The Golden Knights were heading out of town for the upcoming four game road trip against Nashville, Tampa Bay, Florida, and Calgary. So, the team sent out these quotes from Engelland.

Thoughts on signing a one-year extension…

Super excited. From the expansion draft to signing one year, that’s your goal going in, to get an extension. For me to be able to play another year here at home, that’s a dream come true. -Engelland

Thoughts on how special this season has been for you, the whole experience…

Amazing, the summer has been a whirlwind with everything th3at was going on and stuff. Settling in with the guys here. We’ve got a great group and that goes a long way, right from the top down. I’m excited to be here, to be a part of this team for another year with the guys. -Engelland

Thoughts on when GM George McPhee approached you and said ‘we want to talk about an extension’ and your first reaction…

I was excited, like I said that’s your goal going into the season. Especially on a UFA is to get something done sooner rather than later. I’m getting a little older now and to be able to stay here at home and play another year, that’s your whole goal going into the season and I couldn’t be more happy. -Engelland

Thoughts on the locker room and how the team has played thus far…

I think right from the get-go we gelled together as a team. We’ve got a lot of character in that room, great leaders, great young guys coming up. Every night when we’re playing, we’re 20 men deep and everyone’s going. If someone’s not contributing, someone’s picking up the slack. It’s a team effort, it’s been fun and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season here. -Engelland

Solid move by GMGM to solidify not just the blue line, but the culture in the room. Way to go, Engo !! #wearevegasstrong

  2. Brian Lawrence

Great they signed him. But a one year deal?
I see retirement on the horizon.

He is turning 36 soon. Better to keep signing one year deals than a long term and get killed cap wise if he drops off due to age.
