I am from Canada and very familiar with BC and the rest of the country. It gets cold there in winter and yes beautiful. Moisture has a way of creating that scenery. My point being a much different climate than here and Florida. To bad they didn’t send PDB as a bonus for taking him off their hands. Vancouver came very close to taking vegas down so their meeting will be I interesting even with Vegas’s 8.8 mill addition.

I didn’t initially think we would really be jumping in the Pietrangelo sweepstakes, but it fell into our lap when the other teams signed other guys. Sad to see Schmitty go, but he was a huge liability this playoffs for us. He was on ice for most of the goals. AP is an upgrade, but not worth the long term tag. Can’t believe they gave him a full NMC. I got money that after age 34/35 If he starts sucking they’ll just buy him out.
I fully expect a long ass article by Ken explaining why APs contract was too expensive and not worth the term/money

We replaced a maybe top 50 defenseman for a top 5 defenseman. This is a huge deal.
Hopefully holden is the other guy that goes. I’m 100% happy with that. Bring hague back and we are solid af. Losing any of our top 6 would be devastating.
We now can have petro or theo on the ice for 40 minutes a game. That’s fucking huge. 2 potential norris candidates. One (or both) on the ice for 2/3 of every game. In front of a goalie who has shown he can be a vezina winner.

And Schmidt is better than top 50 and I would question whether Pietra is top 5, more like top 10. But is he worth two players or more like 3 players? VGK got rid of Patches, Schmidt and will need to get rid of one more to pay Pietra

Problem is it cost VGK possibly 3 starters to get Pietra and I don’t know if he is worth it. VGK is still over the cap and needs to find room and I don’t think they can do it without trading another player. It appears to me that VGK is hoping Hague or Coghlan can play like Whitecloud did because without that, they will be screwed. And they still don’t have a player who can move a Forward out from in front of the goalie or win board battles. Pietra is big but he is SOFT!

Ken this point we always disagree on. I like two good goalies like having good pitching in baseball which I’ve expressed to you many times. If there’s a condensed schedule playing more games in a week it makes perfect sense to me. You have a different philosophy and I respect your opinion. Like I’ve said before I believe Colorado is our best competition and winning the Pacific with the best record in the West keeps us away from them until the Western finals.

It bothers me, losing Schmidt for a used Jock strap, he’s worth so much more, but they needed to clear Cap space. I don’t like the move at all, we threw away 2 guys for chicken feed. I love Fluery, but he was the guy that was expendable, not Schmidt and Stastny. I will be following that 3rd round pick, because we lost a great player, a clutch guy, a team guy. This Petrangelo guy better produce, otherwise we all will be upset. I’m not paying $200 a ticket to see our asses get kicked. I’m questioning some moves, but what the hell do I know, but this doesn’t feel right, something missing here.

If someone wanted a #1 and #2 for Flurey and his 7M we should have given it to them. Say what you want about Schmidt, but keeping 7M of dead money for a player that’s not going to play very much seems like just a wasted opportunity. It’s their own fault. Would you rather have Schmidt and Pietrangelo, or just Pietrangelo? I don’t get it.

Do you think that it would be collusion if the NHL owners came to a gentleman’s agreement to NOT give contracts longer than 3 years from here on in due to the current uncertain economic climate for sports, especially the NHL which depends on gate revenue. Foley said he might lose $125 million if there are no fans next season.
