Praise Be To Foley, Vegas Golden Knights Hockey Website

Recap: The Golden Knights were hoping to keep their seven-game point streak alive. Vegas was outshot 14-3 in the opening period, but their defense kept Arizona off the board. Through 20 minutes, the two teams were locked in a scoreless tie.

Vegas’ offense woke up out of their slumber in the middle frame. The Coyotes got on the board first, but it was all Golden Knights from there. First, Jack Eichel evened the score with his 27th goal of the season. William Karlsson followed up with his 27th a few shifts later. Minutes later Anthony Manta gave Vegas a two-goal lead and Chandler Stephenson extended it to 4-1 before the break.

Surprisingly, the Coyotes fought back in the final frame and scored six goals to completely flip the game on the Golden Knights. Vegas thought they had scored the game-winning goal when the score was 4-4 but the play was deemed offside. Arizona took the lead with five minutes remaining and added another and then another into the empty net to shock the Golden Knights 7-4.

The Golden Knights record drops 42-26-8 falling to the Coyotes 7-4 in Arizona. Vegas will next travel to Vancouver for a big divisional matchup with the Canucks on Monday night. Puck drop against the Pacific division leader is scheduled for 7 PM. (Recap by Jason)

Analysis: It will go down as the worst collapse in the history of the team in a regular season game. The Golden Knights were in complete control, up 4-1 with 12 minutes left. Then, the train not only went off the tracks, it lit on fire and blew up. Logan Thompson allowed six goals in the 3rd period and VGK dropped a game against one of the worst teams in the league. Truly unbelievable. (Analysis by Ken)

Pacific Leading Team Losing Confidence As Regular Season Wraps Up

    • knights fan in minny

wow lol what kind of comment is that i get it coming from a piece of shit loser

  1. Satan

Greetings Knights fans. Satan in the house. This game is a classic example of why Satan never bets on sports. It was a bad one. Oh boy! Does it change the fact that they went 9-2-1 before this debacle? No it does not. Just throw this one in the garbage and move on. It’s good to get your ass handed to you when you deserve it. If they would’ve won this 5-4 in overtime, they would’ve learned nothing. I’m already over it. Satan has moved on from this. Can you? Bring on the Canucks.

    • TS

Satan, I’ll move on with our next WIN. Until then, this game will haunt me. CURSES!!

  2. Earl the Replanted Transplant

Lack of respect for the game. That was a crap performance and every play should be ashamed. On more than one occasion this season the VGK have not treated a lower caliber team with respect and lost because of it. Every point counts and they gave away 2 big ones tonight. Nobody should come here and try to sugarcoat that performance.

  3. David T

Disgusting breakdown. They completely lost their focus. This was an embarrassment.

What the HELL happened tonight?? That Hague no- call showed the most home- ice BIAS I have seen!! It changed everything! not to excuse the 6 frigging goals AZ scored in the 3rd, but everything, and the damn refs destroyed OURS!

  5. Pathic sorry ass bunch who should be ashamed of themselves. Badly beaten by a team that had nothing to play for but pride and that definitely showed up in third as Vegas went on holiday. You can’t play 20 minutes regardless of opponent and expect to win.

  6. Unfortunately the rest of this road trip is meaningless. They’re not going to have home ice advantage. Whoever they play is like pick your poison. May as well play the best team possible since they won’t come in over confident.

  7. Richie-Rich

The non-call on Hague being pulled backward to the ice by his jersey on the game tying goal was the trigger to the total collapse. Had that call been made the score would have remained 4-3 VGK with them going on a power play.

I am not blaming the refs for the loss, it was a total shit show in period 1 and 3. But that non-call was very significant and could have made the difference.

    • TS

Rr, absolutely!! Just as I saw it! And yes, the REFS SUCK!

    • I know nada

I thought, as a fan (sort of), this game is over after the second.
when goldies are figure skating beginning of the 3rd, I gave up and accepted the half hour long dining invitation.
See, I’m old, I don’t see very well, the 75″ widescreen in 4k a couple feet away, and at least two tries of a jersey pull.. and before that the Marchy penalty.. somewhere deep down inside the head came that question to mind, like I was Alicy in wunderland.. why didn’t I check 3rd period money line (it happened once before;)

But, the pasta sauce barred me from remote rerun, or fumbling a touch screen, and the mouthful, it pretty much dotted the agreement of hang down my head Tommy Drooly;)

  8. Jw

This one needs to be remembered. If the VGK get bounced in the first round mark my words. Bruce Cassidy will be fired. The constant line shuffling and power play make it so difficult to gel. The players are not bought in on his pp scheme. Personally they never ever should have hired Ducharme. Go back to Juniors sir.

    • knights fan in minny

      butch will not get fired

      • TS

Kfim, Agreed! Cassidy stays another year, no matter the outcome this season. Ya don’t fire a great coach after ONE less- than- stellar season!

  9. From the outhouse of a first period to a penthouse of a second period and then to an outhouse of mythical proportions in the third!!

Yes there was a complete non-call on Hague being dragged down, and yes the puck went in off Hanifin’s skate, but mercy was Logan flat out pathetic in that period.

The debacle actually started in the offensive zone in the sequence leading to the yotes second goal, Mantha got cutesy with the puck attempting a Cotter move, which parenthetically never works, and it led to a rush the other way leading to the second goal.

    • Larry I watched the replay last night, and it looks like you were right about the Mantha ‘move’, it showed a disregard for the game and opponent.

  10. Duckboy

this is why i shut off the games when the knights are up by 3 goals. It will either be boring af, or only bad things will happen.

  11. PJT

The yote goals were mainly a result of puck luck more than anything but VGK still needed to recognize that it was mercury retrograde and that this kinda thing happens and they needed to get over it and play hockey instead of seething away the rest of the game.

This reminds me not so much of the Nashville game a few days back but more like that game 7 meltdown in 2019 when Cody Eakin cross checked Pavelski and got a 5 minute major and VGK squandered a 3-0 lead in the 3rd to lose the game by letting the Sharks score 4 past them.

The good thing is that this time, it’s just a regular season game. Do better guys. Gkg!

    • Pistol Pete

I agree PJT. Thanks for being an understanding forgiving fan lol. As I posted below this was not good but there WAS enough bad fortune in that three goals 1 min. 7 sec. run for to turn the game from a winner into a loser. Definitely some puck luck that went against the champs. The reversal on the Martinez goal was legit but made it all the more difficult. Yeah they should have been able to buckle down against adversity like champions can. A win would have put them in position to clinch Monday. Very disappointing.

      • TS

PJT, I recall a 1st or 2nd year playoff game, when we were assessed an errant 5 min penalty, and the other team went on to score a LOT of goals afterward— was it VS the Sharks? The loss sent us home, I think. The VGK ALSO imploded after the BAD call! Shell-shocked!!!

        • TS

PJT,Oh, crap…you mentioned that VERY call I was trying to recall!! Like Minds!

  12. Pistol Pete

Definitely could have been stronger on the puck better puck management during the Arizona three goals in 1 min. and 7 sec. but definitely some bad misfortune too such as the 4-2 goal going in off Hanifin’s skate (he nearly pushed it in) the BS missed penalty call involving Hague that lead to the 4-4 goal. Several of the Arizona goals were shots from the outside with probably two of them LT wanting back. LT was really good in the first period but eventually did not have his best game for example the first Arizona goal shot from near the boards should not have beaten him. Not sugar coating this as it was not good but it looked even worse than it was. The challenge reversing the Martinez goal was legit. EDM clinched at 96 pts and the VGK needs two more wins out of six to do the same. Not sure what is going on with Petro. Hope he does not have an autoimmune disorder as that is chronic. Hopefully him, Roy and Hertl on Monday. Brissson has been awesome. Picked up
another point and now 8 (2 G/6 A) in 14 games…excellent. Could he be a guy able to consistently elevate his play when playing with NHL teammates? That can happen then you just have to be able to defend against NHL players too. Cormier looked good too I thought. Another player who plays better in the NHL than the AHL?

    • TS

Pp, talk @ practice Monday was that one of Petro’s kids had been sick before…maybe Petro caught it? Idk, mere speculation, I suppose….

  13. knights fan in minny

i missed the 3rd i hope butch read them the riot act

    • TS

KFIM, Do NOT watch any replays! You’ll be sorry you did! Btw: I appreciate the fact that we can disagree on something, but NOT make it personal.

  14. JB

No excuses, no words, for THAT. Well, this will either lead to a collapse or wake us up and get back to playing well.

  15. Tim

I’ve said it all year we’ve been a tick off no consistency we can beat the best and lose to the worse teams. Ken just had an article that Edmonton beats up on the weak teams good for them that’s what your suppose to do. Unfortunately we don’t have that killer instinct hence we’ve lost a lot of games to bottom feeders. We usually fare well against good teams and lay an egg against bottom feeders when are they going to realize how many 2 point games they miss out on by taking days off. Stone is the straw that stirs the drink and with him not in there we lose our identity. Make the playoffs and hope Hill, Stone, and Hertl are back otherwise the famous cry of wait till next year will be on everyone’s lips.

    • JB

      F*CK off Tim!

      • TS

        Jb, temper, temper!

      • ThG

Tim fell off his lazy boy AGAIN, Get back to Baseball. See Timmy throw the ball, see Timmy hit the ball. Run Timmy run, see Timmy catch the ball.
Watch the grass grow, and paint it green.

PS Joe Biden is a POS, telling Israel to fuck off , our greatest ally, is all one needs to know.

    • TS

Tim, I think many teams play DOWN to weak teams, and RISE UP to the better teams. WE sure do.

  16. This may be a far-fetched reason for Logan’s ineptness in the 3rd period… but….he took a blast right into the upper part of his mask, could he have been concussed, or the way he was flailing at pucks simply have been shell-shocked???

    • TS

Larry, LT took a headhit the prior game, as well. Makes you wonder, when he seemed clearly off his usual game last night. Let’s hope not…

    • Well posters not sure any critique of the past makes any difference, or the ref situation as they missed calls of one kind or another all night going both ways. Bottom line Vegas went on holidays in the third and Arizona’s pride was more important to them than Vegas’s desire to win. Hopefully just another lesson learned and moving on to a win Monday evening.

  17. TS… agreed and agreed!!

  18. Bobby

How to explain this late meltdown. The whole thing makes no sense, seems like the Cassidy timeout just made them play worse. All the strong momentum lately, out the window with this one. Other NHL teams must be looking at VGK in a different way now.

  19. Henderson Knights

That total collapse vs Arizona brings up is THIS question……..can the Vgk even beat Chicago or Anaheim? after all, they have lost almost 20 games to non-playoff teams this season, and Chicago beat them once already IN VEGAS, and the Ducks have beaten them TWICE already.

  20. ThG

I blame global cooiing, errr, global warming, errr climate change. Oh the clowns on left have two new terms (not to mention their complete misuse and over use of the word “diversity): local temperature aberrations, and get this “weather” disasters.

Will these money grubbers ever stop coming up with new terms for the climate hoax bull shit.

Can anyone say “bad” ice ?

  21. ThG

also not the worst collapse EVER by VGK team, the MAF two muffs in the playoffs are still tops (san jose collapse and montreal- MAF basically put puck into own net).

And what is up with pulling the goalie with three minutes left in game ? That is far, far , far too early. It’s just plain stupid, I don’t care if anyone starts with “well, the analytics say this or that”. That is just plain WRONG.

  22. I disagree totally… down 2 goals there is no time like the present to try and get back in the game…. granted our PP is not exactly robust and pulling the goalie is an extension of that.. but have to give yourself at least a chance by pulling the goalie!

    • ThG

larry, not that early in game

still plenty of time left later

      • ThG we are going to have to respectfully disagree with each other on this point,

down 2 goals with 3 minutes left doesnt leave ‘still plenty of time left later’.

Regardless, the fact we are having this discussion after a 4-1 lead after 2 periods borders on the incredible lol!!

        • TS

Idk, larry…we SUCK at 6-5. We SUCK when our net is empty. It hasn’t worked for the team. I cringe every time it happens, knowing it is a FUTILE move, 99% of the time. Do we keep trying it, hoping for success, or adopt a different approach?? Idk, just saying..

          • TS… yes…but… it has to be done regardless to give the team an extra skater…again it is simply akin to our power play whereby we don’t win enough faceoffs to set up zone time and of course the opposition has an empty net to target on the other end.

  23. NAM

Everyone, not named Karlsson, is to blame for last night. The passing was awful. The positioning and defense was awful.

My worst dman award goes to Whitecloud. Not sure why Hutton, who was on fire, sat out and Whitecloud got to come in and embarrassed himself. Theo was second worst for me. Not sure why he made Ken’s 3 stars. I guess flubbing the puck all night is impressive to some.

Bad passing. Someone tell Marchy when he rushes into the zone with the puck and gets met with defenders, don’t stop and blinding pass the puck to the other team or make a pass so bad the other team easily gets it. He was far from the only one making bad passes, but damn dude , if you want to be elite stop your bad passing when you gain the zone. He has done this all season and is probably second to Cotter losing the puck in the offensive zone after gaining the line.

The power play: good fucking grief man. There is a lot of good players on this team, but the skill set of these player as a PP unit will never be good.

To stop on a positive: Karlsson’s line was good and their tic tac toe transition goal was sweet! Glad to see that line gelling more and more.

    • Thg

whitey ?? NAM ? Um no.

learn to watch a game and see what’s really going on

Goal 1: 3-on-3 rush for ARI. Hanifin beat at blue line. Pass to other side, block missed by Hague, puck slips through Thompson and deflects off Hanifin into own goal.

Goal 2: Howden loses stick battle in O-Zone and bad line change causes 3-on-2 rush for ARI. McNabb goes with net drive player leaving Bjugstad wide open in slot. Shot beats Thompson.

Goal 3: VGK call timeout. VGK win draw from center circle back into own zone. Thompson plays it to Hague who gets hauled down (illegally?) and loses it. Shot from wide angle beats Thompson.

Goal 4: 3-on-2 rush for VGK. Barbashev drop pass misses Eichel by a lot. ARI picks it up and has a 2-on-3 rush. Poor gap from Martinez allows Kerfoot an easy entry. Backchecking Eichel loses Carcone who gets a shot from the top of the circle.

Goal 5: McNabb loses stick battle under red line in own zone. ARI cycle it and find shot from the high slot with 2 VGK players in the shooting lane. Puck does not appear to be deflect off VGK skater but hits Thompson and goes in.

Goal 6 (empty net): VGK shot is well wide before 6th skater enters O-Zone. Puck bounces off back wall past 1 VGK and 2 ARI to an ARI player moving out of the zone.

      • NAM

I did watch the game dip shit and I call it as I see it. Doesn’t mean he was responsible for every goal. He just played like shit all game.

  24. Earl the Replanted Transplant

Imho Morrelli should’ve been called up to play 4th line and not Brisson.
