DETROIT RED WINGS 3 VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 0 (39-20-8, 86 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights traveled to Detroit for an early Sunday matinee with the Red Wings. The shots were low in the opening period with each team locked in a scoreless tie after the opening 20 minutes.

Eight minutes into the middle frame the Red Wings took the opening lead. Vegas fired eight shots on but couldn’t find the back of the net. Detroit took a 1-0 edge into the 2nd intermission.

The home team doubled their lead early on in the final frame. A few shifts later Detroit took a 3-0 lead which held up after 60 minutes.

The Golden Knights record drops to 39-20-8 falling to the Red Wings 3-0 in Motown. Vegas wrapped up their road trip and will begin a three-game homestand on Thursday night. Puck drop against the Boston Bruins is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: This was about as listless as the Golden Knights have looked offensively all season and it eventually crept into their defensive game as well. They weren’t making the right decisions through the neutral zone much of the night and when they did get the rare good chances they were often off-net. It was one of the first times in a while where it really felt like they were waiting around for a power play, and it never came. (Recap by Ken)

A very low point right now. This three days off need to be used for soul searching and practice. Get Wild Bill back, adjust the lines and get to work. Must win most of our remaining games to take the division. Tuff task I think. Just disappointed right now.

  2. Bad bad bad in mostly every way, the ways they weren’t were in the PK and Samsanov played well enough if there had been any consistent offense throughout. The few opportunities they had mrzak was better than the shooters, and that was pretty much that.

The Pietrangelo turnover and subsequent penalty taken and the Stone turnover leading to the second goal just left me shaking my head in disgust, but the 1 bright spot after that was turning the tv off and not have to watch more of the same for the next 15 minutes of game time!

Shutout by a below average team on the road.

They have only played 11 games since 8 Feb.

    Pacific 1st 39-20-8, 86pts, +38gf/ga
Western 3rd behind Jets & Stars
League 5th behind Jets, Caps, Stars and Canes

Canes have won 7 straight, Kings 5 straight

The Kings are not playing today and have 2 games in hand.

There are 15 games left in the season 7-8 gets us to 100pts.

The team doesn’t appear to have much confidence right now.

    Cassidy.
    – We were a tired hockey team.
    – We let one get away in Buffalo.

tell number 7 to retire and sign Noah Dobson for next year

  7. Pistol Pete

I’m worried about Karlsson. He’s skating a couple practices at home before the trip, goes on it, takes maybe three more practices and is still not ready.
Whatever the problem has been it seems to still be there: Worried it’s a bad sign.

so, now they are the TDK ….Tired Golden Knights.

Hertl’s braindead blunder in Buffalo has lasting effects on the team shoulder slump.

7 and 61 both look like they are in the washed up category lately.

I predict that the TGK will not finish first in the pacific division…I hope I am wrong in that, but recent play by their top veterans is very concerning.

  9. DeezNutz

Thankfully I couldn’t watch but I was checking the score. I’m going to guess Shitrangelo looked lost out there and was making stupid decisions all game, Mark Stone was probably 2 steps behind everyone, Eichel probably missed on a clear breakaway and open net at some point and I’m guessing after every save Samsonov was looking behind himself not knowing where the puck was the entire game.

This team is not very good at all. We can kiss the division goodbye and prepare to face the cOilers or Queens in the 1st round instead of a banged up Minnescrotum Mild. Just an overall disappointing season all around if you are looking at it from the oeespective of actually winning another Stanley Cup. Great season if you are expecting a first round exit.

Like I said, this team will be handcuffed until both Stone and Shitrangelo’s contracts expire in 2 years. This was always going to happen with big free agent signings when offering them full no move clause. I’ll always be grateful for captain Stone but that 9 million dollar boat anchor on defense was a mistake I think we still win our cup without him.

  10. Jim

19 shots in Buffalo, and 17 shots in Detroit.

    that about sums it up.

opposing goalies just get out their rocking chair when Vegas comes to town.

    • JB

Yea, the lack of shot is concerning. Plus, Butch has been changing around the lines too much I think? Need to settle on the lines and let them play numerous games together!

  11. Tim

To tired to play maybe I’m to tired watching the product your putting on the ice. January thru March 16 it has not been fun. Nothing more to say action speaks louder then words.

    • The hockey God

TIM YOU ARE ALIVE !!!!!!! heee hee hheeee , haaa haa haaa, ho ho ho !!!

      • Tim

Yes I’m alive and well thank god it’s baseball season I need a diversion from these tired wore out pussies. I don’t mind losing but please a goal once in a while would be nice.

  12. arnold rothstein

    “arnold rothstein
No killer instinct in this team’s last game, but I give them a pass because Hertl was trying to get puck to Eichel. But he wasn’t open. Tomorrow is a new day, new day fresh start. Team is probably going to be exhausted with back to back, after a week long trip on road. And looking forward to getting back home. Facing another hungry team hanging a thread.

  13. Henderson One

Looks like they mind putting forth the effort but I bet they don’t mind picking up their paycheck.

  14. Butch Cassidy

Honestly, this slump really doesn’t matter.

The Pacific Division is so trash, they could lose most of their remaining games and the 2 braincell teams in that division wouldn’t be able to compete for first place.

The best thing would be benching 7 and 61 and giving them a break to recover their old bodies. Let’s see if they have one more deep playoff run before they are put out to pasture.

I saw Wild Bill after leaving my hockey practice at CNA and he look ok. Im guessing he is just resting until playoffs.

  15. NAM

Losing a game here or there is just part of a 82 game season, but holy hell watching the team get smothered for 3 hours and not even score once is painful especially after the let down in Buffalo. I hope the short break does some good.

  16. NAM agreed, it was almost like after the early chances were denied by their goalie it was like let’s somehow just make it to overtime and get a point.

I know their video replay associate is excellent at advising Cassidy on challenges, so I understood the double edged sword of a challenge there on an offsides, but man that looked close enough to challenge??
