Over the years, NHL.com has caught up with players to have a little fun and show off their personalities. This time, the league’s outlet asked the pros to share what they considered the most embarrassing moment of their careers. Several Golden Knights players made the cut and shared their so-called “most embarrassing” NHL moment.
The most embarrassing NHL moment, I scored an own goal in San Jose. The goalie wasn’t very happy with me. I think I tried to carry the puck in front of the net and it went off of my stick and into the net. So, that’s probably my most embarrassing moment. –Jack Eichel to NHL.com
Miscues happen to every player. As flawless as Jack Eichel looks on the ice, even the top-line center had a submission, and it was quite comical. Thankfully, Eichel’s blooper happened when he was a member of the Buffalo Sabres.

Either in Mites, Juniors, NCAA or even in the NHL, putting the puck in your own goal occasionally happens. However, as proven by Eichel, a player (or the goalie) never forgets about a clumsy blunder. Nor do players forget about losing an edge or falling on the ice unprovoked.
Vegas’ starting goaltender Carter Hart had an embarrassing moment of his own that he shared with NHL.com. While in Philadelphia, Hart was heading back to the ice after an intermission and seemed to forget he was on skates.
Coming off for the 3rd period and I toe-picked in front of everyone. We were running out of the tunnel, and I toe-picked right on my face. Then I fell skating in my crease too. I was like; ‘oh my gosh, what’s going on?’ –Carter Hart to NHL.com
Hart was far from graceful in that moment, but his tumble didn’t impact the score like Eichel’s error. Nevertheless, VGK’s number one netminder hasn’t forgotten about his poorly landed pirouette years back.
The first two embarrassing moments occurred on the ice. So, why was Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl embarrassed after scoring his famous four-goal night in 2019?
When I scored my four goals I get to the locker room and there’s a picture I did back home when I was 17 or 18. A picture like Jagr, I had a little blonde hair. Guys put it on the big screen in the locker room, and it was there forever. They were making fun all the time about it. I was kind of embarrassed. –Tomas Hertl to NHL.com
Per usual, Hertl’s personality stole the show. While other NHL stars were highlighting their in-game or on-ice misfortunes, the lovable Golden Knight recalled an entirely mortifying teenage photoshoot from the Czech Republic. However, he openly dredged up the infamous glamour shot with his giant patented smile. Hertl’s too happy to be embarrassed by much.

Hertl could’ve used his blunder in the game vs. Buffalo a couple years back where instead of shooting for the empty netter for the dagger, he went to drop it to Jack and it got picked off, they tied it, sent to OT, and the VGK lost.

J. Rob talked about his 1st NHL goal going off his butt. Pavel Dorofeyev’s first NHL goal went off his face and in. Would’ve been good had they checked in with him. That’s a pretty good clip.
