Recap: The Golden Knights traveled to Seattle for their second game of a three-game road set. The Kraken outshot the Golden Knights 9 to 7 in the opening period but neither team could find the back of the net. After 20 minutes it was a scoreless tie.
Seattle opened the scoring eight minutes into the 2nd period with a power play goal. Vegas earned a middle frame PP opportunity as well but failed to score. After 40 minutes the home team held a slim 1-0 margin.
Vegas tied the score early on a 3rd period power play. Leading goal scorer Pavel Dorofeyev added his fifth goal of the short 2025-26 season. The game eventually went into overtime to decide a victor. Seattle scored the game-winner with 3.8 seconds remaining.
The Golden Knights’ record drops to 1-0-2, falling 2-1 to the Kraken in overtime. Vegas will remain on the road for one more game on Tuesday evening against Calgary. Puck drop against the Flames is scheduled for 6 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: Another fairly lackluster offensive effort from the Golden Knights. Once again, the power play and some puck luck (SEA hit the post with a few seconds left) helped them get to overtime and at least earn one point out of it. Cassidy mixed up the lines and while they generated a bit more zone time they couldn’t create too much of danger at 5-on-5. 4 points in three games is a lot better than this team probably deserves at this point. Our million dollar wonders aren’t living up to their paycheck by any stretch of imagination. Seattle scoring with seconds left in OT was probably less embarrassing than a shoot out with Hill in goal. Guess you could say they are playing 66 percent hockey 4 out of a possible 6 points.
Emmanuel
2 of those points were handed to them by a chowderhead G!

Game 4 Summary
SEA 2, VGK 1 OTL
Well played game by both teams. However, the offensive firepower we have been expecting has yet to be seen. Once again we had to chase the scoreboard.
Much better play by Hill net.
Here’s a point in the form of a question.
Is there any reason why Toothless feels he had to skate through two Kraken to try and take it the house when he is on the ice skating with Marner and Eichel?
Then why the F*Ck does he try to do it. He has a history of trying to skate through multiple defenders with the puck and more often than not is stripped. That strip led to a very long puck possession by the Kraken.
I don’t feel like giving out a Star to anyone. Oh hell, okay….give on to Pavel for another goal. He’s the only guy on offensive fire right now.
Pistol Pete
Last time you sounded like Hill was awful and would never be any good! Last year he was 2.47 nothing wrong with that.
Richie-Rich
When Hill plays good he gets kudos, when he plays like crap – he gets the deserved beat down. I am not in the locker room, I am a fan.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
FG
This team is great on paper, not on the ice.
Emmanuel
Not really, the roster is lopsided.
Deep @ C & RW
Thin @ LW & G.
So-so D (the F are stifling the other team not the D)
Pistol Pete
I don’t think LW and G is thin. Not at all. D is a
work in progress minus Petro. I would not call the D so so. You are entitled your opinions just think you are selling them short (my opinion).
ThG
thin at left wing= yes
goalie = no
third pair d men = no 6 is not doing so well , so far.
Pistol Pete
For LW, Barbashev/Smith/Saad/Howden is not what I call “thin”. Barbashev works on that line he’s physical, Smith and Saad are not young but both are still decent depth guys and Howden is excellent for a fourth liner.
Hill and Schmidt are fine.
D corp is a work in progress with both Theodore and Hanifin working on upping their minutes and defending to pick up the Petro slack, McNabb is looking to be a guy who plays into his late ‘30’s (we’ll see), Whitecloud is decent and working on being in the top four, Korczak is able a very good skater with offensive upside and Lauzon the jury is out on but he may work he can always be scratched for Hutton (Cassidy coached him in Boston so we’ll see).
Emmanuel
Not so-so bit a work in progress……
Pietro was all world, you cant replace that also 3 D are suddenly asked to play a slot above their level. The really good F checking will help though.
Leonard Wise
You’re right Richie Hill was better tonight. But out of the gate this year they don’t look good. They don’t pass the eye test. Really should be 0-1-2. Luckily they survived with 4 points.
Emmanuel
Bingo! You win the internet.
jake
Vegas misses those long, accurate, on time passes out of the d-zone by Pietrangelo.
Without them, Vegas appears to be skating in mud.
Pistol Pete
Petro did not have an exclusive on that. Other D can make those passes. You can be sure they are working on it.
Pistol Pete
Eichel + Marner on the PK = shorties
The next eight years will be sweet on multiple fronts.
Per Cassidy good game for Adin. Got unlucky to get set up for that rebound with 4 sec. remaining in OT. Contrary to what some believe I thought he’d have a good shoot-out this time.
Richie-Rich
Besides unfounded hope, there is absolutely zero historical evidence to believe that Hill can win shootouts. None, Nada, Nil, Nix. Why Theodore thinks he can skate to the house through 2 opposing Kraken’s in OT is just pure dumb. You have $200+ MILLION dollars of top tier forwards with you on the ice. USE THEM.
Poor decision making.
Lack of game awareness.
Lack of situational awareness.
And, this is not being negative about the season. It’s just my in context evaluation of this game alone.
Emmanuel
Holls biggest issue is workload, not much of a minute muncher in his carreer, that means you have to pay for a good backup to play 25+30 games.
Richie-Rich
I think Schmid is fine, but it looks like the front office want to make a move for Hart. Hill has never been top tier, so I agree with your assessment. He’s proven he can win a cup behind a solid defense. That’s going to be a work in progress. The defense is going to be the determining factor on how far this team can go in the playoffs.
ThG
He was top tier in SC win. His over .9 SP career is not too shabby.
Richie-Rich
ThG – I am simply saying that Hill is NOT TOP TIER. He’s an average goaltender that played well in the SC. I agree, his .9 isn’t shabby but more often than not he’s not going to be carrying the team on his back. He’d be the back up goaltender on at least 10 other NHL clubs. The ONLY reason he is our starter is because he was in goal for key games in the SC run.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Pistol Pete
Have patience. Cassidy is making adjustments so they score more in the playoffs. It won’t happen overnight.
Richie-Rich
Cassidy has been making offensive adjustments now for two years. It’s time to deliver the final product – soon. If he can’t figure it out I think this will be his final curtain. The Creator wants another Cup – now.
Pistol Pete
R-R Cassidy has alluded to the fact that he’s actually tampering with his core strategy of defend first so we’ll see where this goes. The playoffs last year honestly I don’t have it all figured out how the VGK was near the top in scoring and then hit the playoffs. It’s not all that simple. Got hammered by MIN’s top line and then when it came to EDM they were just the better team hard to play against. It all could have gone differently somehow but don’t ask me to explain that, however Cassidy IS apparently looking at revising some aspect of his core approach to the game at least to suit this roster. It’s a bit complicated and we ‘ll just have to wait and see where it goes.
Btw, the DAL series we really should have won. I would not say that was all on Cassidy. Some pretty unlucky shit went down like flukey DAL goals here in game 3 or 4 and game 7 Eichel could not control the puck on the open net and Marchy missed one two.
JB
4 points out of 6. Giddyup! :)

Anatomy of goal – brought to you by wood laying union members of Canada.
The first goal was another deflection, not much goalie can do. Let’s look at the OT goal.
1- line combos, it’s late in OT , coach sends THREE forwards in game. This is on coaching staff
2- faceoff is in d zone
3- hertyl take face off, one of better face off men on team. He proceeds
to lose the face off. Whoever says face offs are not important, at any point in game, obviously is not student of game.
4- Hertyl then proceeds to NOT block a shot
5- Goalie is busy cross checking Seattle, eventual goal scorer in back, had no business doing this. But risking a penalty at this stage is a no brainer. So it puts
goalie at an uneven position on pending shot, that Hertyl misses to block.
5- shot goes high on goalie, right under mask, a difficult bounce to bring in. Goalie drops to left side trying to get puck.
6- #93 a VGK forward allows his man to get position in front of net, #93 was BEHIND the Kraken forward/center and had no leverage on puck or that players stick
7- O forward puts puck into open right side of net.

Yeah, and while Jared McCann is focused on the rebound, Marner, instead of trying to sweep the puck away, hooks McCann, and then trips him! So McCann gets X-checked, shoves Mitch, gets hooked, gets tripped, and while falling, in mid-air, lifts and buries the biscuit. The concentration on winning in OT was on the home side.

JB
All about points in regular season. Not playing very good right now, but, four out of six points. Things will get better, you know it will. Just the usual early games bitching, we have seen here over the years. Entertaining, but means nothing! Peace. ;)
Tim
With all our Star Power and there’s no doubt we do have all the Star Power there is no way we can only score one goal. 60 minutes and that’s it? The old wait Cassidy will figure it out is bullshit as we lose 2 out of the first three games. This team should’t need a coach to score it’s all instinct and really no excuses. Let’s face it the Kings and Kracken aren’t exactly juggernauts if we can’t beat them Colorado, Dallas, Florida, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Edmonton to name a few will kick our ass because we may be a all show and no go team. Everyone have told them how great they are and it looks like there reading there press clippings.
JB
Hey Timmy. How, do you, know, we can’t beat those teams you mentioned? Just wondered where you got your info? Enjoy brother!
ThG
hey old m an TIMMAH they do NOT show up as losses in the LOSS column. Now get off the floor and look at the standings
wins – 1
losses – 0
Get back to baseball where they don’t county over time. Know your sport !!
Vic
Is there OT practice by the VGK? Other teams (good or bad) seem to play the OTs to perfection with perfect passes, puck possession, regrouping, only taking a shot when it’s a grade A, and winning faceoffs.
Saad needs some bench time as he seems invisible. Hats off to Hutton as he steps in and almost always makes good plays.
Time to get the rust off and play like a team for the full 60.
JB
Yea Hutty stepped up for his partner last night. He may not be the most talented but always play hard. Love the guy!
Emmanuel
They have a 95% chance of making the playoffs in a VERY weak division.
They have a better than 50% chance of winning a round.
Its not about “negative nillyism” its about a simple question:
Can they beat any of the top 8 teams in a 7 game series?
I havent seen any evidence YET.
The weak division is making them complacent IMHO.
arnold rothstein
Sure it isn’t 95.9999999% chance ? Wise guy ?
ThG
Happy Columbus Day!!!!!
Larry
I tried posting this last night, and for whatever reason it did not show up here this morning even though it was all hockey related.
It is a controversial subject, and that subject is Alex Pietrangelo, in my opinion too many posters have this idealized version of #7 of yesteryear and not the player of the last 2 years.
While I grant and acknowledge the warrior that he was, the eye test of what he had become was getting harder and harder to watch and accept.
The number of shots he attempted had diminished as well as his accuracy as he was prone to widely missing the net in prime scoring position.
His lack of physicality could have been any number of factors, age, over 1000 games played, undisclosed injuries, he took a physical beating with body checks leveled against him with nary a response in return, remember how he was manhandled by tkachuk in the Finals.
I believe that the D corp will be stronger with a younger faster Korczak in the lineup rather than how #7 might have looked had he been able to play this year.
I was dead set against him signing with VGK, but we got a Stanley Cup out of it and very well could’ve/should’ve been 2 if would have beaten the habs( how did we not????? Sigh), but basically have come full circle now with him on LTIR and using that money to sign Marner.

Hey Larry that was a lot of stuff you put in there, most of it i agree with but looking at our defenseman now maybe he would be better but i just dont know. im actually kinda surprised that you havent been blasted here by some of the posters who are still big petrangelo fans.
