WINNIPEG JETS 4 VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 1 (32-26-14, 78 PTS)

Recap:  The Golden Knights were looking to build off their win with a road victory against the Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg struck first late in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission.

Winnipeg stretched its lead to 3-0, but Vegas chipped away with a power play goal from Colton Sissons. After 40 minutes, the Golden Knights trailed 3-1.

Vegas had several power play chances but couldn’t find the game-tying goals. With time winding down the Jets scored an empty net goal to stretch it to a 4-1 advantage.

The Golden Knights record drops to 32-26-14 falling to the Jets 4-1 in Winnipeg. Next, Vegas will return home for a four-game homestand beginning on Thursday. Puck drop against the Edmonton Oilers is scheduled for 6:30 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: Another night, another 3-0 hole. VGK controlled possession for a good portion of this game but the chances they created were not as dangerous as the ones they allowed. Winnipeg gave the Golden Knights plenty of opportunities in the 3rd period and VGK just could not convert. They simply aren’t scoring. Like every hockey team, when you don’t score, you don’t win.  (Analysis by Ken)

    Game 72 Analysis WPG 4, VGK 1

The Dallas win turned out to be Fool’s Gold.

Hill is what his statistics say they are, and the offense that McCrimmon promised with the Marner acquisition has not produced.

Roster & Cap Chaos is real. At this point it still appears that the VGK will back into the playoffs.

Anything can happen in the playoffs…..
….maybe Adin or Akira get hot.

      • Don’t hold your breath on Adin or Akira getting hot – they are useless and if the team in front of them gets demotivated by having to climb out of a hole it’s over. There is no redeeming feature making the unbelievable saves when you continue to let in three or four goals that were stopable. Ken thinks not scoring is a bigger issue than the goalie situation. It’s almost a certain even they were scoring the goalies would give up one more. They are just bad plain and simple.

        • Never said it’s a bigger issue. It is literally right now, like the last 5 games, but both have been a huge part of the reason why VGK are where they are. The point of the previous article was to say it’s everything, not just goaltending.

          • We certainly agree on the “everything” including the goaltending or better yet the lack of goaltending.

Had plenty of chances to score and win this game. They just won’t go in!

Pistol Pete, after the Dallas game you said, “Not at all surprised by that outcome not in the least tiny little bit.”

They have 8 regulation wins in the last 23 games. I’m surprised and shocked when they actually win because it hardly happens anymore.

I’m not picking on you or criticizing you. I actually admire your optimism but I am curious is if you deep down really believe that this team is not horseshit.

They are so disappointing. There is nothing admirable about this group this year. The fact that they are so talented makes their performance this year more shameful.

back to same ol’ same ol’ after a one game false alarm.

the top players on the Vgk are in a terrible slump. and that spells disaster unless they wake up from their coma immediately.

Edm and LA and Ducks are all leading as I type, so the Vgk are losing ground tonight for certain.

I looked at Gold number two and number three haven’t watched the game going to get ready too whether they played poorly or you can sit there and Hammer the defense or they Circle into the net that’s Hayden Hill and the goal before it Hayden Hill glove side couldn’t put in the back of the net that cross eyes pass for gold number three from the top of the circle along the boards all the way across to the center of the opposite side… Hayden Hills just not on his game this year or maybe it’s starting to wind down remember he was goalie number four in the Stanley Cup and that was a couple years ago his record shows it he’s getting beat in the shootouts yeah the team’s not playing or being able to score but they get too much ahead you got to make some saves sometimes you got to be able to carry the team Hayden Hill is not carrying any bit of this team at least not enough to stand out in my eyes

They were Fool’s Gold last year btw, relying on a fast start, PP merchant, and bumslaying. Those don’t exist this year. Underachieving players combined with repeated poor GM roster decisions have led to a team that isn’t very good and may survive by the skin of their teeth to get into the playoffs.
An Edmonton game awaits on Thursday who has won 9 of the last 10 or something like that. They would be the most likely first round opponent. Who thinks that is going to go well? They couldn’t score last year in the playoffs, and are worse this year.

It doesn’t bother me that management has put us in a very bad cap position plus a depleted prospect system. What really bothers me is trading Whitecloud a first this year and a second next year for Anderson who can walk at the end of the season. No one with a brain would have given that much capital for less then a half years of service.

    • knights fan in minny

You have no clue if he’s going to walk He’s been pretty good lately Now that baseball season starts tonight we’re not going to hear from you anymore right Your hockey takes Are a joke Good luck on your boring baseball season

Ken, you mentioned in yesterday’s posted podcast about what was McGM trading for? To win the division? In my mind the only trades they should have made would be ones to beat Colorado. Otherwise save your powder for next year. The true sign that this team is to far gone is if Cassidy decides to resign for the sake of the organization. Only then you know there truly is no point of return. Between McGM and Cassidy getting released is a no brainer. Bring a GM who knows what Cassidy needs to reach the Stanley Cup finals. This is a business not personal and McGM’s decisions the last few years have not produced the expected results. As you said Ken this team isn’t effectively built for a coach like Cassidy. A GM helps with the foundation and stability of the team. Our GM is 9 yrs in and it seems that concrete foundation is cracking.

    • I agree. If you aren’t making moves to win the Cup, the moves better be future focused, and these three were not (considering Andersson made it clear he was willing to come here anyway).
