The Golden Knights have traded forward Pavel Dorofeyev to the New York Rangers, per TSN’s Darren Dreger. The return, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, is a 1st round pick in this year’s draft to be taken later tonight (#26), a 3rd round pick in this year’s draft to be taken tomorrow (#92), and a 2028 1st round pick that is top-10 protected.

Dorofeyev scored 37 goals in the regular season this year while scoring 35 last season. He also added 12 goals in 22 playoff games this postseason.

Per Elliotte Friedman, Dorofeyev is expected to sign a seven-year, $11 million AAV contract in New York.

  2. Richie-Rich

OMG – say a prayer for PP.

  3. Vic

Don’t settle in on these picks as they may be gone in a few hours.

  4. rb7

Andersson’s first victim of his megadeal.

  5. Jake

    Good move.

Never going to be a two way player.

    Not worth the $$$

Put Connelly or another sniper in there and they will get the numbers from Eichel feeding them.

    • knights fan in minny

Right on Jake Connolly and Bowman have to take the next step but let’s see what we do with those picks tonight You just never know

    • Carl

And in New York, Doro’s numbers are going down the shitter.

      • Ryan Spencer

Yup, he was in a power play playing with Stone, Marner, Eichel and Hertl that’s where he scored most of his points.

  6. Richie-Rich

Sharks have the 2nd, 9th and 27th pick in the 1st round. They could be a big problem next season.

  7. Carl

Kelly and George are about to do some crazy shit.

  8. knights fan in minny

Sounds like Pavel is getting 11 million a year Good for him

  9. HSK

    Vgk acquire Larkin and Werenski
    for #1 draft pick in the 2030,31, 32,33. 34. 35. 36. 37 etc to infinity drafts

  10. I think it’s a great move, very well done by the front office, I also think that these draft picks are going to be shipped to Detroit for Larkin!

    • Maybe thats a possibility but where is the cap space going to come from? In a perfect world would be Hertl but like too many contracts by vgk the agreed to too many NMC which limits things, so unfortunately might turn out to be #71 which will possibly turn out to be the darkest day in vgk history but also might make the most sense unfortunately.

Jaxon Cover, RW, London Knights (OHL)

    possible Vgk pick

  15. Richie-Rich

VGK trade down for a 3rd round 2028 pick from MTL. Now they have pick #28.

  16. Richie-Rich

With the 29th pick in Round 1 the VGK take
    Juho Piiparinen D FIN 6′ 2″ 204
    FINLAND

  17. DL

Well, that was eventful, in the wrong way, so far.

  18. Abdullah

Get a real top tier goalie FFS

  19. So it looks like we traded Doro for some future assets. I don’t like the trade because we lost our best scorer on a team that needs him. I araid they did this to pay Anderson. He was our only tradable asset. If we get Ro ertson or Larkin. But I don’t see this. Our team is now worse. I hope I’m wrong.

  20. Tim

Pavel D not worth 11 million a year for 7 years. Nice guy good luck I wish you the best.

  21. What I meant was unless we get a Robertson or Larkin type player we lost our best scorer who was getting better. Could have gotten him for 8.5 which is what we will pay Anderson. Don’t know how you get rid of bad contracts like Hertal,Hill,Hanny ect. Don’t know if Connelly is ready. Looks like a step backwards. But, I will be patient and see what Kelly does.

  22. Pistol Pete

You definitely move on from Pav @ $11m. A wonderful homegrown story but no way his career .65 pts/game worth $11m even with the 33 goals/82 games which btw is just one goal more than Eichel’s 32. Good luck to him. Maybe he blossoms into a better playmaker more assists and he keeps up his 32G/82 games pace. In fact I have my doubts.

Larkin is the only way I can see us replacing Pav’s goal scoring and with 30 or 30+ the last five seasons he stands to do exactly that especially with Marner on his wing so yeah Larkin is the answer (significantly better than Pav as a matter of fact, more assists a lot more, better defensively, plays the PK)> I have no idea how a deal mightg go down but with these picks we now have it could be possible.

Werenski would be amazing he would be the best D we have even better than than Theo and bigger: 6’2″ 214 (.72 career pts/game: #8 among active D). Could that be done now like Andersson plus a first plus? Who knows? I would say Larkin is the priority and a bit cheaper.

Werenski, McDavid and Matthews all become free agents after the 2027-28 season and assuming any of them would pick Vegas as their preferred destination you just wait for July 1 and sign any of them providing their plan is to walk, You get any of them for free the worst being to outbid other teams but if they really want to come here not a big issue. All players who are not on a Cup winner want to come to Bill Foley’s VGK.

    • Pistol Pete

Werenski is American a gold medal winner along with Eichel, Hanifin and Larkin. You just know these guys stay in touch with each other like Marner does with Matthews. They are all being told Vegas is where you want to be. McDavid not so sure. If the Oilers can’t win a Cup in the next two years where is would he want to go? Toronto? Who knows? He’s more of an elitist mentality of all of them and might not be good for the locker room. Who really knows? Personally I am lukewarm on his demeanor but that may be unfounded,

      • Pistol Pete

One more thought on Larkin. He’s signed through 2030-31 but when your top player wants out the GM pretty much has to move him. That should make it easier for McCrimmon to make the deal.

        • Pistol Pete

I called Larkin their top player. In fact the much smaller DeBrincat has the top points stats including goal scoring and Lucas Raymond is up there too in points so it’s probably subjective to call Larkin their top player though he is the only center among them. Anyways he does want out is the key.

        • knights fan in minny

it’s not easier for Mccrimmy to make the deal for Larkin Stevie y Is no dummy He will take his time and get the best possible offer

        • TS

Who the heck signs a newbee thru 2031?? Is it his future they are banking on, hoping he pans out? Or just for the Trade game down the road?

  23. rb7

once again, the fly in the ointment is the trade flexibility destroying coming deal for Andersson, and the already hands tying Hill contract.

and that is totally on McCrimmon. HE got the team into these 2 contracts, creating this trade constraint mess, cap mess, and he effin damn well needs to get them out of it pronto.

all he has to do is walk away from mr Staredown
    and
dump Hills contract with a sweetener

  24. knights fan in minny

Gut feeling they will get Jason Robertson West Coast boy wants to go to a winner if Vegas wants to Move some salary cap space Korzak would be no big loss

    • rb7

yes, Korczak and Kolesar are 2 more contracts to move to open up the necessary cap space to make trades.

      • Pistol Pete

And Dowd. His $3m counts towards the cap. He’s entering the final year of his contract.

        Dowd $3m
        Korczak $3.25m
        Kolesar $2.5m
        Total $8.75m
        Less $2.4m HSK replacements = $6.45m

Any or all of Dowd, Korczak, and Kolesar could be part of a Larkin package as well. Throw in Connelly and a first that could even be the deal with no Hertl.

        Larkin is calling the shots.

        • knights fan in minny

Why are you stuck on larkin I would rather have Robertson

          • Pistol Pete

Robertson is about $4m more probably. He is better than Larkin but Larkin is the 2C we could use now considering Karlsson’s health. Karlsson may still be able to play but Larkin is the 2C for the future and should be a good fit with Marner. Yeah it would be wonderful to put Robertson on Eichel’s wing though he plays left and move Stone down to the third keep and Karlsson with Marner health permitting. They may be thinking Robertson more than Larkin can’t say I disagree with you Robertson is that good.

  25. VGK Fan

Looks like the Doro move will free up the cap space to sign Anderson for 8 or 9 million. Just kidding.

  26. Richie-Rich

What a massive roster cluster! I didn’t even realize that we had Jeremy Davies (D), age 30 sitting on the roster taking up $1,150,000 in cap space.

Here’s what I show for roster lines for the upcoming season:

    L1 Stone, Eichel, Barbashev
    L2 Marner, Karlsson, Howden
    L3 Bowman, Hertl, ?????
    L4 Kolesar, Dowd, ?????

    D1 Theodore, Hanifan
    D2 Mcnabb, Andersson
    D3 Korczak, ?????

    G1 Hart
    G2 ?????

  27. We all think we are getting someone big but how would you feel going into next season if we get no one. Because we don’t have any valuable assets. Thanks Mc Crimmy

  28. Richie-Rich

Do you think there is any interest in bringing Hellebuyck to Vegas? He had a superb Olympics in goal with Stone & Eichel. It’s definitely a stretch and Hillbilly would need to move. He’s signed for $8,500,000 through the 2030-31 season and he is 33 years old. That’s definitely a tough decision to make. He would be 38 years old at the end of that contract.

I am not even sure what that trade would look like, but it wouldn’t be cheap. It could involve Hill/Hart or Hill/Schmid, or Hill/Lindbom. Hart, Schmid or Lindbom could be the 2A behind Connor.

Just an interesting thought. I doubt the Jets would gamble on Hill though. This post is a pipe dream.
