Well, since he tried to help the Cannucks beat us, this makes sense.

  2. Daryl

    Who’s next?

  3. From Vegas, Florida sunshine to Canadian winters now he can hawk snowtires rather than the whole car.

    • Tim

Hdbiker no snow in Vancouver but you better buy an umbrella because it rains like hell. My daughter went to Oregon State and believe me from the Wallamette Valley in Oregon through Washington into British Columbia it’s always raining. On the plus side it is beautiful country.

      • I am from Canada and very familiar with BC and the rest of the country. It gets cold there in winter and yes beautiful. Moisture has a way of creating that scenery. My point being a much different climate than here and Florida. To bad they didn’t send PDB as a bonus for taking him off their hands. Vancouver came very close to taking vegas down so their meeting will be I interesting even with Vegas’s 8.8 mill addition.

Not to toot my own horn (again), but I told y’all we would be keep both MAF and Lehner.

Told y’all statsny and cousins were gonna be let go and we would just resign nosek.

I didn’t initially think we would really be jumping in the Pietrangelo sweepstakes, but it fell into our lap when the other teams signed other guys. Sad to see Schmitty go, but he was a huge liability this playoffs for us. He was on ice for most of the goals. AP is an upgrade, but not worth the long term tag. Can’t believe they gave him a full NMC. I got money that after age 34/35 If he starts sucking they’ll just buy him out.

I fully expect a long ass article by Ken explaining why APs contract was too expensive and not worth the term/money

    • It wasn’t worth the money or term so he (ken) has plenty to write about. I hate to be a wet blanket but this move isn’t going to win the Cup either. Teams win the cup not I individuals. They see.to believe they can buy their way into winning

      • Some charlatan

We replaced a maybe top 50 defenseman for a top 5 defenseman. This is a huge deal.

Hopefully holden is the other guy that goes. I’m 100% happy with that. Bring hague back and we are solid af. Losing any of our top 6 would be devastating.

We now can have petro or theo on the ice for 40 minutes a game. That’s fucking huge. 2 potential norris candidates. One (or both) on the ice for 2/3 of every game. In front of a goalie who has shown he can be a vezina winner.

If we can put the puck in the net, we are fucking set.

        • Daryl

Wait a minute…. so you are saying if they bring Hague up they are set??? Hague was given several chances and couldn’t produce. Maybe give one of the other guys a chance. I don’t like Holden at all and hope he goes also, but he is better than Hague.

And Schmidt is better than top 50 and I would question whether Pietra is top 5, more like top 10. But is he worth two players or more like 3 players? VGK got rid of Patches, Schmidt and will need to get rid of one more to pay Pietra

          • Walt

they did not trade Pacioretty. unless you call Stastny “patches”

so stop the bs about trades that were never made

          • Daryl

Walt…. for some reason I cannot respond to you directly.

My apologies for accidently typing the wrong name. I think this is the 2nd time I’ve done that. BUT it still does not chance the point of my post. So unless you have something constructive to say, get lost

      • Walt

yes, and the captain of the team that won the cup last year is Pietrangelo.

he was 4th in Norris trophy voting this year as well.

name for us 1 dman in the vgk farm system who is going to be anywhere close to a dominant player as Petro. Hague, Coghlan, Korzcak, etc ???? laughable

        • Daryl

Problem is it cost VGK possibly 3 starters to get Pietra and I don’t know if he is worth it. VGK is still over the cap and needs to find room and I don’t think they can do it without trading another player. It appears to me that VGK is hoping Hague or Coghlan can play like Whitecloud did because without that, they will be screwed. And they still don’t have a player who can move a Forward out from in front of the goalie or win board battles. Pietra is big but he is SOFT!

    • Tim

What’s this not to toot my horn bull-shit Ken and I have been arguing for month’s about the goalie situation. I said we should keep both and Ken said we couldn’t afford both it looks like I may be right. Moral of the story never get to full of yourself it will come back to bite ya.

      • They still can’t afford both and keeping them both is a MASSIVE mistake if they do it into the playoffs.

        • Tim

Ken this point we always disagree on. I like two good goalies like having good pitching in baseball which I’ve expressed to you many times. If there’s a condensed schedule playing more games in a week it makes perfect sense to me. You have a different philosophy and I respect your opinion. Like I’ve said before I believe Colorado is our best competition and winning the Pacific with the best record in the West keeps us away from them until the Western finals.

      • Daryl

Of course they can keep them. Both… When you give away players for nothing like they did with Patches and Schmidt. They still have to give away a few players.

  5. VGK2020

Radulov outmuscled Schmidt in front of the net, and Pietrangelo outmuscled Nate for his spot on the team.

    • Daryl

Pietra hasn’t outmuscled anyone ever…. I like the guy but you won’t get him moving anyone from in front of the net

  6. Capology

    question for McCrimPhee.

why help a team in your own division?

    question for Wpg and Fla

what made you back out of the trade for Schmidt? he went for peanuts in return, and maybe that’s why, because the Canucks had no competition in the end, so they called all the shots

  7. Sullivan

Division trading a guy who could have easily gotten a 1st and more FOR ONLY A FREAKING 3RD?????? Kelly McCrimmon and George McPhee are IDIOTS. They just gave Canucks the guy they desperately needed for NOTHING.

    • Tyler Durden

“Division trading a guy who could have easily gotten a 1st and more “
      Link?

      • Tim

Tyler, trading in the division was a shock but with a 5.9 cap hit were lucky to get a third round pick and not have to carry part of Nate’s salary.

    • Gold jerseys

Isles just traded dman Devon Toews, unsigned RFA, and nothing special 2nd pairing guy, to Colo for TWO 2nd round picks

  8. I love Nate but you have to be nuts to think he’s worth a first round pick.

    • Tim

Jason, your right these other posters are in La La land if the think Vancouver would take the complete cap hit and give us a first. I’m happy and surprised we got a third.

    • Daryl

A first round no… But definately a 2nd round. Problem is VGK is screwed right now and have to give players away… And they aren’t done

  9. Tim

Ken I couldn’t reply to you above so here goes. Two quarterbacks how about Joe Montana and Steve Young they kind of worked together and quite a few Super Bowls granted it’s rare, We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

    • Daryl

You can’t really compare your QBs or your Pitchers to hockey goalies…. Maybe if you took a rookie goalie and MAF or something like that but your other comparisons aren’t even close

  10. SummerlinAndyB

    Nice work Ken!
Way to get em worked up.

Business as usual, rules the day.
This isn’t a prom dance, sponsored by Bill Foley.

  11. It bothers me, losing Schmidt for a used Jock strap, he’s worth so much more, but they needed to clear Cap space. I don’t like the move at all, we threw away 2 guys for chicken feed. I love Fluery, but he was the guy that was expendable, not Schmidt and Stastny. I will be following that 3rd round pick, because we lost a great player, a clutch guy, a team guy. This Petrangelo guy better produce, otherwise we all will be upset. I’m not paying $200 a ticket to see our asses get kicked. I’m questioning some moves, but what the hell do I know, but this doesn’t feel right, something missing here.

  12. I

If someone wanted a #1 and #2 for Flurey and his 7M we should have given it to them. Say what you want about Schmidt, but keeping 7M of dead money for a player that’s not going to play very much seems like just a wasted opportunity. It’s their own fault. Would you rather have Schmidt and Pietrangelo, or just Pietrangelo? I don’t get it.

  14. The 5 mill walrus is having shoulder surgery and the season hasn’t even started yet. Interesting and now kelly has announced they will have two goalies – the walrus a d MAF.

I wonder how our boy PDB feels about that

  15. Walt

hey Ken, you should ask that commenter who is “patches”?

he keeps saying that they traded “patches”, “they gave him away for nothing”

since when did Stastny change his name to “patches”

    • Yeah I don’t understand that. Patches is definitely Pacioretty.

      • Daryl

        Ken,
He’s obviously talking about me where twice (maybe a 3rd time) I said Patches instead of Stastny. I already told him I made the mistake yet he wants to be a smartass and bring it up again.

    • Daryl

You are SOOOO clever!!!!!!!! I already admitted that I made that mistake 2 or 3 times. Yes I said Patches instead of Stastny. You’ve brought it up once and I already admitted to it so not sure your point of bringing it up again. You are pretty much just wasting everyone’s time by having to read your same crap over and over again.

  16. Walt

Ken, also, weigh in on this.

Do you think that it would be collusion if the NHL owners came to a gentleman’s agreement to NOT give contracts longer than 3 years from here on in due to the current uncertain economic climate for sports, especially the NHL which depends on gate revenue. Foley said he might lose $125 million if there are no fans next season.
