I feel like that has been the number everyone has said for at least a month now. Certainly, that is what I thought it would be, before Kaprizov destroyed the MIN franchise with his fleecing of their front office. So it must have all depended on McDavid. McDavid gave a home team discount and that probably saved the 13.5 number for Eichel.

All in all, not a terrible deal and will look much better with time as the salary cap increases….. Here’s hoping that Jack can stay at an elite level for the 8 year term (and healthy too!).

That’s a nice number for Jack. He’s worth more especially as the cap will keep going up but I’m sure he knows in the interest of cap space especially for 2026-27 this is a move that is looking out for his team. As I have been pointing out this will leave around just $5.5m for Pav assuming all of the free agents are extended for around current money. McCrimmon will make it work including finding a way to get #16 his $8m let’s say. He has a hat trick on opening night with one period to play! It’s a long season and Pav needs playoffs results. We’ll just have to see what happens.
