Recap: The Golden Knights were trying to extend their winning streak to six games with a victory in Nashville. Each club had several chances but the period ended in a scoreless tie.
The Predators opened the scoring 5:33 into the middle frame with a power play goal. Minutes later Jack Eichel tied the contest notching his 27th goal of the season. After 40 minutes the game was locked in a 1-1 score.
Vegas drew a penalty in the final period and Reilly Smith found the net to give his club a one goal edge. Later Vegas tacked on an empty net goal to finish Nashville off by two. With seconds remaining Brett Howden added the empty net dagger.
The Golden Knights record improves to 45-20-8 defeating the Predators 3-1 in Nashville. Vegas will head back home for a two game set against Edmonton and Winnipeg. Puck drop against the Oilers is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 PM.(Recap by Jason)
Analysis: On the second night of a back to back with travel the game was unsurprisingly a bit more open than normal. However, both goalies we’re solid which kept it low scoring. Eventually, as has been the case an unbelievable amount of times this year, VGK earned a power play, cashed in, and won the game. (Recap by Ken)

See… Rather than call it a scheduled loss, just win instead.
3 bad teams, 3 nice wins for VGK and a rare road trip sweep.

The #1 power play in the NHL strikes again!
VGK lead for the first time tonight.
— SinBin.vegas (@SinBinVegas) March 30, 2025
VGK very very rarely get challenges wrong. That continues here and we are tied again.

JB
Nice looking win for a back to back! Anyone hear why Sammy didn’t start? He was supposed to, but was yanked late and Hilly started, and did great, again. Was glad to see Smitty get his first goal for us. Ya know, I think we have a pretty damn good team guys!
Jose
The Pacific division race is over. Kings just lost tonight. Vegas is up nine points.
FG
So we win the Pacific and get the Blues, the hottest team in the NHL!? Great.
Larry
FG….rather than the hypothetical stated scenario you have described in that VGK has to face the hottest team in the blues… how do you think the blues would feel having as their reward to face the Vegas Golden Knights????
mcart
let’s hope it is not a replay of 2019.
it will be 2023 vs 2019.
Binnington is still there, and he is on another late season streak.
It will be former 2019 Blues Petro and Barby vs Binnington in the 2019 rematch.
NAM
I don’t put a lot in the Blues current streak. 9 wins and only 2 potential playoff teams (AVS and MIN and MIN is super hurt). 3 games versus NSH, 1 CHI, 1 ANA. To their credit they won, but it isn’t really that impressive. Vegas still wins in 5.

Game 73 Analysis VGK 3, NSH 1
Pacific 1st 45-20-8, 98pts, +55gf/ga
Western tied for 2nd with the Stars behind the Jets
League tied for 3rd with the Stars behind the Jets and Caps
The VGK wins it 6th straight game. Hill in playoff mode. It wasn’t an easy one. The VGK didn’t take control until the 3rd period and put the game away with an empty net goal by Bretsky Howden
My Stars:
(3) Aidin Hill
(2) Reilly Smith (GWG)
(1) Mark Stone (G/A, 2pts)
There are 9 games left in the season. Edmonton is next and Draisaitl is expected to be back on the ice. It will be interesting to see how drops out when Hertl returns. It’s nice to have tough decisions!

It will be Pearson for sure imo. Cassidy likes the Karlsson-Smith line with Olofsson and so do I. Howden-Roy-Kolesar should be good.
Locking up the Pacific within sight. Even have a shot at overtaking WPG as we play them here on Thursday. We want WPG to beat the Kings however.

They are the hottest team at the moment. They could lose the last four games of the season and all of a sudden be the coldest team.
Hdbiker7851
They won – the hottest team – that’s a stretch. They pulled it out in the third. Next week will be another test for the boys – being home could be an advantage but l never like getting the chicken before the egg. They will need their “A” game which should be possible with a couple of days off. Great to see Smitty break the ice and hopefully it is just the start.
Rashaad
I was referring to the St. Louis Blues and response to someone else’s comment.
JB
So, pulling it out in the third , is a negative thing?
TS
I worried we would drop this game, playing so soon after Friday’s game, but the boys pulled it off. I lost count how many steals Stone made with his long stick–he’s a slick pick- pocket! Good showing by a no- doubt tired team, adding tough- to- win travel points. Great time to rack up the wins!
Jose
Jonathan Marchessault last 11 games……
0 goals
1 assist
1 point
-8
13 shots on net
Father time is undefeated. Marchessault will not beat father time. It comes for all of us. It came for Alec Martinez. It will even come for Jack Eichel one day. Some think that father time is already paying Alex Pietrangelo a visit.
You just can’t have too many ageing veterans on the team.

JM is having such a hard time he says he’s having mental issues and is seeking therapy from a shrink.
Vic
Wouldn’t be surprised if he was suffering from some sort of mental issues after choosing the path he did. He made a poor career decision and who knows the impact the move had on the family.
NAM
Even beyond #81, I really thought NSH was going to be a juggernaut this year with all of their horse power and boy was I wrong. Not sure if it is a bad mix of players, bad coaching, but it doesn’t always work how you draw it up, that is for sure.
Frank
Just goes to show you, you can’t necessarily buy success. It has to work on the ice.

Petro is definately on the down side of his career and will need to be replaced soon.

I read that Marchy is going through some mental issues right now so let’s hope that he overcomes that quickly.
Facts are facts. Dorofeyev is the younger replacement. It took Marchy until he was 26 years old to score 30 goals and really get going. Dorofeyev is a scoring machine right now at 24 years old. The creator of this website won’t admit this. This is why the best front office in the league runs this team and the fans don’t.
Pistol Pete
Rashaad you are right this is a great FO. Stone, Pietrangelo, Eichel, Hill, Hertl, and Hanifin along with recent secondary adds like Olofsson and Saad. Excellent scouting and deal making. I should probably not even mention Marner but I will. Just imagine if he decides to enter free agency. Finding enough cap space to sign him means moving a couple big pieces. I wonder if McCrimmon is even considering this. If Marner wants to leave Toronto can you think of a team more than the VGK he’d rather be on? Perennial contender, good FO, good owner, great place to live and work. Same draft class (#4) as Eichel and Hanifin. Way above a point a game, defends and kills penalties. More a set up guy than a goal scorer a bit like Eichel though Eichel is 32 goals/82 games and Marner is 27. The question for scouting is would Marner and Eichel bring out the best in each other? More than likely not enough space. Barbashev would not be enough so who else? I know, let’s concentrate on the here and now and win another Cup first!
ThG
They are only as good as last SC won, in eyes of fickle fan base morons.
Vic
Every season you remind people to be patient and wait for the team to be at full strength. The team loses a few and they are the worst. They put a streak together and they are the best. This adds to your legend of being correct 98.47% of the time.

The Media’s Pattern of Deception
This incident follows a familiar pattern of media outlets making sensational claims about the Trump administration that later prove unfounded. I’m noticing this happens with alarming frequency.
Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words: “It’s very clear Goldberg oversold what he had.”

Adin has been rock solid lately. Hope he can keep it going for the playoff run!
Vic
I was wrong when I thought he was average at best as he has looked very solid. His stats put him up there with the best and he has kept the team in game after game with timely huge saves. His puck handling skills aside, he is getting stronger with each game.
Jose
FYI….. when I post anything about how Dorofeyev is performing better than Marchessault, it’s not to troll Marchy, but just to say how the front office made the right decision.
Marchy did what was best for his family. The team owed him nothing and he owed the team nothing. They gave him his opportunity getting him from Florida and he intern performed admirably. They surrounded him with great talent which also helped.
His Nashville story has just begun and who knows what happens next year. Players come and go. Logan Thompson also made a decision which may have been the right one for him.

From Charles Barkley “alexia” app. “Chuck Box”
AI Overview
Noah Dobson currently has a three-year, $12 million contract with the New York Islanders, expiring at the end of the 2024-25 season, carrying a $4 million cap hit. He is a restricted free agent and is expected to seek a significant pay raise in his next contract.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
Current Contract:
Term: 3 years
Total Value: $12 million
Average Annual Value (AAV): $4 million
Signed: August 22, 2022
Expiration: End of the 2024-25 season
Upcoming Contract:
Dobson is expected to be a restricted free agent at the end of his current contract
He is likely to seek a significant pay raise, potentially in the $8-10 million AAV range, reflecting his market value as a top offensive defenseman
The Islanders may face challenges in affording Dobson’s next contract, especially with existing long-term commitments to other players
Contract Negotiations:
Dobson’s agent change to Wasserman Hockey, which has a history of negotiating large contracts, may indicate a focus on a long-term deal.
The Islanders have leverage as they can match any offer, but failing to sign Dobson could hurt the team in the future.
The Islanders may also explore trading Dobson for an elite scorer, though it is not confirmed.

It may be slightly counter intuitive, but given the separation VGK has on the ^&*(%$ oilers and kings, I find myself rooting for the kings to beat the sharks tonight and for them to grab a 2 point lead over the ()*&%$ oilers and a possible home ice advantage should they(hopefully) meet in the playoffs!

VGK all the way, they’re the best in the west and stronger than ever.
