2020 was a year filled with boredom. Boredom often leads to wacky, ridiculous, completely superfluous ideas. One day during quarantine I become obsessed with the concept of NFLScorigami and trying to find a way to bring it to the game of hockey. Of course, since every score is pretty much somewhere between 1-0 and 10-9, there really weren’t enough scores to do that. So, I looked towards something that has a slightly larger sample size. And that’s where I came to…
Time!
Every time a player scores a goal in a hockey game, the exact time in which that goal is scored is recorded. I thought to myself, I wonder how often goals are scored at the exact same second as other goals. So, like any bored blogger would do, I went back over every single goal in Vegas Golden Knight history to find out. With it came the birth of VGK Horology.
The word “horology” means the study and measurement of time. VGK Horology is the study of when the Vegas Golden Knights score goals.
An NHL hockey game is 60 minutes long, which breaks down to 3,600 seconds. We are counting until a Golden Knight scores on exactly every single one of them. (Well, technically since 20:00, 40:00, and 60:00 are impossible and the first five seconds of each period are incredibly rare, so we have reduced the number to 3,582 seconds.)
Each time a Golden Knight scores on a unique second in the game, the goal is deemed a “Horogoal.” Horogoals are only counted in the regular season and during regulation.
We’ve set up a Twitter account that has been backlogged with every goal ever scored by the Golden Knights (in the regular season) and will be updating it with every goal scored from here on out.
So far there have been 649 Horogoals scored over the first 235 Golden Knights games. That leaves 2,933 more until VGK Horology is complete.

By the grace of the Gods and my lucky stars, I’m still kicking.
It’s been right at 100 days since I last posted here. Not much has changed. Still have a number of whiners, complainers and just crazy comments here. But I am determined to grit my teeth and ignor all that.
I will concentrate on those that coment with sane, positive thoughts and back the Knights as TRUE fans do. It is a miricle to me to still be here and get to root the Knights on to another shot at the cup! It should be a very interesting new season. Getting to play all our Div teams 8 times. Wow!
My hopes are that we back our coach, our players and especially whomever is in goal on any given night! We need everyone to play well. Just one thing left to say:

Doc glad to see you back sounding pretty chipper. Being a positive fan is a good thing but at times criticism is necessary. 2020 was a rough year for all of us so let’s hope 2021 get’s back to normal.

Thanks Tim, appreciate it. As far as criticism. Of course there is always that. In certain cases and times it can make a change. But here, not so much. When used here it just seems to promote more negativity and chaos and not much more. The Knights organization, GMs, coach, players etc… are going to do whatever they want. Nothing we say here is going to change that. I would much more like to see concentration on the positive things this team does and not tear down things. it helps nothing, IMO.

With this new to the second scoring tracking, it will be interesting to see the second the Knights score the most. I can hear the announcers now: ” Watch out fans, it’s 13:23 in the second period, and we know the time is getting close to when the Knights are most dangerous, at 13:12.”

How about Smith ? Makes less money than Stone or pietr but gives it all each and every shift and a case could be made he is equal to Stone and in some cases better. No l am not on his payroll nor his PR man. Just a hockey nut for many many years and a fairly good judge of talent humbly speaking. Happy New Year every one.

I agree with you… I’ve said it should be him from the start (unless they gave it yo Engo for day). He works harder than Stone, has a more level head and he never takes a shift off.
