SinBin.vegas Podcast #160: Gusev Day Already Over?

  1. Mark

Any update on Nosek? Thought he was close too?

  2. Sam

    Anything new on Gusev?

    • McPhee said the two sides are still trying to figure out something that works for both but there is “no urgency” to the situation. I highly doubt it gets done tomorrow but I do think he’ll sign with VGK before the offseason is over.

  3. Mark

We have to make room for Gusev, IMOP. Is their room for Eakin to stay since we moved Haula?

    • Rabbit

      We’re KEEPIN Eakin.
      Cody freakin’ Eakin.
I just don’t think you understand.
      He wins every face-off
      He’s better than Radulov
      We’ve got Cody Eakin

      Oh yeah we’ve got Eakin.
      Cody freakin’ Eakin.
I just don’t think you understand.
      He plays on the PK
      And the power play
      Yeah we’ve got Cody Eakin

  4. Brian

So start of season (game 1) Clarkson salary comes off and Nikita signs….

    • Mark

Gusev will sign before then. Remember you are allowed over the cap in the summer, so more possible is

      Gusev signs
Last day of camp, Gusev sent to Chicago on paper
First day of regular season, Clarkson to LTIR then Gusev “recalled”

  5. vgk2019

as I predicted yesterday, Carpenter goes to Blackhawks, as they need penalty killing forwards.

Engelland will be a 1 year, bonus laden contract, reportedly $1M with 700k bonuses.

  6. vgk2019

not officially Ken. Just the insider talk of recent days

  7. vgk2019

Pavelski and Perry both going to Dallas.

Snarks will lose Meier in 4 yrs because they are paying him $10 mill in the final year of his contract, which means that they have to give him that 10 as a qualifying offer then.

Snarks lost Joe Pavelski, and Nyquist, and Donskoi too

meanwhile they will get even older with 40 somethings thornton and Marleau, both of whom were stripped of their captaincy, as was Joe P today

  8. vgk2019

    Bellemare to Avs ….2 yrs

  9. vgk2019

Patrick Brown is basically a Carpenter clone. He is a good checker, right handed forward, dependable 4th liner.

  10. vgk2019

    PIRRI returns !!!!!!!!

    Pirri 2 yrs, 775k

    Nosek, 1 yr, $1M

  11. vgk2019

interesting that the Knights are seemingly keeping Pirri as insurance in case Gusev or Pacioretty are moved.

    • Mark

I left this on FB, but kinda my thoughts on the Pirri signing

“A little shocked by Pirri. Thought someone else would give him a chance.

But saying that Gallant likes him enough, so if the money is the same, might as well stay where you are comfortable.”

      • Mark

Stay here because of cost of living and taxes, Pirri gets that.

  12. vgk2019

Montreal with an offer sheet to Sebastian Aho

The proposed contract is a five-year deal with an average annual value of $8.454 M

    Canes must match or get 3 picks, a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

  13. vgk2019

    from Jesse Granger—–

The Golden Knights are currently at $78.925 million in cap hit not including David Clarkson’s contract, which will go on LTIR. That leaves roughly $2.5 million to sign Deryk Engelland, Malcolm Subban, Nikita Gusev and Jimmy Schuldt. Another move is coming. It has to.

    ———————————–

now we see why they re-upped Pirri

  14. Casey

As entertaining as I find Reaves… if he’s got to go he’s got to go. I don’t love Pacioretty’s contract but I don’t think we have a very good substitute unless Gusev or Pirri can plug and play there at a very high level.

  15. Dman

    Pacioretty 22 goals in 66 games….

Pirri 12 goals in 31 games, a better scoring ratio than Pac

Pac was a MINUS 13, the worst on the team 5-on-5

Pirri was a PLUS 7. iow, 20 goals better than Pac at even strength

  16. vgk2019

well I guess you can forget about Gusev …..McPhee sounds absolutely iffy and vague about him playing for vgk

    Adam Hill 1h
He’s taken calls on Gusev and doesn’t anticipate making another move to clear space. The smart money seems to be on Gusev no longer being a part of this organization.

    Ben Gotz
McPhee said he doesn’t anticipate making another cap-related move.

    • Mark

Really, I’m a big fan of Gusev, McPhee plays his hand close to the best. Hopefully, he returns. I want to see what he has.

  17. vgk2019

hey George, how about Gusev to Ottawa for Erik Brannstrom?

    remember him? you drafted him.

solves the cap and the PP
