The Golden Knights hit the road for a four-game road trip to the Eastern Conference starting in Columbus. Vegas took a 2-0 lead in the opening period, receiving goals from William Karlsson and William Carrier.
Columbus scored the only goal on the 2nd period, cutting Vegas’ lead in half.
The Golden Knights record improves to (17-6-1) defeating the Blue Jackets 3-2 in shootout. Vegas will travel to Pittsburgh for their second of the four-game road trip. Puck drop against the Penguins is scheduled for 4P PT. (Recap by Jason)
Close up of Eichel shows two spots for stitches. Saving grace is that it looks like the puck sort of hit him flat. Lucky he doesn't have a broken eye-socket.

vgk21
the Henderson grads, LT and Cotter, won it for the Knights.
VGK should play all 82 games on the road.
10-1-1 on the road
a very disappointing 7-5 at home, with some really lackluster performances and 2 bad losses on the weekend
Tim
vjk21, Truer words were never spoken lackluster performances covers our home games.

this game should have been over in regulation time why can’t hauge take anybody out in front of his own net the second goal was on him i would not be surprised if they don’t win any of the next 3 on the road trip they could not put away a team with a bunch of no names they better bring there a game the rest of the road trip
Julie
I think you are right. The Knights squeaked it out which is good, but they had it in regulation and lost that lead. The Penguins game will not be easy.

Julie – don’t know if you saw my post to you on the Saturday evening day. Glad to see you’re still a fan of Vegas.

I apologize Julie and very sorry to read about your dad. I just went back and noticed you in fact did see the post I left you. Please accept and express my condolence to you and your family. Never easy losing a loved one. Take care.

Having issues holding a lead? But, a win is a win! LT great in shootout!
DL
Love how LT calls the shots, literally, after his last save in taking off his glove and holding up his fingers to the bench calling on #43 in the SO for the win.
TS
DL, YESSSS! Best Shooutout in memory– so much fun to watch! That single moment will cement LT’s place as our #1– no doubts. Cotter is the player a coach wants. Passion, attitude and CONFIDENCE. Both have it. Cassidy sure saw it, his comments were terrific.
Pistol Pete
As bad as CBJ has done this season they managed to beat the Panthers 5-3 a week ago last Sunday. As Cassidy said (paraphrasing), it’s tough to get any win in this league. Still though, I was a little taken aback that this game became a struggle against the team with the worst record in the East. The rest of this trip won’t be easy beginning with the Penguins.
Pistol Pete
Fact is, no game in the NHL is easy. A better way to put it is, the remainder of the trip will be a test like every game. The ones against top teams all the more so.
Tim
Pistol Pete as we conversed yesterday 2 goals or less a game isn’t going to get it done if you think your a contender. Yesterday against Columbus 2 goals in regulation again but I have a different take on the Blue Jackets I think they have pretty good personal but for some reason be it locker room problems, in fighting between players not sure what but they should be doing much better,
Pistol Pete
I noted above I was a bit taken aback by the struggle the game against CBJ became. I agree two goals a game won’t get it done but so far this season that has more been the case this 4-4-1 slog than earlier. For example the four wins vs. Jets and Leafs was 14 for 7 against. Do we have a problem with those numbers? Tim I see recurring alarmism is your posts when any kind of slog happens and it goes away when things improve. Might I suggest looking across larger samples? Don’t mean to sound facetious just trying to counter your never ending impression I view everything through rose colored glasses. I will be happy to become more pessimistic but not so far at 17-4-1.
THE hockey GOD
with another win, and VGK leading their division; that intangible and yet to be defined with any specifics “wise investment ROI” is looking pretty good at this point. Despite that fact that one player got hit in head with puck(and had to leave game for awhile) and other player sat the game out. That investment on EF Huttion and “welcome back” Cotter is looking pretty good after last nights game.
“most unsophisticated fan base in history”, Sinbin guest author point of view said it best, I didn’t say, just repeating it!
Richard Santomauro
Cassidy has to be extremely frustrated. The power play has regressed to 2021 levels the past few weeks. VGK unable to enter the zone, inability to set up, shots from the blue line, poor passing, lack of movement and scheme.
The VGK looked great implementing Cassidy’s defensive scheme on the PK earlier on in the season. I like the scheme, but they are being either too aggressive when they shouldn’t be and not aggressive enough when they should be. This has been going on now for 2 weeks. The aggressiveness is reactionary, the lack of it is completely mental with players concentrating too much on positioning and rotation. It’s going to take time for them to establish the chemistry needed for consistency. More practice is needed, but they haven’t had much time for it the past week.
Team still lacks toughness overall.
My own personal stars:
Logan Thompson – because I knew he would be good.
William Karlsson – playing much better this year
Marchy – as usual is a dynomite!
Eichel – plays at another level altogether – and should at $10 million.
Paul Cotter – playing extremely well, tough and has a ton of upside.
Richard Santomauro
Oh, and did I forget Aircraft Carrier? He’s still got upside and is getting more minutes and even time on the PP.
THE hockey GOD
nice take on status, RS, November has ended and statistically a little less than 27% of teams that are out of playoff spot make it in by end of regular season. That means statistically 73% of teams that are now over the line make it. So unless VGK implodes like they did last year, then they are in good shape. Only reason for concern is level of play, as you stated, have caught up to them. The trend that the franchise DOES NOT want is that of, like in a sprint race, the early speed dies every time. VGK franchise does not want to be that horse that always pops at the gate and runs out of steam. If so, that is sign of aging team. An aging team is not readily fixable. Even Bob Baffert turns over his stable on regular basis. The VGK reminds me a that veteran sprinter horse that has a lot of tricks up it’s sleeve. the trick it is to keep the horse patched together so parts don’t start falling off down the stretch run.
Two things I question, and it’s hard to question with team in first place. (1) the scheduling of alternating goalies, I would have done it a little different as the coaching staff doesn’t seem to rate rising teams (example Seattle game) (2) giving players time off, coach seems to pressing the same crew hard every game, that can only last so long.
BTW Bally Sports ohio sucks for showing the CAVS game on both of their broadcasts last nite.

The PP is almost going to have to improve vs. PIT, DET, BOS and NYR. It needs more practice obviously.
THE hockey GOD
PP they practice it every day, how much more can you expect? Maybe adding 23 to it and taking out some of dead wood would make a difference ?
Pistol Pete
Practicing is different than a game. Hopefully they get the technique and chemistry for it.
Foley Toffoli
they do not have the PP personnel to properly perform the power play.
they need to have a big shooter blasting from the point, and 2 guys in the net front area screening the goalie and ready for rebounds. That way you get goals from screened shots, from tipins, from redirects, and from rebounds, and just general meat and potatoes type goals.
They will NEVER have a good PP if they continue to play soft perimeter pattycake, and shoot wristers from the point with NOBODY in front of the net, like they do now.

Clearly you must be mistaken. No team can win with a talented roster of 5 million dollar mid-cap players, top prospects, and lots of cap space.
I thought the winning formula was to buy as many old high dollar players as you can fit then fill the rest in with cheap low end talent. It is import to push to the very max cap and then pray you don’t lose any players to injury.
THE hockey GOD
some people wouldn’t call 5 million, mid cap but more towards higher end ? ?

So if 9-12 million is on the higher end of players salaries and 750k-2 million is on the lower end of players salaries then 5 million is in the middle. Are you retarded or something?
I actually think hdbiker is a good poster and agree with alot of what he says, but you on the other hand are a typical douche bag troll that only wants to stir shit and posts under several names. I ignore most of your posts, but happened to agree the “kraken are creeping up on VGK” and posted a tongue and cheek comment about how teams are built, as I think teams should be built around 5 million dollar players (give or take) and not top heavy. Typical though, you want to turn it into a shit show. Good luck to you guy.
THE hockey GOD
you math defies logic, taking 9 to 12 million dividing by two is a simpletons way to do it. You have to look at total number for the whole organization. And if you have to include all the players on pay role. Since vast majority of players are skewed to one million and less salary. That means that the few players who make 5 to 6 million are certainly at the higher end.
To do short cuts is lack of understanding on how professional salaries are calculated. This calculation considers that the average salary of a professional hockey player in AHL is 65, 000 and average salary in NHL is a bit over 2 million. So considering those two averages, assuming the same amount of players (although the AHL has a lot more players), then the average salary of a professional hockey player is around one million. That make 5 to 6 million at high end, regardless of all the salary cap craziness. Sure you can say, well you are cheating I am only talking about NHL teams. STill at 2 million average salary, 5 million is twice that , so that is considered to be at higher range.
Since we are comparing posts I think that 50% of your posts are garbage. I feel like 80% of HD are garbage, especially since he always attacks me first without provocation. 100% of Alex, non Real TS, obvious are garbage.

It amazes me how much bashing of each poster goes on without really talking hockey. Whether you agree with someones post or not voice your opinion not calling him or her for a better lack of words a dumb shit. On a hockey note the Silver Knights are awful 6 and 14 and what makes it worse is most of the scoring is done by older players who don’t have a chance to make the Golden Knights. If it’s not time for a coaching change I don’t know when it would be. Again I like to use logic and playing these older players in there late 20’s into there 30’s is ludicrous. I’d play all the young guys 23 years old or younger your losing anyway so at least the younger players can get the experience. Sometimes the Knights management just baffles me. I’d love to know what there drawing at the Silver Knights games besides flies.

Per the last GI there’s a rumor the VGK is interested in Alex Formenton who the Senators have not yet re-signed presumably over a gang rape incident involving the Canada Junior team. Zack Hayes was traded yesterday freeing up a roster spot so something could be in the works. Apparently the investigation is complete and today before 5pm is the signing deadline. According to Mike, Formenton was the second fastest skater he saw in the AHL. He can score, getting 22 with OTT last season as a 21-22 year-old. A left winger. Exactly what the 3rd could use.
Pistol Pete
Correction I meant 18 G not 22.
The kid can score no question about it. 57 pts (31 G/26 A) in 64 AHL games. At 6’2” I would say he’s now a good deal heavier than the 165 currently listed on Wikipedia.
