Praise Be To Foley, Vegas Golden Knights Hockey Website

Recap: The Stanley Cup champions were looking to close out their five-game road trip on a high note with a victory in Dallas. Michael Amadio opened the scoring 10:26 into the game, scoring his third of the season on the power play. Vegas held on to a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of action.

Dallas outshot Vegas 17-6 in the middle frame, and it paid off with less than one minute remaining. The Stars evened the score 1-1 at the 19:17 mark of the second period.

Both teams battled it out in the final 20 minutes. Vegas had a few solid chances to snap the tie but couldn’t find the go-ahead goal in regulation. Jack Eichel ended the game in overtime with an incredible individual effort in front of the net.

The Golden Knights record improves to 14-4-2 defeating the Stars 2-1 in Dallas. Vegas finishes their road trip with 5 points and remain in 1st place in the Pacific Division. The reigning champions will host Arizona on Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: A typical DeBoer-coached team came out and made life very difficult on the Golden Knights. They couldn’t find a way to generate many shots through the middle of the game and were spending a lot of time in the defensive zone. However, in the 3rd, they started putting the puck in deep a bit more and won a lot more stick battles to generate more chances and penalties. In the end, like in most VGK/DAL games, it took OT and a fortunate play went VGK’s way. (Analysis by Ken)

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Pistol Pete

    Hill 31/32 just outstanding.

The $10m guy wins the game in OT.

Wish Cotter would score or set up Karlsson. That extends his pointless streak to 10 games. How much further is Cassidy’s litmus test going to go?

  2. Sorvino

Paul Cotter has not been bad, but he can be better. He has taken some bad penalties recently as well. In training camp, Bruce Cassidy said the last roster spot was Cotters‘s job to lose. I’m glad that Cassidy has kept his word especially since he has a reputation of trust issues with younger inexperienced players. In saying that I don’t want to see Dorofeyev on the sidelines for too long either.

    • Pistol Pete

Have you had a chance to watch Grigori Denisenko? Giving Brisson a run for his money over there.

      • Sorvino

I have not watched the Henderson Silver Knights.. Very happy that the best front office in the history of professional sports and humanity brought Grigori Denisenko.

    • sb

Cotter, a young guy. He does have talent. Have some patience and let this guy grow his game. Stay patient with these young guys and let them develop. VGK’s future looks very promising. VGK’s are in first place. These young players certainly are not hurting the team. Have some patience and let these guys develop.

  3. Pistol Pete

    First 20 games:

    2022-23: 15-4-1 (31 pts)
    2023-24: 14-4-2 (30 pts)

More injuries this year, right? And no Reilly Smith.

  4. Richie-Rich

Game #20 on the Season vs Dallas.

I think that this is the first game where I am in total agreement on the Stars of the Game with Ken.

    – Scored 1st!
    – Hill deserves the #1 Star and the Win

-PP is right, we need more production out of Cotter. His “signature” between the legs puck drag is getting old. The one time it did work today he should have centered the pass in front of the net. Instead he took the puck behind the net where Dallas eventually stripped it and flipped the ice.
-Forced passes instead of pressure relief
-Several breakaways or 1 on 1 (Marchy) opportunities missed that should have been buried.
-13 of the first 14 shots by the VGK were high chance. You need to bury 2 or 3 of those.
-missed elbow to Hague’s head ended up in a retaliation penalty against #14 instead of a VGK PP.
-Team needs to look at puck position when executing a long change in the 2nd period. That one almost cost em dearly. Whitecloud saved their asses.

The guy with the french fries was hil-fucking-arious!

  5. Jw

Cotter is not playing loose and to win. Trust isn’t there and hasn’t been earned. To be honest and totally frank can we please talk about the complete lack of team speed/hustle? Stone is a captain and my eyes tell me he is slow as hell and getting out worked. A liability. Puck security and support is terrible. Blind outlet passes, too many passes on the pp, and complete lack of fight and physicality better get cleaned up and quick.

  6. Jailbird

Another OT game with Dallas. Two evenly matched teams. We get the win, all that counts. Hilly fantastic! Happy Turkey day to all.

    • Pistol Pete

      Hill 9-2-1/1.97/.932

      • Alex

Same to you, TS! Happy Thanksgiving!

        • TS

Thanks Alex! And to YOU! As much as I have sometimes flinched at some of your more ” colorful” posts, the Spirit of WHY you did it is understandable. There are times that tough responses are necessary. And it WAS. I also appreciate your support when needed– who would thunk it, esp after our Rocky start here…

  7. TS

WHEW!! Lucky win for us, given how few SOG we had. Stars controlled the puck well. Stars’ Goalie was a GIANT in net, literally, at 6’6″. Marchy was clearly frustrated, as he had multiple attempts to score. HILL was the MAN for us! He was repeatedly challenged the entire game, made HUGE saves to keep it close , given the number of SOG against him. HE’S EARNED HIS TOP GOALIE SPOT! Eichel’s OT winner was a real sneaker…really surprised their Goalie. Great way to end a tough, low- scoring game, and polish off a LONG, tiring road trip!

    • Satan

TS, couldn’t have said it any better myself. Dallas dominated long stretches of play, but Adin Hill kept them in it. The ybent but didn’t break. Great win. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

      • TS

Satan, the same to you! Hey, even YOU give thanks for the time to celebrate with family and friends!

  8. Tim

The best team doesn’t always win. Last night Dallas was better then us and we won we’ve been better then teams this year and lost it all evens out over 82 games.Good goaltending at both ends seems like every game we play there goalie stands on his head. In the Washington and Pittsburg games we had more talent but there goalies were unconscious so they go in the loss column. Arizona at home and then back on the road for three more games. I know our team is set and I know we have no cap space but like I’ve said were not scoring a minimum of 3 goals in most games but I’ll beat the drum for a true sniper to loosen up there defense. I know they don’t grow on trees so it probably won’t happen but a guy can dream can’t he. Everyone have a great Turkey Day and I wonder what the Stanley Cup bound Edmonton Oilers are thinking about this morning. No offense but all summer all we heard was Oilers, Oilers, and now at Thanksgiving all Canada is in morning because besides Toronto although Vancouver is playing well have no chance at a Canadian team in the Cup finals. It does me well those pompous Canadian sports writers with there bullshit predictions.

    • Pistol Pete

Happy Thanksgiving Tim though I can’t agree the Stars were the best team across the 60 min. Middle 20 yes but not the rest of it. Just a well played game by two teams that don’t give up much. In end Dallas got outlasted!

  9. Pistol Pete

Watched the whole game. Dallas did more or less dominate the middle period but overall an excellent effort by two of the best teams in the conference. The VGK was excellent imo albeit saved somewhat by Hill in the second. Good way to end a tough road trip. Play to the structure slowly building towards the playoffs. Don’t peak early.

    • Pistol Pete

So the lone Dallas goal was the result of an unfortuitous line change by the Knights
      (Eichel and Marchessault going off).

  10. Pistol Pete

Coyotes here then a three game roadie: Calgary/Edmonton B2B then presumably a big test vs. the Canucks.

  11. Jailbird

Will be a tuff Canada stretch!

  12. Pistol Pete

Jonathan Quick off to his best start in years. 5-2-0/1.68/.940. 32 save SO vs. PIT last night. Surprising. Shrewd move picking VGK acquiring him at the trade deadline. Though his GAA and SV% were not great he managed to go 5-2 and was a good presence in the locker room in the playoffs. Got his name on the Cup again!

  13. knights fan in minny

good game over all back-and-forth good goaltending on both hilly was very good. carrier with a good game working his butt off the whole game love watching him play. that’s why jack makes the big bucks. great game winner the tnt crew is top notch. happy t day vegas hockey fans

    • TS

Kfim, same to You! I appreciate your ” saucy” presence here, and your support at crazy times! And, thanks for all the laughs!

According to TNT below screen graphics VGK player no. 16 DORO played the entire game. He was on every PP and PK. Breaking Bobby’s Orr record of playing nearly 50 minutes when he first entered the league at a time when the league did not keep total ice time stats- TNT

  18. Jailbird

Boston off to a great start, again. Can’t wait until we play them, see how we match up. Canucks lost last night. We need to get a little separation from them. Oh oh, starting to smell the turkey my wife put in oven a while ago.
