plus the call from ESPN came in asking for this suspension so they can have the team they formerly owned to the next round so they can get better ratings.
I am sure the bribe is cheaper than investing in quality coverage. It nearly invisible and terrible.
Tj oshie can barely put a sentence together.
Pk subban is more interested in fashion and wearing no shoes than covering hockey.
Grandpa mark messier literally has no idea what is going on.
TS
PK would wrap himself in aluminum foil and a tin hat if it got him attention. He’s an attention- seeking talking head. Is TNT that desperate that they can’t find a legit analyst??
Earl the Replanted Transplant
TNT does not have PK, or can you not tell the difference between 2 different black men? Anson Carter has class and is on TNT. PK is a blowhard and on ESPN.
DL
Ken? Your take and insight please! This can’t be all and acceptable.
HSK
effin Korczak at left D? good luck
HSK
charlie Manson gets just a fine for butt ending the Minny player in the head, but McNabb, with a clean record, gets suspended for a clean hit because the player was unlucky to bump his head when falling.
Larry
How about Coghlan’s head slammed into the glass, and from behind at his numbers, he’s a fortunate young man that he didn’t sustain a neck fracture, but no penalty called, and apparently not a second glance from the p.o.s. DOPS!
DL
O M Fn G! It’s not only George Parros, a former Ducks player, heading the Department of Player Safety. As of 2026, former Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf works for the NHL Department of Player Safety, having joined the league’s hockey operations department in August 2024.he works alongside former teammate George Parros, helping make decisions regarding in-game infractions. W T F!! Where is the outrage? Where is the VGK brass? Where is the appeal?
Pistol Pete
Ryan Poeling said to be out for game six pretty important little piece for the Ducks hard to replace. Let’s close these turkeys out!
