Think I’ll pass on this one

  2. If and when a new coach come on board next year, I am thinking it will be Darryl Sutter.

    • knights fan in minny

Interesting choice Larry I’m sure there’s a pretty good list going Boudreau seems to pop up at a bunch of different places It will be interesting summer

  3. Minny what I hope are some of the players at HSK, like Lavoie can FINALLY make the roster and have an impact next year, along with Connelly as well as Uchaz, get younger faster and stronger.

    • knights fan in minny

Connolly for sure I’m surprised he hasn’t got a look already in these last few games

      • I think it’s cause of salary cap and how mccrimmon got us to the point of not being able to make a move of any kind unless someone gets injured.

      • Pistol Pete

I have have pushing Connelly here incessantly much like I pushed Pav years ago. It’s not about patting myself on the back or always being right. That is not the point. I am an avid VGK fan and excited for the prospect.

How does Connelly-Hertl-R. Smith/Bowman sound for line 3?

  4. Pistol Pete

I am just hoping Torts can make it past the first round. Based on early impressions I am hoping he does well and gets extended. Personable guy with a good head on his shoulders. This is his coming into a winning organization a great opportunity for a man with his breadth of experience. Whoops there I go repeating myself again.

Posters who complain about me repeating my points trying to shove it down their throats or whatever need to consider not everybody who visits the site is here all the time. They may have missed earlier posts I made on the same subject.

    • Pistol Pete

      Typos:

his FIRST coming into a winning organization

That is true. Always hired by a dog including TBL where he made it happen and won the Cup.

    • knights fan in minny

It’s not your job to Rinse and repeat the same old boring crap get over yourself

    • knights fan in minny

Early impressions it’s only been one game Get serious

      • Pistol Pete

There was the presser as well.

        • knights fan in minny

Wow that’s all you got When someone new comes in everybody is impressed pretty much a new message gets people excited

  5. Pistol Pete

    Per Ken:

In Tortorella’s first practice the only lineup change appears to be what he went to late in the game vs VAN. Marner and Eichel have been swapped.

    Barbashev-Marner-Stone
    Howden-Eichel-Dorofeyev
    Smith-Hertl-Sissons
    C.Smith-Dowd-Kolesar

Also now looks like Hanifin will go back with Andersson and Korczak with Lauzon.
    ——————-
I must now repeat the observation I made following the VAN game where Torts made the Eichel/Marner switch eventually having the Eichel line push the Marner. Occurred to me it works to have the Eichel line push given his speed.

Since I made the observation I thought of something else. Marner played center in the Juniors and wanted to play it in Toronto. I have made this point before at least once but I have a new idea. Marner was an established NHL winger coming to Vegas and to become a high scoring center will not happen overnight. Did I say high scoring? Yes I did, in fact might Mitch Marner come to score more as a VGK center than he did as a TOR winger? I don’t see why not.

Another thought can Torts work on these guys’ shooting? Everybody including Eichel and Pav? Not sure but it’s a thought.

    • knights fan in minny

Another same old thought Come up with something original once in a while

  6. Pistol Pete

At this point there is but one and only one sensible attitude for a fan to have, namely support the firing of Cassidy because clearly he had lost all ability to motivate these guys past their own ability to motivate themselves, and then believe Torts has the ability and experience to pull this because he is our only hope to rescue this disaster of a season.

    • Pistol Pete

      pull this off

    • knights fan in minny

So now you’re a shrink telling people How they should think About the firing of Cassidy So if torch doesn’t workout are you going to eat your words

  7. Pistol Pete

A fan can organize their own thinking on the situation. The above is only my suggestion but the most logical one in my own mind at least. We can oppose and lament Cassidy’s firing but that will not get us closer to our immediate objectives of making the playoffs and winning round one. Our only hope is the new coach that he can motivate the players and add some strategic wrinkles. Our fate for season is held in the hands of the coach and players. When they play well this is still a formidable team. I will be a loyal positive fan and place my faith in them.

Bowman to Henderson hart Must be on his way to playing

As I mentioned before they probably don’t have the cap space without waiving someone.

      • knights fan in minny

One time I repeat myself and you call it out get a lost loser

  9. Pistol Pete

Attention all those who attempted to trivialize our win on Monday as against the “worst team in the league”.

Well your “worst team in the league” just kicked ass in Denver against the so called best team in the league 8/6 (Canucks were up by three twice). Fine looks like Makar was out big effing deal. On to St. Paul tomorrow for the “worst team in the league”.

If we beat the Flames, third worst record in the league, I’m expecting the same BS excuses.

    Are you listening Ken?

    • knights fan in minny

Do Do you ever stop and listen to yourself talk more worthless Dribble So what if the Canucks won tonight What does that have to do With Vegas

  10. Pistol Pete

Following the response to JB above, here is Pistol Pete’s new policy re: attack posts:

    1. He will not respond directly to an attack post.

    2. He may choose to respond to a non-attack post by a poster who has in the past attacked him.

Bottom line is don’t attempt to attack Pistol Pete and expect a response in turn.

  11. I’ll tell you what’s important, and it ain’t the effing Canucks!

The Sharks scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes to beat the Ducks, and are now 5 points behind us with 2 games in hand.

The Ducks may very well be our first round opponent if we make the playoffs, as the $&@)( oilers may indeed pass them.

The Kings won in overtime and are 4 points back of us with a game in hand.

I am scoreboard watching every night and am tired of it, VGK needs to simply take care of their own business each game, cause if they don’t summer will be here sooner than anyone one of us wants for the Golden Knights!

    • Pistol Pete

Agreed Larry. I do think the VGK will make the playoffs. We might even win the division. I have no choice but to be all in on Torts and the players! Poo pooing the decision to fire Cassidy which I assume is most of what the podcast was about is just not where it’s at right now. We need Torts and the players to do their thing.

  12. Nobody knows for sure what will happen. I would like to see Connelly up here. Speed and passing would help. Vancouver did beat Colorado 8 to 6. I willing to give the new coach a chance. I’d like to see Anaheim in the playoffs first due to their lack of experience. Not sure why they waited till now to change the coach. Hard to make drastic changes.

  13. Pistol Pete

So let’s see how Hart does.

Here is Hill the last 12 games:

    5-5-2
    GAA 29/12 = 2.42
    SV% 215/244 = .881

He’s on an upswing GAA-wise, however the challenge is VGK leads the league in shots allowed 5 on 5, therefore he faces fewer shots explaining the excellent GAA and sub-par (though not extremely sub-par) SV%. Assuming Hill is not nursing sb-par health he should be able to improve his SV%.

  14. Pistol Pete

JB fwiw I did listen to the podcast. Glad I did!

  15. Firing a coach with 8 games to go……huge gamble

Bringing in a coach with a questionable past….. huge gamble

Playing a goalie who has been out 3 months….. huge gamble

Playing said goalie who had been out of the league for 2 years prior….. huge gamble

We are Vegas after all…. a huge gamble is what we were built on and has sustained us and made us stronger.

Maybe just maybe with Hart in net I won’t have to wince every time a shot goes towards the net as has been the case with Hill, and to a much lesser degree the forgotten goalie Akira Schmid.

Hart handles the puck a lot more effectively than either goalie, so maybe there can be cleaner and quicker exits.

Lots of maybes going into tonight and for the rest of the regular season. I’ve always felt the championship window was still open, but with this roster I truly don’t have that feeling any longer, but I sure am open to being totally surprised!

  16. JB

Yea, a nice surprise would be welcome! With two days of practice we’ll see what adjustments Tort has made. Also, should have a nice tribute for Whitecloud tonight!

    • Pistol Pete

Looks like he’s wants them shoot more and more accurately. More drills in the practices. See post below. Hopefully produces results.

  17. Pistol Pete

Straight from the horse’s mouth. I was glad to hear this. Not as much under Cassidy apparently. Good on Torts.

“Way more shooting drills at practice yesterday, good for shooters and the goalies.”

    • knights fan in minny

Shooting drills are easier said than done In practice you have no one coming at you like in a game Who knows if it will resonate in a game

      • JB

Well, let’s hope that it does help in the game!

      • Pistol Pete

Good point: Hopefully it’s about the mindset get up the ice and shoot shoot shoot.

        • Pistol Pete

Good point kfim that was and JB too!

kfim want you to know I try to take your criticism to heart and will work on toning it down a bit. Fewer posts and less reacting to the negativity.
