The Golden Knights hosted the Seattle Kraken for the first of a back-to-back set at T-Mobile Arena. The Kraken opened the scoring 2:38 into the game and took a 2-0 advantage six minutes later. Vegas worked their way back and evened the score at 2-2 before the 1st intermission.
Like the 1st period, Seattle came out strong and scored in the opening five minutes of the middle frame. The Kraken would later double their lead late in the 2nd period and held a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes of action.
The offense dried up for both teams in the 3rd period. Vegas went scoreless over the final 40 minutes, mustering only six shots on net in the frame.
The Golden Knights record drops to (16-5-1) falling to the Kraken 4-2. It was Vegas’ first loss to Seattle in franchise history. The Golden Knights get right back to work tomorrow night against the Vancouver Canucks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7P PT. (Recap by Jason)

That’s 9-1-1 last 11 games for SEA going from 3-4-2 to 12-5-3. Kraken are an improved team playing hard.
Thought the VGK applied excellent pressure over the first 4+ minutes of period 2 right up to the Burakovsky goal at 5:22.
Overall the VGK got not extremely outplayed tonight by a hungry team on a roll trying to prove they are not trapped in expansion team oblivion.
Paradoxically the VGK was .1000 on special teams and what a period 2 save by Grubauer on Theodore to keep the 3-2 lead. VGK also dominated the faceoffs.
Howden is out with a lower body injury and am not sure Roy is 100%.

ARGH! Home games are turning into home Letdowns. Hill was sub-par, in my view. The team was slow to get cracking…too much turkey? Hard to play catchup when the legs are heavy.
Kracken were sharp and hungry. We were NOT. Tonight will be either a call to action or another Letdown….

TS, watching the game I did not see lack of effort or hunger. No team can stay on a win 80% pace. Not making excuses, just saying games have to be lost too. Kraken played well and with plenty of effort. Although this one ended up as one of the inevitable losses I was not extremely disappointed by the effort. More than a normal number of mistakes but it will happen. With all that it could have gone either way—Theodore nearly tied it 3-3 twice although SEA did hit a post in the 3rd. When multiple losses become a pattern it’s more cause for concern. Of course we could lose again tonight. Last game the Canucks played they beat COL on the road. They have plenty of offense but have trouble defending. Something tells me a Boudreau may find a way to improve that even their D is not particularly deep.

Biker we find common ground again. No way is beating the Canucks tomorrow a lock. I also agree the Kraken was faster than the VGK but I’ll stick to my position that the VGK showed effort, the results just were not there—some games are to be lost. I know when a real slump hits it does no good to point out that no team no matter how good will not win every game but that is true and each coach has a way to address it. I do think if the Kraken have “arrived” in only their second year (still a long way to the playoffs) their FO gets kudos for the more conservative from the ground up approach vs. what the VGK did in buying expensive veteran talent, however the VGK did make the playoffs their first four seasons running deep in all but one. It could be an ongoing debate but first we have see the Kraken make their first postseason.

I think this was the first time Cassidy from what we saw tapped a couple Prima Donna’s and said not good enough. Hill made some great saves but not good enough to keep us in it not his fault but still Jury is still out on Hill . I am glad Cassidy is jumping on these guys early in the season. Stones post game comments were very uninspiring and concerning. As a captain dont make excuses for your friends show some leadership. Eichle at least called it as it was they weren’t ready. Cassidy knows what’s comming in playoffs and the players who aren’t prepared to go all in need to be aware he will come for you . The VGK have played way better than I thought they would have through 22 games. They are still building chemistry. The single one glaring issue that I see is a lack of toughness when battling for pucks in a scrum. They are more often than not losing those battles. The only way to fix this is adding 1 or 2 players who are as tough as nails like William Carrier. Note, nobody fucks with the Aircraft Carrier. He’s earned more ice time.
Shootout possible tonight. Vancouver’s offense is good, but that opens them up for counterpunches.
