VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4 SAN JOSE SHARKS 2 (6-2-0 12 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights traveled to San Jose for a divisional battle with the Sharks. On a historic night, Phil Kessel scored the 400th goal of his career in a game which he broke the Ironman night. Kessel’s goal gave Vegas a 1-0 advantage in his 990th consecutive game.

The Sharks offense woke up in the 2nd period. San Jose took the lead 2-1, scoring early and adding a second goal with under a minute to go in the middle frame.

Shea Theodore evened the score 0:55 seconds into the final period. William Karlsson broke the tie and moments later Mark Stone extended Vegas’ lead.

The Golden Knights record improves to (6-2-0) defeating the Sharks 4-2 in San Jose. Vegas will return for two games against the Ducks and Jets. The home stand will begin on Friday night. Puck drop on Nevada Day from The Fortress is scheduled for an early 3:00 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: It was a bit of a slog offensively for the first 40 minutes and a breakdown basically handed the lead to the Sharks late in the 2nd. But another dominant 3rd period by the Golden Knights rescued the two points and gave VGK their first perfect back-to-back of the year. (Recap by Ken)

Congrats to Iron Man Phil for breaking the record AND getting your 400th! And, you are definitely NOT slow!

    • Pistol Pete

I’d like to see Cotter and Kessel on the same line.

    • Pistol Pete

      Ironman Phil Kessel!

      • Pistol Pete

        12th American-born player to reach 400 goals.

      • Awesome 3rd period! It was a VGK Tsunami! Best late- game effort in AGES. Stone’s sneaker goal at net was Classic Stone….such a savvy player, opposing teams beware— Master Stone is BACK!!
The entire team played well, and Hill was sharp. Liked the pace of play.
Congrats to Kessel…he’s a great asset to the team! ( and PP, he looks pretty quick..step slower may be premature on my part…)

        KESSEL

Any thoughts on Amadio vs. Cotter vs. Leschyshyn?

I must say I do like Howden centering a Kessel line. Question is who is the best LW for the line?

    • SMH

For now, I think it’s Amadio – by a whisker over Cotter. Note that Sheldon Rempal at HSK might eventually be an option as well. But if we’re still looking playoff competitive at the trade deadline, I believe 3rd line winger will be the top priority for improvement, and VGK will deal for an upgrade/veteran. Of course, that is all dependent upon the injury situation, which so far (knocking on wood) has been quite good.

      • Pistol Pete

Need an injury to call up an HSK player, otherwise all currently on the roster are subject to waivers, right?

Cassidy was definitely bullish on Cotter entering the regular season. Getting scratched for Amadio has given him plenty to think about. Can he rebound?

      • THE hockey GOD

“whisker” ? more than a whisker, Cotter played himself out of line up. I liked him for game one. AFter that, not much was going on there.

  3. Pistol Pete

Test of a road trip coming up (WSH, OTT, MTL, TOR, BUF). MTL only one not above 500 as of 10/25.

    • THE hockey GOD

every string of games in schedule is a “test”.

      where’s nasty nancy today ?

  4. Jailbird

Great win! Phil the thrill, very good goaltending, again! I like our team!

  5. THE hockey GOD

ESPN woke folk, worst crew. They should have brought back the other crew.

The “TV announcer” had a new player on VGK playing left wing in first period.

    COLD SORE !!! ROFLMAO

    no. 55

    • B-Rad-Lee

She was talking about nothing but Timo all night.
I think it he scored, she would have orgasmed on air.

    • JV

The Mute button is a Must whenever Leah Hextall calls a game. Stick her on the desk between periods. At least I can change the channel.

      • THE hockey GOD

        she’s very doable !

      • Jv, I concur. And I’m a female! I’m all for equal time, but in Top- Tier HOCKEY? It just feels like a square peg in a round hole…just doesn’t fit!

  6. Vic

Nice experience watching the entire game with the sound off and music playing. ESPN is a diversity horrorshow. Chandler took the best penalty of the year against Timo with only a few seconds left. No harm no foul.

    • Pistol Pete

Definitely way prefer Dave Goucher and especially Shane Hnidy.

    • Julie

I have to do that trick…sound off when that woman is announcing. I can’t take her voice, no passion, timing is off, etc. The guy with her had to keep it as light as she did. I say all of this is as an independent woman. I just want the announcer to know hockey, no woke stuff, passion for the game and ideally, interesting voice. Might as well have Pete DeBoer announce it with his molasses-cadence.

Not sure who would be good now, but I liked Doc Emerick, of course – would have tried Gilbert Gottfried, even SNL’s Father Guido Sarducci. John Madden circling the screen probably every two seconds would have been interesting.

      • THE hockey GOD

@Julie , Fr. Guido “find the pope in pizza” Sarducci !! HA HA HA HA HA

I like Foster Hewitt of Leafs, Bruce Martyn of Red wings, and DAnny Gallivan of HABS.

And Vin Scully of Dodgers for baseball, as well as Harry Carey, and Ernie Harwell.
Bob Miller of Kings was good too.

There’s no better color announcer than Jimmy Fox of Kings.

      • Blitz

Yeah I swear she ends every play by play call with a high pitched up tone. It is seriously like a fork on a plate or fingernails on a chalk board. Just awful. The whole broadcast just seemed so bush league.

        • Agreed to all here. The only thing that would make me want to turn the knights game off (or at least the volume) is Leah Hextall. WORST. PLAY BY PLAY ANNOUNCER. EVER.

  7. Pistol Pete

Joe Lombardo in the film “Valiant”:

“I was in police headquarters and I see a couple Knights standing over there and they’re wearing their jerseys and I was a little bit taken aback in the beginning, I don’t time to deal with a couple professional athletes”.

He did go on to acknowledge that Engelland won him over, but fact is when I first saw the film I was definitely taken aback by Lombardo’s selfish inclination to think first of himself and not that obviously these “professional athletes” were there only to help and pitch in. My best guess is he was innately jealous of the money they make.

    • THE hockey GOD

      @ PP
protect and serve is not “innately jealous” ** and he probably wasn’t filled in on what they were doing there in first place. Tell the whole story next time,

**that is a stretch from warped mind of some brain washed far left liberal.

Anything is better than train wreck in Carson City, right now. Shutting down 80,000 small businesses, yet kept strip clubs open. Says all you need to know about Goobner Sissypants.

      • Pistol Pete

If I was in that situation I would be bright enough to know they were there to help.

        • THE hockey GOD

you obviously weren’t there, and were never in law enforcement (and probably one of those “defund the cops” types). At the time they were under a lot of pressure at the time and involved in massive investigation involving hundreds of people exposed to a deadly killer.

I find you position callous , politically motivated, and entirely out of order.

In other words you are a fucking idiot for posting such crap.

I defend the cops , you tear them down.

    • THE hockey GOD

“e did go on to acknowledge that Engelland won him over” pretty much contradicts your statement “My best guess is he was innately jealous of the money they make.”

It’s easy to make these fools on left eat their own words.

      • Pistol Pete

Engelland did win him over. If I was in Lombardo’s situation I would not need to be “won over”. I would see those guys and first know they were good deed doers.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Lombardo’s political views. Just passing along my impression of it when I first saw the film. Honest.

        • THE hockey GOD

considering all woke folk and kneelers in sports I don’t see how anyone with a brain would take your position; unless you hated cops and are part of defund police crowd. Your “impression” is a result of your left leaning brain washed indoctrination.

Did THE SHERIFF deputize them, did they help in mass murder investigation? They did nothing to further the investigation. The sheriff was very busy at the time and didn’t have time of sports entertainment nonsense. He was doing his job.

In other words, translation >>>you are full of shit.

    • Pistol Pete

      Missed a part:

“I have a lot going on here and don’t have time to deal with a couple professional athletes”.

Again, don’t understand why he did not just assume they were there to help vs. thinking of himself first.

That was my honest to God first impression when I saw the film before I knew anything of his views and political aspirations.

      • Arnold Rothstein

PP The video is on youtube, I watched it and didn’t see any of this about “having a lot going on here” , he did- investigating a mass murder !! And “winning over Engelland”, at what time points in the documentary did this happen?

Team ARnold wants to know !

        • Pistol Pete

          27:07

He goes on to explain about “one player in particular Deryk Engelland” and how he was there to help, this after conveying the impression the presence of the players initially bothered him.

  8. THE hockey GOD

when is coach going to put no. 23 on PP ?

    THE FIFTH LINE !

  9. Tim

First congrats to Phil glad he’s part of the Knights. San Jose came out with some energy fortunately it fizzled in the third period. Two points are two points anyway you cut it. Two home games then a tuff road trip approach it one game at a time. First let’s take care of the Ducks it’s open season on Mallards.

    • THE hockey GOD

      >>>>Ducks it’s open season on Mallards.
      rabbit season

  10. Pistol Pete

The ESPN color commentator indicated Cassidy met with Eichel over the summer at Cape Cod. The word I thought was that Cassidy was pitching Patrice Bergeron as a model of what he’d like Eichel to be. Bergeron is like .8 pts/game and +260. A really great two way player. With Eichel’s skating ability he CAN develop into a really good two way player and hopefully a point a game.

  11. knights fan in minny

thats why phil the thrill squats 300 pounds the goal was 90 percent strong legs i still think sister amanda is faster the boys between the pipes are looking good
