I think to define success you have to look at it over at least a ten year timespan so for me:

    1) In 10 years we still have a team.

    2) The Knights become a playoff team by year 5 or 6 and a serious cup contender by year 10.

    3) My kids (currently 2 and 5) are watching the Knights on tv, begging me to take them to games and are wearing Knights gear.

    4) There’s a huge buzz in town around the team by year 5 or so. People are watching the games at bars, most tickets are still being purchased by locals, co-workers are talking about last night’s game, Knights’ talk is dominating local radio, Knights’ news is the lead story in the RJ (assuming papers still exist) and on local tv news sports segment, etc.

    5) We have a superstar to rally behind. We need our own version of Crosby or McDavid.

    6) We drop Golden and add Las.
