NASHVILLE PREDATORS 5 VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4 (39-25-8, 86 PTS) – OT

Recap: It didn’t take long for the Golden Knights to take the first lead in Nashville. Vegas’ Ivan Barbashev recorded his 16th goal of the season 2:45 into the game. A couple of shifts later Brett Howden doubled Vegas’ advantage and Shea Theodore widened the lead to 3-0.

Both teams swapped power players in the middle frame but neither could take advantage. Nashville eventually got on the scoreboard with a goal late in the period. Fortunately, William Karlsson regained Vegas’ three goal lead and took a 4-1 lead into the second intermission.

The train went off the tracks in the 3rd period though as Nashville stormed back to tie the game. Ryan O’Reilly scored about six minutes in and then Filip Forsberg brought it one closer. It appeared the third goal would come back due to an offside challenge but they ruled it a good goal. On the ensuing power play, Nashville tied it.

In OT, Roman Jose drove the goal and slipped one around Jiri Patera.

The Golden Knights record falls to 39-25-8 falling the Predators 5-4 in Nashville. Vegas will continue their four-game road trip up north in Winnipeg for a matchup on Thursday. Puck drop against the Jets is scheduled for 5 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: The Golden Knights were excellent to start this game in Nashville as the forecheck at the Predators alive in the 1st. Things started to go a bit haywire in the 2nd as the Red pushed back but VGK somehow escaped it with a three goal lead. It went downhill quickly in the 3rd as they squandered a massive lead. hell of a meltdown

  2. Jose

It’s too bad they didn’t hang on. Some fatigue and a little bad luck from the goal challenge that they lost. I’m certainly happy that they got the point and saved Logan Thompson from a very tough night of work. On to Winnipeg.

  3. JB

Well I said I hope we get a point. We did, but should have had two. We just gave out in the third. Mistakes caught up with us. Jiri overwhelmed in the final 10 minutes. Still I thought the boys played an inspired game. Take the point and move on.

    • Rashaad

I agree but still stings a little bit. Feels more like we gave up a point then we got one.

Technically we got one and pushed Minnesota and St. Louis further away.

Game 72 Analysis STL 5 VGK 4 OTL

    VGK records now stands at 39-25-8, 86pts .597, +18 GF/GA

That one hurt being up 4-1 with 20 minutes left. Felt like a loss despite picking up a point. Another collapse in the 3rd period. Was it the back-to-back? AHL level goaltending? No, I don’t think so. Patera played great for 40 minutes and I really don’t think he is to blame for the 3 third period goals. I think the Golden Knights did not handle the 3rd period forecheck very well and their exits were not clean at all. Huge was the 3rd period power play was a total mess. Not a single clean pass in the OZ. Again, hurts to let this one get away and allowing NSH to get any points at all. The Predators extended their points lead over Vegas to 4 points with their OT win.

Stars? Sorry guys, no stars given when you blow a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period. Stanley Cup Champions do not give up 3 goals in the 3rd period at this point in the season. Every time I think that the VGK has finally turned the corner to compete for 60 minutes they pull a boner like this, which raises a lot of questions.

    1st Star – Zero
    2nd Star – No body
    3rd Star – None

There are 10 games left in the season. The VGK must go 6-4 in order to reach 98 points. The Golden Knights still remain in control of their own destiny to make the postseason. Next up are the Winnipeg Jets 42-25-4 (88pts) .620 and +25 GF/GA who have won 5 straight and are 8-0-2 in their last 10 games. The VGK can get back to within 1 point of Nashville with a win tomorrow night. The question is who will be in goal on this back-to-back schedule? The obvious choice is Jiri Patera.

Sorry, the Jets have 94 points right now, 3rd in the Central with a 44-22-6 record and +/- GF/GA of +44.

    • Barb

Are we supposed to be impressed with miles of your ‘opinion’ and stats that we can easily know or look up? I watched the game and don’t need you to tell me what I saw. Just zip it!

      • Richie-Rich

Wow, what crawled up your ass this evening? Recommendation: When you’re sour lock your keyboard up in a safe and walk away. Bitch.

        • TS

Rr, I, first one, enjoy your stats and opinions! You obviously put a lot into your posts, unlike some here who would rather bitch about others. than actually post something relevant. Carry on!

      • TS

Barb, you don’t have to read the posts, right? So WHY bitch about others’ efforts?? Kinda petty, don’t you think?

      • Wingenter

        Barb is a cunt!!!!

    • Niggles

They do not play again tomorrow! They play Thursday.

  5. DeezNutz

I just knew that once they had a 3 goal lead they would all turn into chicken shit in the 3rd period again trying desperately to protect a lead. This team is way too mentally soft for this kind of hockey. I’m starting to really dislike Cassidy’s system of turtling and letting the other team completely dominate you until your lead evaporates. Shout out to Adin Hill for his 3rd injury of the season and an extra special shout out for Carrier for his 5th injury of the season. Theodore is more of a liability on defense than he is a positive on offense Noah Hanifin is a significantly better defenseman than he will ever be. Such an unnecessary and embarrassing loss maybe they miss the playoffs now by 1 point so we can all look back at this chicken shit collapse. Fuck this pathetic team

    • Barb

OK DeezNutz. Does this mean that you hate the Knights and we won’t have to hear from you again? Maybe there is another hockey team could critique instead?

    • knights fan in minny

the ass hole whiny bitch at it again another worthless post go away you piece of shit loser

    • JB

Maybe they MAKE the playoffs by one point and we look back to this game!

  6. Satan

Good evening all. Satan is back in time for the playoff run to watch the greatest team in the history of professional sports challenge for a second Stanley Cup. This fan site needs him especially with crybaby pussies like Diesel Nutz. Good night to you all. Satan will be back to post after the Winnipeg game.

    • SMH

Hooray for Satan! Welcome back to planet Earth, where the same tired old daily posters continue to whine and shit on the defending Stanley Cup champions at every opportunity. All hail Satan!

  7. In other sports you bring in a relief pitcher: or a situational player in other sports. Why did we not see Logan Thompson for the OT?. I know it’s never done, but… Also, incidentally I was defining off sides to my wife early in the third period. Then an obvious off sides where you can see the puck completely over after the Nashville players skate was over. Happy to get the point, but could have been RSP!

  8. Great way to lose giving up 4 goals after leading by 3. Same story as last night only a different ending. You would think by now they would realize you can’t just play well for 40 minutes and expect to win. Why they thought they could let up in the third is hard to accept let alone understand. They almost appear to be brain dead. They definitely qualify as slow learners. What a waste of a sound first period effort. They are like two different teams again this evening. I always have concern about their play when they built up any kind of lead as they seem to believe by magic or something it will remain that way. You would think after 72 games they would have figured it out. Guess one point is better than none.

    • Barb

Another VGK hater? Why do you even watch them?

      • NAM

Hey Barb, people are talking about the game, but all you want to do is talk about other posters. Why don’t you give it a rest and let people talk hockey.

      • Barb – you apparently confuse fact and critical observation as hate – I feel sorry for you if you can’t tell the difference between the two. By the way critical realistic observation has nothing to do with whether a person is a loyal VGK fan.

  9. It certainly seemed I was going to be 50% on my predictions for this game.

    1) Logan would definitely start…and regardless to the outcome he should have…but I defer to the HC

    2) VGK would exact revenge for the last home game against the preds…and end their streak like they had ended the oilers

But instead i shockingly ended up striking out and left with a gooseegg on my
    predictions!

Yeah we got a point but it was more like a slap in the face or a left-handed compliment…certainly completely unsatisfying.

About the best I can say is the avs shockingly lost at home to the habs…and the stars are up 2-0 at the sharks..as i am now a stars fan cause they are looking like our first round opponent…and of the 3 evils i would rather face them in the first round rather than the avs or oilers…though i still believe skinner will be the downfall of the oilers.

  10. DeezNutz

So what VGK team are we going to see against Winnipeg? I think we’ll see the version of them that can’t score goals if their life depended on it. There will be a lot of o-zone time and shots on net but there will also be a lot of missed nets and missed breakaways. Hopefully they can keep Winnipeg to just 1 goal and lose it in OT for a point. If I’m Hanifin I’m definitely not signing to this struggling fringe playoff team in the off-season

    • niggles

      Hanifin’s definitely signing with VGK.

      • DeezNutz

If they miss the playoffs I’d be shocked if he decides to sign with VGK. Why would he want to play for the most injury prone team in the league that constantly struggles to score goals and score on breakaways and wide open nets? Does he want to play in a system that requires near perfect defending night in and night out to squeak out wins against bottom feeder teams? If I’m Hanifin I’m signing with a team that isn’t soft and mentally fragile like the VGK.

        • TS

Deez, we’re all frustrated. Maybe a little less of the negativity would be a POSITIVE right now!

    • Pistol Pete

Stone the captain is out injured, Petro has missed the last few games due to illness and Hertl for whom there is cap space when Stone is on LTIR is not yet back. Pretty key pieces that are missing yet this team has managed to get three points in the first two games of this critical road trip. VGK basher that you are you love it when they they struggle so you can unload on us the real fans. Bet you really want them to lose against the Jets anti-fan that you are so you can feast on another defeat!

    • knights fan in minny

what version are we going to see from you the whiney bitch that you are

  11. Rob S.

Part of this has to go on the coach, as well. I really like Cassidy, but he made two moves at the end of the game that were mind-boggling. You don’t challenge Nashville’s third goal unless the video shows incontrovertible proof that the play was offsides (yes, it was offsides, but they weren’t going to overturn that unless it was obvious) BECAUSE YOUR FREAKING PENALTY KILL IS GOING TO GIVE UP THE TYING GOAL!! Also, why in the hell would you put Stevie and the ghost of Shea Theodore (he’s not right physically; just watch him) out there to start 3-on-3!? The result is Josi drives right around the pylon that was Theodore (Stephenson wasn’t much help, either) to win the game.

One more point: given the number and severity of the injuries the VGK have endured for the last 3 seasons, isn’t it time to review every bit of the health, nutrition, training, and rehab operation?

    • DeezNutz

The reason he plays Theodore is because Theodore is one of our mentally weakest players and not playing him would send him on an emotional downward spiral I’m afraid would be impossible for him to come out of. Just look at how Theodore’s performance took a nosedive the day we signed Petro. That’s because Petro threatened his role on the team and took all his confidence away. I’d much rather we sign Hanifin and move on from Theodore. Unfortunately Hanifin is going to sign to a cup contender and we’ll be stuck with nervous Theo.

      • knights fan in minny

coming from the mentally weak poster numb nutz start watching corn hole thats mor your style

    • ThG

      spot on rob

    • Duckboy

I thought the challenge was a horrible idea

There has to be some sort of probability analysis than can be done comparing a 50/50 chance of challenge success and chance to win from 4-2 with ~7 mins left and chance to win with failed challenge 4-3 lead with a 2 min pp with 7 mins left and 4-3 lead with 7 min left and no challenge no power play

On the surface as the team leading the points in the last wild card spot the least volatile selection to maximize 2 points would have been not to challenge

But that math is beyond me

      • Duckboy – just a quick question and observation – how would you have felt, if the challenge stood in Vegas’s favor? We are all excellent Monday morning quarterbacks which doesn’t mean squat. While we are on the subject how did you feel about the love fest at the end of the game with the Preds and the ref? Your option on that would be interesting.

        • duckboy

ok did my very rudimentary AI analysis to come up with a sweet a** guess as to the probabilities using average % to score per minute at 5v5, 2 min power play, 6-5 at the end of a game for 1min 30sec with 7 mins of game time. assumes only the tying goal is scored also. also assumes no EN goal.

These are all estimated and rough:

          No challenge
          – chance to get a point 40%
          – chance to get 2 points~53%
          – chance to get 0 points ~7%
          Challenge loss
          – chance to get a point 55%
          – chance to get 2 points ~35%
          – chance to get 0 points ~10%
          Challenge win
          – chance to get a point 93%
          – chance to get 2 points ~94%
          – chance to get 0 points ~1%

If this is right (which i am not sure), i can see why the challenge was made as the outcomes are far more likely.

  12. Pistol Pete

Did not see the game yet but what happened with that offsides challenge? When it was lost it lead to the PP and tying goal. A big swing there. Ken thought it was offsides and tweeted something about how they did not even announce the decision on the challenge. Guess Patera made some wonderful saves but in the end was not the difference maker.

Pretty scary stats. Looks like Cassidy wanted to rest Thompson. Lucky he got a point out of Patera.

    https://www.nhl.com/goldenknights/player/jiri-patera-8480238

    • DeezNutz

Who cares about the blown offsides call the team was already in full blown VGK choke mode at that point and Nashville were going to win that game regardless. The team is too mentally weak for high leverage moments it’s pretty much their identity at this point. This team is about to go on another losing streak down the stretch so get ready to be laughed at and dunked on as a fan from the rest of the league (we deserve it too)

    • Pistol Pete

So the decision was announced not sure what Ken tweeted about. For sure Cassidy got robbed on that challenge. It was clear in the stop frame that it was offsides not like against Seattle when it was clearly inconclusive, I will not be a whiner and say they lose this game anyways if it was called back to 4-2. As far as Patera vs. LT in this game it’s impossible to say but he does have a tendency to make good saves but in the end allows 3 goals or more. Call it bad luck or call it not good enough to play in the NHL. Small sample but Cassidy knew he was taking a chance starting him to rest LT. At least he got a point and is clear of the Blues by six points with each team having 10 games remaining. I predict they put together a good sixty minutes against the Jets. Imo the 3rd period meltdown is being over lamented here. Not a great period but the offsides challenge is what lost the game in the end.

      • Pistol Pete

And what was that with Josi after OT telling his teammates that he’s calling the ref back out onto the ice from the tunnel and they hug and shake hands with him like they are thanking him for the offsides call that lead to the win?

        • TS

Pp, yeah, that exchange was curious, indeed. Just innocent home ice bantor, or???? Very astute observation, sir!

          • JB

That lineman is retiring. That’s why the handshakes etc..

      • DeezNutz

Oh Patera is a terrible NHL goalie don’t get it confused but it’s not his fault that our 5 million dollar backup goalie is a walking band-aid. Patera should have never been put in this situation to begin with. The players and coaches all knew Patera was good for a minimum of 4 goals against and they refused to play accordingly. This team will lose to the Jets and it will either be because they struggle to score goals like NHL players or because they can’t hold a lead and it likely will be a combination of both judging by how this disaster of a season has gone so far. This team is not elite whatsoever.

        • knights fan in minny

did you kick your dog tonight mr bitter nutz

          • TS

Kfim, good question…he seems a tad grumpy, even for the NUT(Z)!

        • Pistol Pete

DeezNutz that makes no sense at all. They scored four legitimate goals. The winning two goal game against STL notwithstanding scoring has not been the problem per se. Not getting an extra two per game with better finishing, fine that could happen but they have been scoring. Mostly it’s been 3rd period defensive lapses recently. You don’t know the game if you think in today’s game you can win the Cup on offense alone. Defensive structure and the commitment of all five skaters to it is integral to going all the way. TBL and COL won without defending? Why have EDM and TOR failed with the massive offensive output? They don’t defend well enough. So don’t go saying Cassidy’s defend first approach is not the key to his team’s success. You can’t have it both ways.

  13. So a deeper dive, though more a cursory look and eye ball test regarding the remainder of the season.

As I’ve postulated, it would appear that VGK will end up as the overall 8 seed , which would mean they would face the winner of the other division, which I am hoping will be the stars rather than the avs.

The avs have clearly the more difficult schedule moving forward, while very concerningly the blues have the easiest, which means there is very little margin for error for VGK regardless to the current 6 point cushion!

Thru 40 last night it really looked like we had turned a corner, sadly didn’t turn out to be so, ending in an extremely bittersweet 1 point gained, hopefully they will be even better against the suddenly struggling jets on Thursday!

    • NAM

As the #8 seed you face the #1 seed of the *conference*. That will most likely be VAN, COL, or DAL. It is not limited to “winner of the other division”. Right now it is a very close race between those 3 teams.

If you are the #7 seed you play the “other” division winner that is not the #1 seed (division winner). I doubt preds give up this spot and I doubt the knights can claim it.

There is still a chance that VGK over take LAK for 3rd and would then almost certainly play EDM.

  14. ThG

    that was offsides !!

  15. The hockey God

no it wasn’t , that was a good time out by coach, pk blew it

  16. TS

    Such a promising game..
Until it wasn’t. Gotta think the guys ran outta gas in the 3rd, and the failed challenge was a gift to Nashville. (Was it too close to call our way, or was it a “home ice” call against us?) That call turned the tide, and Nashville cashed in big time. Better one point than none…

    • Good question – did you notice the love fest at the end when preds and ref met after calling the ref back to the ice? Looked strange to me but there is probably a “good’ explanation.

      • Pistol Pete

Yes I saw that. Josi called the ref back out onto the ice from the tunnel where he embraced and shook their hands. They were thanking him for the call that won them the game and kept their streak going. Pretty disgusting and it was a bogus call. You could clearly see the second skate over the line before the puck.

        • The hockey God

that was ON SIDES yo idiot !

        • PP – amazing we certainly agree on that – not only disgusting definitely not professional and frankly shocking to see the refs come out to begin with. I was surprised the challenge didn’t hold up and also thought there could have been a challenge for goalie interference as Patera got a stick to the head laying in the goal.

      • JB

        He’s retiring, geez!

  17. Tim

Played great for two periods went into prevent defense in the third and prevent defense prevents winning it’s that simple. Patera gave a good effort considering he was in over his head. If by chance they can beat the Jets and Wild 6 points on a tough road trip would be wonderful.

  18. JB

Everybody settle the F down. We played outstanding thru 40 minutes . Our AHL goalie finally got overwhelmed. No doubt we ran out of gas. The Preds are a very good offensive team. It’s our last back to back for the season and we don’t play any in the playoffs. We will be fine!

    • Pistol Pete

Absolutely JB. A perfectly rational reasonable way to be upbeat about the situation. I have been chastised here going back a few years for tending to see things in rose colored glasses lol. Not at all. Just fair optimism. I say we see a good effort Thursday night.

  19. Pistol Pete

This team has never had high powered individual scoring. Eichel is basically a point a game player as is Stone since in Vegas. For a team that went to four conference finals in six years including winning the Cup in one of them it is astounding that Karlsson still holds the regular season record of 78 pts. If not McDavid, Draisaitl, Mathews, MacKinnon type scoring how do they do it? Team play and a good locker room. Defensively responsible. Good FO, good owner. Great fan support in a terrific arena setting.

They are more prone to struggle without the great scorers. Explains the historically high shot totals and just normal goal totals due to the lack of consistent high end finishing. The hard to play against identity has its roots in year one but has become more of a heavy team playing Cassidy’s tight defensive structure, heavy forechecking. Above average number of injuries. Is there a better way? Will Edmonton and Toronto figure it out some one of these years? Will this be the Panthers’ year, the team who has won exactly one in nine SC Finals games? Does Carolina defend well enough? The Rangers etc. etc.?

  20. LVsc

The loser last night was the Vgk rope a dope system that inherently allows the opponent to dominate the play whenever they send their players harder to the forecheck, and get more involved in an offensive push when trailing in the game.

It now seems ingrained into the Vgk players to go into passive, protect-a-lead mode in the 3rd periods, and it usually comes back to bite them in the ass.
Their best success last night was from behind the opponent net, and THAT is where they should be putting the puck in the 3rd period. instead, they just played east west turnover in their own zone and the neutral zone in the 3rd.

Wayne Gretzky had his “office” behind the net, and that is what the Vgk did so well and successfully last night in the first 2 periods. Just do MORE of that for 60 minutes instead of 40, and the leads won’t evaporate. Hell, even Mantha looked good from behind the net, which is proof that it works.

    • Pistol Pete

That’s a good point about controlling behind the net in the O zone but in today’s game you always find pressure against the forecheck back there requiring passing between more than one attacker to maintain a presence there, right?

As far as pressure in the D zone from a good offensive team pushing to get back in the game, that can be hard to counter at times, right? I would say that was true last night. The solution is strength on puck and precise puck management enabling turnovers that lead to break outs, all easier said than done depending on how things go independent of the best efforts. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan despite best efforts. To make matters worse when the opponent gets a chance they happen to score when other times with a similar chance they don’t. It’s easy for us to Monday morning quarterback these situations but if we were out there trying to execute as players it does not always go according to the book despite trying very hard.

Same thing for the neutral zone. Things can go poorly despite best efforts.

This was a hard fought heavy checking playoff type game. Vegas was playing a b-2-b so fatigue may have been an issue as well.

    • TS

LV, it does seem the team lays back after getting a decent lead, playing D to protect that lead, when they end up letting the other team back in it. There is NEVER a big enough lead.

  21. Frank

Lost this game on special teams…. which are god awful right now…. Both the power play and the penalty kill need serious work and more aggression. I hate the way we collapse on the PK – giving opposing teams way too much time and space. In any event, a great first 40 minutes…. very lousy and uninspired third as the preds were clearly the fresher team. A point is a point though and 3 out of 4 points against playoff contenders is not bad. On to Winnipeg.

That’s it Frank. Special teams have to be better. Now the team needs to feed off the third period catastrophe and move on. Coach took too much risk with the challenge considering our PK and the momentum.

What I saw at the left faceoff circle on the glass at Bridgestone was a complete collapse on defense in the 3rd allowing the preds to go after Patera at will. First 2 periods defense was supporting Patera.

You could clearly see on the jumbotron that offsides was the correct call on the goal challenge but of course it didn’t always work out our way.

I felt pretty good about the game going into the 2nd intermission. But then I heard that train a coming. It’s coming around the bend.
We the kings of blowing 3 pt lead starting the 3rd, and me and my wife both KNEW we would lose the game in ot and sure enough, we folded in the 3rd.

All that bs about gaining a point instead of losing one is all just feel good rose colored glasses hippie bullshit because if we won that game without going to ot, we climbed up to 2 pts behind 1st wild card spot, but letting them get to OT we are 3 points behind which is at least 2 games we have to win where Nashville has to lose those same games, and the odds are not with us on that. 2nd wild card still gets us to posy season but St. Lou playing GREAT hockey, and with the knights playing as inconsistent as they are there is no guarantee.

Besides all that got some great T-ravs , in the Lou at Mama’s on the hill, and some great Que at Peg Leg Porker in TN.

Met TONS of knights fans with zero connection to Las Vegas this trip. Bandwagon, support the cup winners even though never been to Vegas kinda fans.
I think the vgk fans were ALMOST as loud as the Blues fans. When Thompson stopped the penalty shot and flopped on his ass the whole arena went insane with Vgk fans.

Fans much more quiet in Nashville

Hey pal, would you rather not have had us gain that one point? If we get one point in each of out remaining games we’ll be in the playoffs! Right now one point is very important!

      • Perro

The extra point means NOTHING at this point in the season and here is why.

1 win not in overtime = 2 points

If we beat them in regulation we would be behind them by 2 points which means we would have to win one game and they would have to lose 1 game to be tied for first wild card.

Since we only got 1 point by allowing them to get to overtime we are now behind them by 3 points which would mean we have to win 2 games and they have to lose 2 games to take 1st wild card.

There are not many games left. 10 to be exact.

With the schedule we play versus the schedule they play, and the way they are playing so much better than us the odds of overcoming 2 Games versus 1 is FAR harder.

THAT is why gaining 1 point is a bunch of feel good happy BS that doesn’t mean anything.

The further we get into the season the harder it is to make up games and climb our way out of a hole.

Odds are we make it to post season. But at ANY time St Louis or Minnesota can turn up the heat, where we remain soft and knock us out of the post season.

With the way we have blown games lately, do not discount us going on a steal where we can’t score to save our lives.

        This is hockey after all

Avs lost to the lowly Habs 2-1 at home. Just could not finish against them. Vegas was not the only contender to have a bad result that night.

  24. Pistol Pete

That was a good game. Vegas played great a good deal of it. That time the Preds really pushed in the third and were the better team though that does not make them the better team overall. It can happen that way. Even with that had Cassidy not challenged the call they may have been able to win 4-3 in regulation though it’s impossible to say. IMO they deserved to win the game. People who question that opinion are not considering the impact of losing that challenge.

    • Pistol Pete

And frankly harder to do with Patera in the net. More tenuous anyways.

    • Rob S.

PP, I don’t disagree with the rest of your comment, but 16-0-2 in their last 18 and coming off the mat from down 3 in the third period to win says the Preds *are* the better team right now.

      • Pistol Pete

Rob S, not by much. VGK was clearly the better team early on and the Preds may not have won the game if not for the challenge Cassidy lost. Their cause in the 3rd may have been further helped by the fact they were playing against a AHL goalie in over his head. Overall NSH met their match. They were the better team in the 3rd but even with that it took some good fortune to pull it out. Even without Stone and without Hertl while Stone is out, Vegas is a good team, good enough to beat the Preds in a series imo, despite what DeezNutz wants us to believe.

  25. NAM, thank you for the clarification on who would play who and where, I will then add the canucks to my list along with the stars on who i would hope vgk would play in the first round.

  26. I know its not a big part of Cassidy;s game plan to have defenseman join the rush, and basically we dont have the type of D man that can actually do so…I realize
Shea may do that on rare occasion…but…we now have a guy who skates really well, stickhandles really well and has terrific offensive instincts, and it would be a welcome addition to our offense, particularily on the PP f we activated Hanifin into that role, a role that would make our offense way more dangerous.

    • Pistol Pete

Larry, in fact it already is part of Cassidy’s plan to have D men join the rush and every single one of them do including even McNabb from time to time. It is possible Theo is not quite himself right now for some reason and Hanifin is a perfect for this team. Don’t listen to DeezNutz. Hanifin wants to stay in Vegas and be part of a winning culture. Most players do.

  27. ThG

time to crank it up a notch !!

  28. PP.. I should have been clearer on Hanifin.. I meant initiating the rush…joining on a 3 on 2…his skating makes him the only D that can do so!!
