Today, the Golden Knights gathered at the White House to meet the President of the United States, Joe Biden. It’s an age-old tradition dating back to the 1800s for the champion of each league to gather at the White House and present a jersey to the President.

President Joe Biden and Captain Mark Stone entered the East Room of the White House to the familiar tune of “Hail To The Chief.” The President was impressed that the Stanley Cup had also made the trip while Golden Knights fans were equally excited about Reilly Smith’s appearance.
Just six years ago the idea of a championship team playing in Vegas desert, I mean think about this, who would have thunk it, seemed like a pipe dream. But the team ownership had faith predicting a playoff run in three years and a Stanley Cup in six, I’ve got to talk to him because the polling data I’m not paying as much attention to. -Joe Biden
Following President Biden’s speech, Stone stood behind the podium donning the presidential seal and admitted it’s harder to deliver a speech than it is to play hockey in front of 20,000 fans.
It’s an honor to speak on behalf of my teammates, the whole organization, and the city of Las Vegas which is of course an amazing city, it’s the entertainment capital of the world, I say that with all due respect to Delaware, Mr. President. -Mark Stone
The Golden Knights then presented President Biden with a jersey and a golden hockey stick.
You’re proving in Vegas sports is one of the best shows in town. But you are also proving something else about sports, like all great franchises you give back to the community. For Vegas, for Nevada, and for all of us, thank you for shining and sharing that light. You are Vegas Born, you are Vegas Strong and congratulations again. -Biden
