Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to keep their winning streak alive with a victory in San Jose. Jack Eichel opened the scoring with his 15th goal of the season. The Sharks evened the score minutes later but committed a costly penalty midway through the period. On the ensuing power play, specialist Pavel Dorofeyev scored to give Vegas a 2-1 lead.
Vegas came out hot for the 2nd period. Eichel, Tomas Hertl and Zach Whitecloud all scored to take a commanding 5-1 lead. San Jose cut the lead to 5-2 before the intermission.
An empty net goal from Shea Theodore and then another from Hertl extended the lead to the same score VGK beat the Sharks by a few weeks ago, 7-2.
The Golden Knights record improves to 21-11-12 defeating the Sharks 7-2 in San Jose. Next up, Vegas will take on the Kings on Wednesday night in LA. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: It was a VGK vs SJS game. Probably need to update this article because it fit just about all of it. (Analysis by Ken)

Golden Knights just did what the Stars were unable to do yesterday namely best the Sharks in San Jose!

Lindbom picks up second career win.
Damn Stoner’s streak ends fails to break the record. No hat trick for Jack or Tomas. Oh well.
A five pointer for Hertl including two goals and he’s on the SJS payroll to the tune of $1.25m how sweet it is!

Big difference in Penalty Kills. VGK killed all 5 SJ Power Plays, while SJ went 4/5 vs. Dallas. Even that would not have been enough tonight, however!!

I’m glad to see the VGK waking up and playing their game. Good stretch here building confidence. They need to keep it rolling. Maybe the dad’s had some serious talks after that ugly trip, maybe Stone and Butch lit a fire; I don’t care, just keep playing hard. Good to see them getting some in close goals off rebounds.

Maybe Jack took a couple of games to get going again, and maybe we really missed Theo, too! It happens. Now, let’s get Howie back (and HIll and Karly) and stay healthy!!

Like old times, smash the minnows! Four straight now. Good game by many. Where was Howden? Rolling finally!

Hertl sticking it bigtime to his old team.
and Jack is back, and the Knights are on track.
now 3 ahead of Edm and 5 ahead of SJ,
and Vgk have a game in hand.
gotta get a cushion before the Olympic break.

Are you Bret Howden, VGK21? How’s the lower body injury??? Hopefully you are back on Wednesday vs. the Kings. We need all hands on deck for that game!

What a horrible thing to say!

A thorough thrashing of the Sharks

This was a good win. We will see where they are by next week. Kings, Maple Leafs, Nashville, Flyers. If we can go 3 and 1 I would say we are back. Three of those 4 games are home. Like Marner at center so far. Still need a shooting left wing and one more Defenseman if we continue to win.

Amazing how good Lauzon looks next to Theodore.

Thats a pairing I wasnt expecting, in fact I was kinda confused when I saw it in game. Worth kicking the tires for a few games.

Game 44 Analysis VGK 7 SJS 2
Like old times indeed! The team looks like a completely different team these past 4 games. Gone is the hesitation, poor decision making and lack of situational awareness. Hanifan’s turnover a few games ago in the NZ that ended up in a goal is what I am talking about. Better decisions, much better the past 4 games.
The stars are producing. Even Sissons and Lauzon looks better the past few games. I had completely given up hope on them. I like Bowman. At this point in his development I actually believe that he is further along than Dorofeyev at the same point. Keep an eye on his progress!
Keep in mind that these last four victories were expected. Next up Kings on Wednesday. Keep rolling!

I’ve come to think that sports are 50/50 Skill vs State of mind. The bad vibes can collectively hinder a team ‘s success, as we’ve seen. IDK who lit the fire again, but IT WORKED!!!!
Vic
Both teams on back to backs, but the VGK looked faster and fresher than the younger Sharks which is a very encouraging sign. During the winning streak, protecting the young goalies and safely exiting the D zone have been good. Also helps when pucks are going into the other team’s net.

The Vgk compete level, intensity level, and hustle, muscle and puck support have noticeably gone up since the return of the injured stars.
and they are playing their Cassidy system with more precise execution and awareness and fewer mental blunders.
They needed a push combo of a return to health and some coach anger and criticism to get back on track.
now let’s see if it will continue long term vs tougher opponents, or fizzle in the coming games.

One outlet reporting Wild Bill will not be back before the March 6th trade deadline maybe even longer

Is it time to make a move sooner than later

Marner looks real good at center, so I would guess that they will be looking for a scoring winger and depth on the blueline
Emmanuel
They REALLY need a LW.
