Recap: The Golden Knights traveled to Calgary to face off against the Flames for a late season divisional battle. The game took some time to settle in, but the Golden Knights took advantage of some loose defense by the Flames later in the period. Jonathan Marchessault did what he does best and gave Vegas the first lead of the game with his 23rd goal of the season. Michael Amadio took advantage of a rush and a rebound to double VGK’s lead to 2-0. After an official review, the Flames had their first goal taken back but they were able to get it back in the final minute of the period. The Golden Knights carried a 2-1 advantage into the first intermission.
The game tightened up in the second period as both teams had limited opportunities. Vegas was outshot 12-8 in the period but were able to stave off the Flames offense. After 40 minutes the Golden Knights held a 2-1 edge.
In his first game back since February 21st, Nic Roy scored to give the Golden Knights some extra padding in the final frame. Roy’s goal gave Vegas a 3-1 third period advantage. The Flames had another goal called back but minutes later they scored to get within one. The Golden Knights killed off a lengthy 6-on-5 to secure a one goal victory.
The Golden Knights’ record improves to 44-21-7 defeating the Flames 3-2 in Calgary. Vegas will take a short trip to Edmonton for a matchup with the Oilers on Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)
Analysis: This is one of the better complete games the Golden Knights have played. They exposed the Flames defense with stretch passes and it fed VGK’s dangerous transition. Then, when they got ahead, they had great defensive gaps and made life very difficult on Calgary. The only real issue with the game is the two injuries to Thompson and Smith. (Analysis by Ken)

That is one terrific win for the Golden Knights against a team they've had their struggles with.
Let's just hope it's one we remember for the game and not the injuries that came from it.

Hell of a shift from the 4th line there. All three are having good games.
Really, every VGK player has been good tonight.

Absolutely filthy hands by Nic Roy in tight.
All three on that line make a great play to lead to the goal. Stephenson on the steal, Kessel the pass, Roy lights the lamp.
3-1

I am extraordinarily proud of this team tonight. They showed testicular fortitude especially considering the circumstances with the injuries to Reilly Smith and especially Logan Thompson. They continue to exceed my expectations but perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised anymore. I think I have underrated this team. Let’s hope that Smith and Thompson aren’t too badly hurt.
Bobby
Well stated! Hell of a game, other than the injuries. And Quick saves the day.
Theresa Soles
Yes, sir!! Now, I’m gonna Google ” testicular fortitude”….I am….intrigued! Lol

Ok. Did spell check take “intestinal” to a new level?? Same general area, though i’m no doctor…just messing with you! Enjoy the gane!

6-4-0 = 108 pts
Great return from injury by both LT (37/39) and Roy (1 G -game winner/2 shots/1 hit/2 blocks) and a good save by Quick (5/5). Michael Amadio you are the man!
Let’s hope the Smith and LT injuries are short-term. If Smith is out Saturday I predict:
Stephenson-Karlsson-Dorofeyev
Cotter-Roy-Kessel
Pistol Pete
Honorable mention: Karlsson and Dorofeyev 3 shots each. That line was not scored on either something Pav is focusing on big time. As I see it, if he can remain NOT a defensive liability Cassidy will leave him on that line down the stretch and into the playoffs. This team will need all the scoring it can get.

Any NCAA goalie needle in a haystack worth signing? Gotta figure Patera is on a plane soon. Someone besides 50 year old Red Light has to back up Saville for HSK.
SMH
I believe that Brossoit is with the team on this road trip, so hopefully he is healthy enough to be the #2 goalie in Edmonton. Perhaps he even gets the start there, since Quick unexpectedly had to play a bit in Calgary. If Thompson’s new injury is significant, all of the sudden it becomes important to see if Brossoit can contribute down the stretch.
TS
Smh, word on the street is Brossoilt is ready to play…

Great victory against a desperate team. I had rated this game as a toss up.
I loved that embellishment by Quick!
Roy has some jump in those legs after being out for a while. Marchy, Dorofeyev, Smith, Eichel, Roy – all skating circles around the Flames.
Jailbird
LT played great. Team played a very good playoff type game. Hope the injuries aren’t serious. Thank you for Quick!
Jose
Let’s start the playoffs now!!!
TS
That was the most bizarre 3rd period I’ve seen! Have stranger things happened?? Doubtful!
Great game, fun to watch. Great puck control, crisp passing, confident play. Our D around our net was intense.
One note: our coach challenges have been spot on-have they lost ANY challenges this season? They are a game- changers, to be sure. Great game by all!

SMART move by coach leaving Amadio in game, tough to scratch Cotter but it looks like coach is basing it on seniority, not so much as anything else. Tough to sit a player when everything is going so well.

JV
Looked like Quick wanted to stay down on the ice longer to get a call, but realized if he didn’t get up, the concussion spotter would pull him, leaving Vegas with the EBUG in net.
