As surreal as moments such as the name reveal, jersey unveil, and the Expansion Draft have been for Vegas hockey fans, the ability to finally play a video game with a team actually from Vegas rather than the stock create-a-team might be the most unbelievable of all.
NHL 18 drops on September 15th and EA just released a video surrounding the Expansion Draft and the game’s updated franchise mode.
The game integrates the actual NHL protection lists and allows gamers to either play with the Golden Knights or create a team and bring them to any other city. The game also has a feature that lets fans of other teams go back and submit different protection lists to see how the draft would have changed.
Back in June EA put out this sweet promo video of T-Mobile Arena as well.
September 15th cannot get here soon enough. Hopefully, by then they’ll realize the Golden Knights wear white gloves, not these bogus black ones in the video.
All I know is, if GMGM can find a way to lure Andreas Athanasiou away from Detroit before he signs with the KHL, our “NHL 18” real team will be a lot better. OPA!
I like the white jerseys in real life better than the grey ones, but in this game video the grey looks much better.
Finally, I came around to storm grey after watching this video. I wasn’t even aware that Sagebrush, the Nevada state flower was on the jerseys ….
>either play with the Golden Knights or create a team and bring them to any other city.
Can I create a different team and bring it to Las Vegas?
Just a mention on the gloves….in the game they have the white gloves with the white jerseys and the black gloves with the greys. That might actually be the setup because I think Murray Craven was wearing very similar black and gold gloves in the video of his first skate in the new practice facility. I also saw somebody else wearing black and gold gloves in another video, but I can’t recall which one. I know this is really long winded regarding freakin’ gloves, but I’ve been obsessing over all things VGK and just happened to notice.

I’ve never paid attention to gloves. Is it normal to have two sets of gloves?
I don’t know of any other team that does it….and I’m still not sure that we even are. Just speculation based on the game previews and gloves spotted by those associated with the team.
In one of those videos, Neal’s jersey goes from gray to yellow…That would be awesome if they actually give us a gold jersey down the road when our so-so current jersey loses its new-car smell. Then at least the teams hashtag #BoldInGold would actually mean something. My other thought is I like our gloves black better than white.
