Tomas Hertl was named 1st Star of the Week in the NHL this past week as he posted an impressive nine points in four wins, including three goals. His week was capped off by a career-high five-point night against his former team, tying the VGK record for points in a game (Mark Stone has done it twice).

Hertl becomes the 7th different Golden Knight to achieve this honor bestowed by the NHL. He’s the 2nd to do it this season, as Pavel Dorofeyev earned the nod with five goals in three games back in October.

Marc-Andre Fleury – March 3, 2019
William Karlsson – April 1, 2018
Jonathan Marchessault – November 26, 2017

Amazingly, Jack Eichel has never taken the top spot on the NHL Stars of the Week list. He’s the only player who has ever been named 1st Star of the Month, and he’s done it twice.

Stars of the Month

1st – Jack Eichel – March 2025
2nd – Max Pacioretty – December 2021
3rd – Marc-Andre Fleury – November 2021
3rd – Reilly Smith – February 2018

Eichel has been featured a few times as 2nd Star, including both times he went on to earn monthly honors. Marc-Andre Fleury made a living racking these up for the Golden Knights and joins the long list of Vegas goalies that have garnered weekly nominations.

Finally, the NHL also awards a Rookie of the Month. Only one Golden Knight has ever won, and it happened back in 2022.

Logan Thompson – November 2022

Midway through Season 9, the Golden Knights have had 29 appearances in the NHL weekly/monthly honors. Fleury’s seven leads the way. Edmonton’s Connor McDavid has been featured 41 times over the same span. Insane.

Hertl is a mountain of a man, fearless, always plays full force, never lays back, super savy/ smart player, like Stone.
    He has exploded this season!!
So very deserving of this recognition!!

I understand Wild Bill may have surgery and be out for the year. Do we then have 5.1 million in cap space? All you VGK fans chip in with you thoughts.

Id rather have him back, hes VGKs best checking C.

If hes announced as LTIR you betcha deadlines coming in hot.

I would rather have Wild bill back, but if not the extra money might give s a shot at improving the team enough to be considered cup worthy?

Per Cassidy , Hill might be in goal Thursday. He will not play Wednesday.

Saad and Howden are still out and will not play against the Kings

And as reported by Ken, Karly will be out for quite a while, possibly the season

Good to hear Hill is ready to return
…he’s gonna be pretty rusty, just hope he doesn’t reinjure something because he IS !

Cassidy admits in Review journal article that forechecking actively instead of just defending passively is the key to the turnaround lately.

for his info, it has been posted here for months by discerning fans that the hang back system was the problem. but I guess stubborn resistance was in effect until the losing streak brought the issue to the forefront.
