I wouldn’t have traded Smith .I mean I hope Barbashev comes close to Smith .He hasn’t yet or he didn’t in St.Louis.Who is going to play the pk and who is going to play with Karlsson in place of Smith? How about that line literally shutting down the best lines in the playoffs ? Did people not notice that ? Smith did that !!! And btw .The only thing we ever disagreed on Ken ,was coaching in the past .and coaching style .Cassidy was and is the perfect coach for them and I know you know that now .and maybe it’s cuz my dad and brother were coaches .But it’s sooo effin important .being able to show and give players things to do to fix things, practicing for every situation and finding ways to get results in different situations.like ,” if a team does this ” this is what you are going to do .how to get the best out of every player etc.soooo much goes into it .It’s CRITICAL . Burke is a very good goalie coach . Fairly certain he gets players best out of them Bingo !!! Jason I agree with who you said you could move !!!

I think they simply had to pick Smity or Barby. More upside, long term with Barby. Much younger, more physical etc…… Tuff decisions must be made as favorite players get older. Knights just couldn’t keep them both. I think for the next five years, the best decision was made.

Exactly agreed. Smith is a very good player and is probably at his peak. We started to see a glimpse of what Barbashev can become in the playoffs playing with Eichel and Marchy. Equal trade off in my book. The sweetner is Barby is 27 and Smith is 32. Gotta play the long game.

i guess some posters here missed the Stanley Cup finals playoff series based upon reading their opinions.
