BUFFALO SABRES 7 VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 2 (33-21-7, 73 PTS)

Recap: The Golden Knights were looking to shake off their prior loss with a road victory in Buffalo. The Sabres opened the scoring 1:55 into the game catching the Golden Knights off guard. Vegas took nine shots but couldn’t even the score before the first intermission.

The scoring picked up in the middle frame as Buffalo took a two-goal lead a minute in, but the Golden Knights came storming back. First Brendan Brisson cut the lead in half on the power play and William Karlsson tied the game minutes later. The home team added one before the break to hold a 3-2 edge.

For the third straight period, the Sabres scored a goal within the first 140 seconds of the frame. A few shifts later Buffalo added to their lead and eventually took a commanding 7-2 advantage.

The Golden Knights record drops to 33-21-7 losing to the Sabres 7-2 in Buffalo. Vegas will look to snap their two-game losing streak on Monday in Columbus. Puck drop against the Blue Jackets is set for 4 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: Another example of a game that Vegas gave away because of poor puck management. They did well to fight back in the middle frame but they couldn’t stop turning the puck over and it allowed a dangerous offensive team to get going.  Unfortunately, Toronto is looking like the outlier right now, not the new trend.(Analysis by Ken)

Ok. One comment: glad I couldn’t get the game.

      • Earl the Replanted Transplant

It was painful to watch. Once again it felt like the VGK were in PK mode while 5-5. Losing attitude in the locker room.

    Next game is next!

      • Pistol Pete

Really you don’t think they can finish 13-6-2? I do. Eichel is coming back. Carrier to reconstitute the all important Roy line. How about the trade deadline where it’s possible they pull off by far the biggest one since Stone. Guentzel plus? No? Buddy you will be singing a different tune a couple weeks from now! Trust me for a change!

    • PP – l hope your right and admire your your optimism. Unfortunately being the realist l am l have serious reservations, but will be more than happy to feel otherwise. I have been around this game longer than l would like to admit and had a brother -in-law who was a professional hockey player back in the days when they had summer jobs to support their families.

  4. Walt

    How far they have sunk.

    Buffalo fodder.

Time for some trades to weed out the chaff.

    • Pistol Pete

Time to get Eichel and Carrier back, Howden too. He’s better than the guys from Henderson (except Brisson).

  5. DeezNutz

Thankfully this is all happening before trade deadline and not after. This season has been a nightmare.

Stone’s constant injuries is hurting this team he needs to hang them up and retire on LTIR and worry about his health.

We need to dump Carrier also he is worthless to this team with the amount of injuries he sustains every season.

    • knights fan in minny

pipe down numb nutz you know nothing

    • Pistol Pete

Yeah Cotter can become Carrier eventually. Meanwhile he’s almost mended and due for another run on the Roy line.

  7. Rashaad

We know they are capable because of the game in Toronto and what they did in Boston in the 2nd and 3rd period. The main issue is consistency right now. That’s about as positive as I can be. The effort tonight against a team that has nothing to play for was pitiful. It’s not acceptable. In a week there will be atleast three additions to the roster including Eichel.

The main issue is it’s hard to win without your 1C and a fourth line from Henderson. Brisson though is looking like a keeper if we don’t lose him next week or tomorrow.

      • Rashaad

Pistol Pete, guys that are there aren’t playing very well. Martinez has been terrible, goaltending is starting to dip. Now we are starting to use injuries as too much of an excuse. Calgary keeps trading players off their roster and they are playing better than Vegas.

    Game 61 Analysis, BUF 7, VGK 2

The VGK has given up 25 goals since 22 February and have managed to win but 1 game (1-4-1) over that span. The team has faced two of the teams that I have designated as MUST WIN and have 1 point out 4 possible. The Oilers have leap frogged over us into the 2nd playoff spot. How dire is the spot the team finds itself in?

Nashville is in the #1 Wild Card Spot, just 1 point behind the VGK, and they have won 8 straight games.

LA is in the #2 Wild Card spot, just 3 points behind the VGK

9 of the remaining 21 games are against teams not currently in the playoff picture. There are 42 points remaining on the playing board. If the VGK can get just half of those they will end the season with 94 points, which is no guarantee of making it in as a wild card.

Next up on the schedule are the Blue Jackets, one of the worst NFL teams in the league this season with just 48 points and a GF/GA of -45! If ever there was a MUST WIN to bank a much needed 2 points this is the game.

    STARS?
Don’t talk to me about any Stars. Cloudy skies, no moon and no stars this evening.

By the way, this was likely one of the worst, if not the worst game played by Alec Martinez and Paul Cotter.

martini looked like h had the yips he could not hang on to the puck if his life depended on it

  10. Rashaad

Martinez has been awful. I’ve always said that this organization has a knack for getting rid of players at the right time. I still think Martinez will return to form in the playoffs, but he is definitely at the end of the line as a Golden Knight. Kaeden Korczak is waiting.

  11. JB

Well guys ….. Embarrised and Edmonton jumped us into second. Let’s hope this is the low point. It better be! Young teams seem to just skate circles around us?

  12. Rashaad

JB, Pistol Pete, Richie Rich, and others. Without overreacting to just tonight‘s game, but looking at what they’ve done as a whole since about mid November, are we sure that the best thing to do at the deadline is give up more future?

I still say yes, and want to see them use Mark Stones cap hit, however management may need to think about this. I shutter at the thought of ever becoming what San Jose is now.

Seems crazy to say this because this group is pretty much the same as last year‘s group, but is this group the one that you want to make a run with. Some hard decisions coming. One decision that could be made after the deadline is to permanently replace Martinez with Kaeden Korczak.

I don’t want my comments to sound like an over reaction to this pitiful game tonight, but rather as a reaction to what this team has been since mid November.

    Thoughts?

    • knights fan in minny

martini is a pros pro i think he will be fine this franchise only worries about the present year go for it get frankie v and buevenivich i think i butchered that name

    • Pistol Pete

Think they’ll get Guentzel or Buchnevich and it will be worth every penny imo (two picks plus Dorofeyev). Another second rounder gets you Frank Vatrano (or an equivalent) as well is what I am hoping for. McPhee and McCrimmon are due to pull off their biggest TD since Stone.

If Stone can make it back that is the Cup roster plus. Worth every penny!

      • knights fan in minny

frankie and buchnevich there at 50 points apiece or darn close

    • JB

I’m quite biased in that I am an old man, so future doesn’t mean as much to me as NOW! I want them to do all they can to improve this team for the rest of the season and playoffs. Use draft picks , whatever it takes!

      • Emmanuel

I wouldnt even be surprised if next season was cancelled around, say, early November……Like that old Chinese proverb, “may you live in interesting times”.

    • Richie-Rich

Yes, it would be nice to add some talent depending on the cost. It will be difficult to get a value piece without giving up any of our starters or future key pieces. Decisions have to be made on all of the UFAs in the next week.

  13. Pistol Pete

Did Cassidy substitute Denisenko for Rempal after Rempal blew the chance to get into OT with that ridiculous penalty? No matter we need Eichel back so we can put Roy back at 4C. Carrier should be getting close. Harder to win with a 4th line out of Henderson. It works some of the time but not enough of it.

Best 4th line in the league:
    Carrier-Roy-Kolesar

    Cup-deep down the middle: Eichel/Karlsson/Stephenson/Roy

Meanwhile something tells me this will be VGK’s most impactful trade deadline since Stone. Let’s sit tight brothers and sisters!

  14. VGKs was beat by a bunch of kids who had nothing to prove except to themselves and Buffalo management. They overwhelmed Vegas big time – pressure, pressure, and Vegas had ZERO answer. They couldn’t even get the puck out of their own zone time and time again. And they had little to no pressure on Buffalo in their zone. It was an embarrassment first class and a pathetic performance besides. We can only hope they get their act together before its’ to late – which is rapidly approaching. On to Columbus

  15. David T

Back to back losses. At the level that they’re playing, there will be no “back to back” Stanley Cups. This team has no direction, no will to win. They are making mental mistakes on the ice. They lack intensity and continuity. This is becoming painful to watch.

    • Pistol Pete

They could have won the Boston game and probably would have if not for that three minute breakdown in the first. Excellent second and third against one of best teams in the league who paradoxically have also been struggling.

  16. Pistol Pete

Cassidy is still missing his top line center and fourth line. Does not even have regular roster scratched forwards to play. All three backups are straight out of Henderson. Obviously things improve for him when he gets back Eichel, Carrier and Howden plus the one or two new forwards he’ll get from the TD next week. Things are looking up!

    • Richie-Rich

I wouldn’t say that they have hit bottom yet. There’s still room below them. Problem is, they are running out of games. I still believe that they can get in, but they definitely need help and soon.

    • Pistol Pete

I forgot that Dorofeyev has been out too. That makes (in descending order of impact) Eichel, Stone, Dorofeyev, Carrier and Howden, five forwards out injured. Does not work having Roy and Kolesar play up and as for Cotter I always felt he should be the scratch and not Dorofeyev. When Carrier went out they both played. Anyways too many injuries to play much above .500 imo. It’s true after the 11-0-1 start Theo was the main injury but remember Karlsson got injured during the Winter Classic and he missed a bunch of games.

They should be able to get a run going with Eichel back and with the TD additions . 13-6-2 to finish with 101 pts is doable, in fact could probably shave 4-5 pts off that and still get a wild card berth. Saving the best for last!!!

  17. PP – l hope your right and admire your your optimism. Unfortunately being the realist l am l have serious reservations, but will be more than happy to feel otherwise. I have been around this game longer than l would like to admit and had a brother -in-law who was a professional hockey player back in the days when they had summer jobs to support their families.

    • Pistol Pete

Hdbiker really don’t get how the absence of Eichel and Stone and the prospect for a major trade deadline move or moves does not temper your pessimism. Eichel’s return is forthcoming. He’s expected to be back for Columbus and the TD moves will come by the end of next week. This team basically pioneered the concept of using prospect and draft capital to acquire elite veteran elite talent vs. slowly building from the ground up. It’s going to happen again, the most impactful TD since Stone and we should be excited and optimistic about the potential outcome. Can you say for example Guentzel-Eichel-Marchessault? If you want to play the pessimist as you did when I was optimistic about the Eichel trade, go right ahead but be ready for me to gloat again when they finish north of 100 pts! If they miss the playoffs I promise I’ll acknowledge the wisdom of your pessimism!

      • Richie-Rich

Wow, 100 points! That would put them in at least the 3rd playoff spot. But the sobering reality is that there are 21 games, 42 points available left on the table. To get to 100 points means they need 27 of those remaining 42, or 13 or 14 wins.

That is a .667 winning percentage. Doable, but only 6 NHL clubs are winning at that percentage. Our VGK is currently under .600 for the season, but much lower than that since the end of October.

With only 9 games remaining against non-playoff teams, that means we need to win all of them, plus another 5 against playoff contenders.

        Now that’s optimism!

      • Richie-Rich

        Let me say this.

Lose to Columbus and it’s going to get very ugly in this group and on social media.

      • Richie-Rich

The projection certainly does not look good. There are 21 games left, and 42 points on the board. To get to 100 points they will need to win 67% (.667) and 13 or 14 of the 21 games remaining. Only (9) of those are against non-playoff teams. Lose to the Blue Jackets tomorrow and I would say they should be selling and not buying at the deadline this coming week. It might be time to begin the rebuild and cut bait on the geriatric players. Lose to Columbus and I’d be putting every UFA on sale, including Marchessault for top prospects and picks.

Instead of a repeat they should be looking at a Cup in 3.

  18. Hockeydiva

OK THOMPSON is completely unreliable in goal…time to send him packing to THE HSK
PATERA deserves a chance with the big club

  19. Henderson One

Good news is maybe we won’t have to pay for those inflated playoff ticket prices.

  20. Perro

If we don’t win vs Columbus, after that is Vancouver and we are out of a playoff spot at that point.

This isn’t just about the rooks from Henderson, Its every bit the fault of the veterans not doing there jobs.

I feel sorry for Coach, he gotta be concerned for the longevity of his job the way this team is playing. I don’t think he goes this year but if we have another sub standard showing next year……

I’ve spent ALOT of money on tickets and they are leaving me wishing I could get a refund. I hate knowing what I spent on those tickets and watching the team not even care enough to even try, or be asleep at the wheel until they fall into such a deep hole that is impossible to climb out of, and then start trying only to lose anyway.

We get to play the canucks 3 more times and if they don’t seal the deal then the wings, or the Aves will. He’ll with as bad as we are playing maybe Chicago will run us through.

    • Pistol Pete

As Dad used to say when I complained about something: “too bad, so sad, your dad”.

    • TS

Perro, I, too, am concerned for Cassidy. He can’t PLAY for the guys, it’s up to players to perform well…or NOT. Cassidy has pulled every trick out of his hat to motivate and compel better play, but the players have to want it more than our opponents obviously do.

  21. Richie-Rich

Foley wanted a Cup in 6. He got it. The team brought in Eichel, Stone, Pietrangelo, Martinez and retooled this team to get it. At some point we have to expect a rebuild. It is eventually going to come, but I personally am not ready to give up just yet.

Get Eichel, Carrier and Howden back and see if they can add some punch for another run. It’s still within reach although the grip on a playoff spot is apparently going to slip away at least in the short term.

Lose to the Blue Jackets and that will mark the bottom for me. From there, the only worse thing that could happen is to miss the playoffs altogether.

  22. Tim

Hopefully they don’t trade Brisson, Dorofeyev, or Korczak in my opinion are the only young players with upside. We’ll just have to see what happens by the trade deadline.
What they have on the ice now isn’t working Eichel and Carrier will help but we need some scoring and I hope they don’t sell the farm to get some.

    • Pistol Pete

They sold the farm to get Eichel and that worked. They can do it again with Guentzel or Buchnevich. It’s worth doing Tim. Acquire elite veteran talent as necessary to keep the roster vital. The key is playing to a defensive structure and the offense will come. With all the injuries that has been harder to do recently. Don’t know why they were able to do it without Eichel and Stone vs. Toronto, for two periods of the Bruins game but vs. Buffalo it did not happen. These NHL teams are good. Don’t play your best and it’s easy to lose to a young fast hard hitting team like the Sabres.

      • Tim

Pistol Pete, Here’s a thought it’s a sellers market and they want to hold you hostage since there isn’t that much talent on the teams that have been eliminated. Were holding one card all the other teams in competition with us don’t hold and what the teams out of the playoffs this year would love to have. We have The Ottawa #1 pick be it this year in the next 2 years no Stanley Cup contender can offer a team like Pittsburgh probably a lottery pick plus there own lottery pick would make a rebuild a lot faster. So what I’m saying Pete and all other posters is we don’t have to give as much as you think plus we have our first draft pick so let’s keep the young kids we like. Next year the expanded cap plus expiring contracts we can infuse more young talent through free agency.

  23. Pistol Pete

Frank Seravelli says Vegas and PIT would agree to Guentzel + for example Eller for Dorofeyev + 1st + 2nd (1st if VGK wins the Cup). We’ll see if this is an actual inside track Seravelli has or if he’s just speculating.

    Then they could do this:

    https://vegashockeyknight.com/posts/vegas-golden-knights-trade-candidate-report-frank-vatrano-01hqx95gyyje/4

Vatrano is signed for $3.65m through 2024-25, 5’ 11” 197 hard hitting, turns 30 March 14 and is having a career season with 29 goals so far. Major upgrade over Amadio for example whose contract is expiring.

    • The hockey God

your post doesn’t make any sense at all

      • Pistol Pete

What don’t you understand about it?

        • THE hockey God

nothing to do with “understanding” I said it just doesn’t make sense

          • Pistol Pete

Why does not make sense about it? The two trades are clearly laid out. The Seravelli one may be a mock trade or he has inside info. I tried to imply that. It’s possible they can do more than one trade. In this case one for a top line player the other for an above average scoring depth player. Exactly what they need to extend the vitality of the roster. Just a question of how many draft picks they are willing to deal.

  24. Pistol Pete

    Avs lose to Preds 5-1
    Bruins lose to NYI 5-1

Tough league. VGK is not alone in struggling right now.

  25. Pistol Pete

With Eichel back it could look like this. At least one hole in each of the bottom nine but at least all the centers.

    Barbashev-Eichel-Marchessault
    Brisson-Karlsson-Amadio
    Cotter-Stephenson-Rempal
    Morelli-Roy-Kolesar

    • Pistol Pete

Brisson is doing pretty damn well if you ask me. 12 games in half a point a game (2 G/4 A) -4 though. Sure he’s playing up and you expect more offensive production but to my eye he’s already better than Cotter. I predict he does not return to Henderson would be a scratch at worst on a fully healthy roster or gets traded next week.

      • Pistol Pete

Dorofeyev definitely the more attractive trade prospect though. More games more accomplished. Looking forward to keeping Brendan on the roster.

  26. JB

Let’s just hope the McGMs shake things up at the TD. I want to see some fireworks! :)

  27. EZE

Shea a VGK game star? Both short handed goals in the patented puck jumped over my stick move. Thompson needs to read a Tony Robbins book. Everyone thought he would be the goalie of the future and then Hill plus injuries sunk that dream. It feels like early VGK when Subban stopped zero breakaway chances.
The lack of intensity is noticeable. How many sub 500 teams have we lost to? Sure would be nice to have those “easy” points. No bum slaying here.
Can someone also teach the team that there are corners on a net that you can shoot at. Again down memory lane with breadbasket shots or wide of the net. Waiting for Jesus Eichel to return is not a strategy.

  29. LVsc

a rebuild is NOT a pretty picture. Just look at the teams that have gone down and STAYED down……..Buffalo 13 friggin years and counting..and then you have Anaheim, San Jose, Columbus, Ottawa, Chicago. etc etc

These teams all got plenty of high draft picks, and still they can’t win. Look at the Vgk drafting record. Lot of disappointing shit except for Suzuki.

Hell, the Blackhawks got the generational talent in the draft, and they still are the worst team in the league. AND, they beat the Vgk.. That sums it up perfectly. A rebuild is slow and painful, and the Knights have made their own bed this season by losing to shit teams.

Nope, the Vgk have done it the right way so far….BUT, they have been waylaid in 2 seasons by injuries. They were able to win the cup after a injury plagued season 2 years ago, and next season might be another chance if they trade for some help. BUT, if they go all kiddie rebuild, then prepare for many seasons ahead like this one, only worse, and even with or without injuries.

    • Pistol Pete

Good point about the folly of rebuilding though done right it does work TBL and COL being the best recent cases. But for the VGK no reason to rebuild. Sure everybody is a year older. The most pressing are Marchy, Petro and Nabber. They all have at least through 2025-26. At some point they’ll need to acquire an elite D to replace Petro and another workhorse like Nabber. The Mc’s strategy is instead of relying on top draft picks to become elite players is to trade picks for veteran talent and along the way a few prospects develop into roster players. The most pressing need now is for an elite winger scorer. They will stay deep down the middle until first Karlsson is too old. An under thirty sniping winger like Guentzel and a scoring depth forward like Vatrano. We’ll see what happens with Thompson. They may need to replace him. A huge trade deadline coming up. Bigger than Stone I predict because it will be more than one player, one elite the other above average depth.

  30. Earl the Replanted Transplant

No excuse for the lazy play, I don’t care if the top forwards are out, no excuse for the type of play from other veterans. By Wednesday the LAK will either take 3rd or be tied and by Saturday they will probably have bumped the VGK down to a wildcard spot. LT looks like he is shell-shocked and all the veterans are looking like AHL players. Soon there will be a bunch of fans crying because more players are gone and new faces in. Quit making excuses for the teams lackluster minor league play.

    • Walt

exactly right.. There is no excuse for the shitty play of the 6 veteran dmen of the Vgk..Their puckhandling, passing, and puck mgmt are beyond subpar, and the coach said exactly that in his postgame presser.

Ken is smokin something if he thinks that Theodore deserved a star for that pathetic PP performance….. 2 sh goals against, while the second unit scored a PP goal.

  31. The hockey God

rumpul bumped down to ahl after bone penalty, and russian call up is no factor at all

AHLers adding no depth. VGK move a goalie from ghost pirates to henderson

meanwhile jill changed genocide joe’s depends, and their dog bit three more secret security agents, why pay for these agents. The dog seems to be doing the job ?

  32. My endless optimism for VGK is ebbing a bit after seeing the highlights…lowlights as thankfully I don’t have espn+…my issues start on the back end..the free safety in football is your catch all last line of defense… has to read the plays and be in the right place at all times…your goalie has to perform that same function.. your last line of defense.. your stopper.. your difference maker.. lately they actually have proven to be the difference maker.. the difference between attainable wins and the losses thst have added up and multiplied recently…directly in front of them is a D-corp that suddenly looks old and slow and refuses to engage the opposition with any type of physical play… it is noticed and preyed upon by our opposition….as much as a need for a forward might be required I would love to see a shakeup on the back end for the last 20 games…put Cormier and Korczak in..move Hague or Martinez or even original Misfit Mcnabb..when we get healthy our team WILL improve offensively as we will be 4 deep through our center position.. towel does not yet need to be thrown in by our cornerman.. the bleeding can be stopped by our cut man.. its just a matter of doing!!

  33. THE hockey God

DEMS cheated like hell in 2020, state courts and legislatures just catching up to them now !Delaware Democrats received a crushing blow to their mail-in voting strategy when Superior Court Judge Mark Connor said the current absentee mail-in vote laws and expanded early voting are “inconsistent” with the state’s constitution and “therefore cannot stand.”

Michael Mennella, a Delaware elections inspector, and Gerald Hocker, a Republican lawmaker and the state’s Senate Minority Leader, are suing Delaware for its laws permitting early voting and permanent absentee status. And it’s looking as though they will emerge as winners in the case.

According to Delaware’s Constitution, voters can only request absentee status for particular elections if they cannot attend the polls in person. However, Conner highlighted that under a law passed in 2019, individuals who voted absentee due to an illness in one year could maintain their absentee voting eligibility for all subsequent general elections.

Connor’s ruling upheld a 2022 decision that declared Election Day registrations and universal mail-in voting unconstitutional. The state Supreme Court ruled that the vote-by-mail statute unconstitutionally broadened eligibility for absentee voting, while same-day registration clashed with the constitutionally defined registration periods.

Further, Connor found that a law allowing in-person voting ten days before election day violated a constitutional provision specifying that general elections must occur on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November. Connor notes that, per Delaware’s Constitution, only one day is set aside for voting, not “any series of days the General Assembly sees fit.”

At the heart of the argument heard by Connor was the state attorney’s insistence that the General Assembly’s voting laws somehow “secure secrecy and the independence of the voter, preserve the freedom and purity of elections, and prevent fraud, corruption, and intimidation.”  According to Connor, the state failed to show how their laws around absentee ballots and early voting accomplish this goal.

Lacking the substance to win the court case, Delaware Democrats are attacking the process instead. The state attorneys said Conner shouldn’t oversee the case because Mennella didn’t follow the rules for moving it from another court. However, the judge didn’t agree, nor did he agree with the defense’s argument that the defendants faced a statute of limitations.

In 2010, the General Assembly passed a law allowing permanent absentee voting in some instances. In 2019, the legislature, controlled by Democrats, passed an early voting law that was subsequently used in 2020’s general election, for the midterms in 2022, and a special election.

In Delaware, the process for amending the constitution follows specific steps. Initially, an amendment can be proposed in either the Senate or the House of Representatives. If two-thirds of all the members elected to each house agree to the proposed amendment, it is recorded in their journals along with the yeas and nays. The proposed amendment must then be made public not more than 120 days before the next general election and not less than 90 days before the following general election, as specified by an act of the General Assembly. Following the election, during the General Assembly session, the proposed amendment must once again receive the agreement of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. Only after this approval process does the proposed amendment become a part of the Delaware Constitution.

Democrats in the state have made numerous attempts to broaden voting access through legislation rather than amending the Delaware Constitution. While Democrats have sufficient Senate votes to pass constitutional amendments without GOP support, they lack the numbers in the House to achieve the two-thirds vote necessary to pass the amendment.

But Delaware is not the only state facing election law changes and challenges. Since the 2020 election, several states have significantly revised their voting laws, reshaping the landscape of electoral processes. A report by the Voting Rights Lab explores the changes seen in eight battleground states. Among these states are Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, where the margins of the 2020 presidential election were often less than two percent. The alterations to voting policies in these states, such as strict mail ballot ID laws in North Carolina and the reinstatement of in-person voting requirements in New Hampshire, can potentially sway election outcomes in close races.

In Georgia, new restrictions on mail voting, including ID requirements and limitations on drop boxes, have been implemented. At the same time, voters in Wisconsin may face hurdles in returning mail ballots, pending litigation that could influence the rules ahead of the 2024 election.

The Delaware lawsuit challenging early voting and absentee ballot laws appears to be making progress, reflecting a broader pattern of election law changes happening across the country. With 56% of voters expressing concerns about potential cheating impacting future elections, there’s a growing worry about election integrity. However, if voters and election officials continue scrutinizing and discussing voting laws, there may be hope for a fair election in 2024.

For fans who just won a Cup there sure is quite a lot of whining going on around here

  35. Rashaad

Both Logan Thompson and Adin Hill are not the most durable goalies. I don’t trust any of the goalies in Henderson. If we didn’t have Brossoit last year we would have been screwed. VGK have such an abundance of cap space now that Ken also said that they may make a trade as a 3rd team broker to retain salary. I think they get a goalie.

Alex Nedeljkovic (In a package with Guentzel) would be great. Other potential goalies for insurance are James Reimer and Alex Stalock. All of these goalies are on expiring contracts.

  36. vgk21

since the draft is in Vegas this June, I wonder if that will affect the willingness of Vgk to trade away their #1 pick in 2024 in any trades they make?

    • Rashaad

Vgk21, that’s a fantastic point. I would certainly hope not. I know that Toronto made a deadline deal last year to acquire a 1st round pick and the draft was in Toronto.

Toronto traded Rasmus Sandin to the Washington for Erik Gustafsson. Toronto also received a first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

    • Pistol Pete

No way they get Guentzel of Buchnevich without trading a #1 and #2 plus a prospect or rookie roster player like Dorofeyev. Will be worth every penny imo. Can you imagine Guentzel with Eichel? Talk about sick.

      • vgk21

apparently Dubas wants a player and a pick

Elliote Friedman: “Jake Guentzel, the number one forward remaining on the market. From what I understand Pittsburgh has told teams they are more interested in two prospects as opposed to a prospect and a first-rounder. They prefer prospects over picks. That’s what Pittsburgh has told teams.”

  38. Rashaad

    That’s scary!!!

Calgary is not even trying to win and they keep trading players and away.

VGK may not have Eichel and Stone but they shouldn’t be playing this shitty.

  39. Larry i gotta say you made some really good points and insights too. i dont know if FO would be able to make such drastic moves and alter the defense so much, but it would let them get younger and faster, so I guess we will see how everying pans out in a few days.

  40. Pistol Pete

I was mistakenly thinking the Kings would be competing with us for a WC, but no if they take over 3rd place it’s us and NSH as the likely WC’s. STL and CGY are both 7 pts back of us. Won’t get EDM in first round as a WC (fwiw). We should get a spike in wins with the TD acquisition(s). Worst that can happen is we lose the race for Guentzel or Buch. Even if we just get a Vatrano that’ll help.

  41. Rashaad

    Pistol Pete,
I could think of something worse that could happen and that’s Vegas not making the playoffs at all. I would say that there is an 85% chance that they do make it but the chance exists if they keep playing like ass. Looking at Vegas schedule I would almost say it’s probably 91,92% that they get in but not impossible. If they lose to Columbus (not likely but they got their asses kicked by Buffalo) then the remote possibility grows.

i’m with you on the optimism as they deserve the benefit of the doubt because they are the champs, but let’s not pretend that the possibility doesn’t exist. It’s not like they are 15 points ahead of St. Louis and Nashville . They used to be.

    • Pistol Pete

I was off by one—8 pts ahead of STL and CGY not 7. Imo losing to Buffalo was another instance of it being hard to win minus your top line center, captain winger plus three other starting forwards. Fourth line I was not Carrier-Roy-Kolesar it
was three minor leaguers. I don’t care if folks say they played like shit and should have won the game the reality is it’s a challenge to beat any time with this lineup. Eichel should be back today. Hope Cassidy puts Roy as 4C so at least there is that depth down the middle. Rempal can play 3RW and Morelli can play 4LW. Better than the Henderson 4th line.

Not sure what the Flames record is following the Lindholm trade but it’s got to be harder for them to win as it will be for the Blues if they lose Buchnevich.

  42. Rashaad

St. Louis, Calgary and Nashville all charging towards Vegas which is a bit embarrassing in spite of VGK injuries as these teams have all been speculated to be sellers at the deadline.

Tonight I just want two points against Columbus and I don’t care if it looks pretty or ugly.

    • Pistol Pete

Looks like the wild cards will be NSH and Vegas. No home ice and no EDM in round one. Vegas opens a series on the road and that puts enormous pressure on the home team to win both games.

  43. THE hockey God

    9 to 0 , common sense prevails

nothing close to insurrection on Jan 6th

idiot lib tards are exploding, so gullible these idiots are.

  44. Rashaad

Pistol Pete, Calgary has traded away Elias Lindholm and Chris Tanev and they keep winning. The VGK injuries are a thing, but not against Buffalo or Columbus. No friggin way. It shouldn’t be an excuse against Columbus tonight. Lots of teams have injuries. No Elvis Merzlikins or Patrick Laine tonight

    • Pistol Pete

That’s fine I guess except we can’t say a team is expected to play much above .500 missing their top line center, captain winger and four other starting forwards. I realize it’s been a mediocre run since starting 11-0-1 but it is what it is. All that matters is getting more healthy and not being burned out come playoff time. Last season was very long one. It was for Florida too but their fire must be burning very hot to win what they could not last year.

  45. Rashaad

I’m not overreacting like a lot of people do in this forum, but I am legitimately concerned because of 14 straight weeks of mediocrity.

  46. JB

I believe we will see a different team and effort on the ice tonight vs Columbia. Why do I say this? Because it must be or we are done. I mean bye bye playoffs if we don’t win tonight. I’m sorry to say this, but our boys must show they even care about making it. Tonight will tell!

    • Pistol Pete

It is not bye bye to the playoffs if we don’t win tonight. We are pts 8 pts ahead of STL and CGY the two teams closest to us should LA take over 3rd place. That is, if LA goes into 3rd place we are in the lead for a wild card berth 8 pts ahead of STL and CGY. If we lose and they win the lead will be reduced to 6.

      • Pistol Pete

I should have clarified that NSH is other probable WC team. If the VGK falls out of third place they and NSH will be leading the WC race currently an 8 pt margin for Vegas before the Columbus game.

  47. NAM

I don’t have a whole lot of faith. This team was losing with Eichel and Stone. In fact it didn’t go on a decent run until Eichel got hurt. Stone was a killer though. I don’t have a lot of high hopes Eichel will fix all when he comes back. It certainly can’t hurt though. If trades can’t shore up what is missing i am not sure the near future is bright.

On the other hand, I knew we were a solid team last year, but never thought we would survive EDM and/or DAL to win the cup. Heck it looked like we were going to lose to the Jets after game 1. BOS looked like a lock in the east. So crazier shit can happen. Just survive to the playoffs. Just need a chip and a chair, as they say.

    • Pistol Pete

It’s obvious you don’t understand how they were able to win the Cup.
