This really was the perfect get-right game for VGK. No question who was the better team all night long and against a team right up there with them at the top of the conference.
VGK absolutely ate John Klingberg alive on the 6-on-5 situation. Every time he got the puck they threw pressure at him and he cracked over and over leading to the empty netter. VGK win the first of the home and home.
This period was heading the wrong direction for a while at the start, but VGK have turned it around the last few minutes and are looking to extend the lead, not just sit on it.

For some reason, VGK matched up well against TB in our first year. I think that would have been a fantastic final. And I would have taken VGK in 6.

Jason in the podcast you said it all you like to keep the fans spirits up. It would be a bummer if the fan base realized there was no chance for a Stanley Cup next year. As you and Ken broke down our previous drafts it doesn’t look good. Trades for Stone and patch were OK who new Suzuki would become that good. Stephenson great trade for a 5th rounder but he’s not a front line center more suited for third line. We can’t get a number one center because none are available and if they go after Jack Eichel then there not as smart as we thought. I miss Gallant he was a players coach and we’ll see how he does with the Rangers. Were a good team set to win the Pacific and then wait for the hammer to fall.

What DeBoer did by sitting Fleury after that fumble totally brought the team down. This is the semi-finals. Do you think Carey Price fumbles a puck and gets sit in that game? Hell no. Team momentum and cohesiveness is everything at this stage. The minute DeBoer saw an opportunity to put in HIS preference, he jumped on it and it was the wrong decision totally based on his bias. You need that team confidence high and dealing with any number of mishaps in the rearview. Most goals were by mishaps by other VGK players. You steam ahead. He broke the momentum totally and sat the Vezina winner. It was absurd. Two years in a row, DeBoer shit the bed with his goalie decisions in the playoffs. That’s a serious consideration for Foley and company
