I think it's overblown. Cassidy sticks with lines that work, he changes ones that can't get the job done. He doesn't shuffle lines just for the fun of it.
Don't believe me? Read: https://sinbin.vegas/does-cassidy-mix-up-his-forward-lines-too-often-part-2/
@SinBinVegas Im tired of all the trade talks for now. Im not a fan of all the line shuffling. It clearly hasn’t helped the scoring issues. What do you think?
The window to win a Cup this season is closed.
It's not closed for the next few years. As long as Pietrangelo is still good (which he is), the retool can happen instantly and they can win. It's not as wide open as it once was. It will take a perfect combination of moves.
@SinBinVegas If you are looking to hold/sell are you implying the window has closed? Do you want them to blow it up and build around specific players, or do you think there is a way to re-tool and remain competitive?
I'd be surprised if they traded Martinez away at this deadline. During the offseason, I could definitely see him being a cap casualty.
They'll definitely be looking to buy wingers, both now and in the summer.
@SinBinVegas Any chance that Martinez gets moved and we sign multiple wingers?
Every 1st or 2nd round pick they spend will be costly down the road.
My bigger concern is going further into cap hell and having to do another sell-off this summer. The cycle of buying assets at full cost, and then selling them for nothing has to stop.
@SinBinVegas If they buy, the few assets they have will be gone. When the end of this “run” comes and they sell, they will be sooo bad for so long… ?? will the fall out weight the rise (yr 1)?
If he plans on coming back and playing, it's going to have to be for VGK, at least at the start. Can't see another team stepping up before they know he's capable of being the Robin Lehner of old.
VGK's best bet is him returning to his old form though. If he can, that's huge.
@SinBinVegas Is there any team in the NHL that will take Lehner off our hands after this season?
