Recap: The Golden Knights were looking for back-to-back road wins with a victory against the Utah Hockey Club. Miwday into the opening period Utah scored the only goal of the period and took a 1-0 edge into the 1st intermission.
Utah took a two-goal lead seven minutes into the frame on the power play. However, Vegas was rewarded with a second period power play which Tomas Hertl took advantage of. Hertl cut the Hockey Club’s lead down to 2-1 before the break.
Early on in the final 20 minutes Cole Schwindt drew a cross-checking penalty. Like he did in the 2nd period, Hertl scored a power play goal to even the score 2-2. With less than two minutes on the clock William Karlsson deflected in the game’s winning goal. Karlsson would add an empty net to seal Vegas’ two goal victory.
The Golden Knights record improves to 11-4-2 defeating Utah 4-2 in Salt Lake City. Vegas will head back home for one game on Sunday against the Washington Capitals. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: The Golden Knights started out really slow. They spent the majority of the 1st period in their own end and if it weren’t for some Adin Hill heroics it would have been much worse. The middle of the ice went back to being wide open, after a strong showing in Anaheim, and Utah took advantage of it. Tomas Hertl continues to dominate on the power play which got VGK even in a game they had no business being close in. Then, William Karlsson took over. (Analysis by Ken)

Regarding the primary versus secondary assist nonsense, check out Scwindt’s ‘secondary’ assist when he got the puck out of the corner to Korczak for the shot Karlsson tipped in. That ‘secondary’ assist was a ‘primary’ reason for the game winner. If the writers give the primary versus secondary stuff a rest, I’ll do the same.
Another piece of nonsense…worrying about Hertl at 5 on 5. Sort of like worrying about Ohtani only being a DH.

So far my observation on the Knights is this. Management seems to bring in cheap veterans for some reason for the most part fit in. Drafting where we do were not getting a stud but we seem to trade our middle of the road prospects for seasoned veterans. It keeps us competitive year after year. Cudo’s to the organization.
