This season (and each of the last two postseasons) the Golden Knights have struggled to score goals when playing against a compact defensive setup.
In today’s film breakdown, we show a single shift that displays some good aspects of what Vegas is doing in-zone and quite a few bad ones.
The Golden Knights have been struggling to score anywhere but off the rush.
In this video breakdown, I illustrate why they've had so little success in the offensive zone against a compact defense. pic.twitter.com/hP7InS2Rgd

NEWS: The #NHL notified the KHL on Monday that it has officially severed all ties and communication with Russia’s top hockey league.
The MOU between the leagues has been suspended, which will make signing Russian free agents a little trickier.
Time to hold Russian NHL players accountable , like Alex Olechkin , who refuse to call a spade a spade, and putin= hitler. There is no place in NHL for Putin apologists or putin marginalization.
Herby Widmer
There is no place for war in the NHL. Sport should UNITE NOT SEPARATE!
THE hockey GOD
Tell it to NHL, they made the call.
Ever been to hockey game ? There is war on ice in nearly every game.
as long as Russians are involved, politics will always be in sports
whether you like it
or
NOT
Daryl
We should keep politics out of hockey
Scott Davis
Absolutely agree. No place for a Putin worshiper in the NHL. Time for Alex to go home to Russia
Jim White
Well there’s always Thomas Hertl who should be available from these sharks
THE hockey GOD
White
Sharks are working very hard to
keep him in San Jose.

That’s fantastic Work. Thank you for putting on display what a lot of us have been seeing. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but should it not be that difficult to correct this. Isn’t this just a systems thing? Why in the hell is Howden going to the front of the net and everybody else cycling the perimeter?
I can admit I am not the smartest guy so those aren’t really difficult questions that I am asking.
Julie
Tonight’s game will be interesting. Every team has slumps, off days, etc due to injury, lack of chemistry, lack of skill, etc. Hopefully, something breaks through with the game tonight.
Daryl
If it isn’t that difficult, then why is VGK having such a hard time with it???
Galdom
I DO NOT KNOW.

The Polish government on Tuesday said it is ready to “immediately” deploy its entire fleet of MiG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. air base in Germany, giving Washington the chance to then send the planes to Ukrainian forces.
“After consultations between the President and the Government,” Poland is “ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MIG-29 jets to the Ramstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America,” Poland said in a statement.

Putin’s attacks on civilians raise pressure on US, NATO
“The Polish Government also requests other NATO Allies – owners of MIG-29 jets – to act in the same vein.”
The transfer of the Soviet-era fighter jets is notable as Ukraine for days has pleaded with Western officials to help it counter the brutal Russian assault on the country with either a “no-fly zone” over its airspace or the transfer of aircraft that Ukrainian pilots could fly.
–Developing, Crazy face Putin isn’t going to like this at all. Poland is trying to stay out of it. They are getting new jets for this move, from USA. They should have kept his all hush hush, but no.
Julie
The Chancellory of Poland’s Prime Minister came out on 3/6 and said they won’t send it’s fighter jets to the Ukraine. Effectively calling US SOS Blinken a liar. It’s on Twitter as well as other places refuting the US claim.
Rising gas prices were in place before the Russians invaded Ukraine due to the administration’s green energy policies. Also affecting inflation and supply chain issues. Since there are no plans to open our own pipeline or tap into our own resources and be energy independent like we were over a year ago, it will all get worse here on out. Even electric vehicles need oil.
But hockey is a place to go get away from all the pain of real life, what’s left of it.

Strange, how a sports journalist can analyze this and point out the VGK’s flawed offensive approach. But Pete can’t?
I though Kelly said Turk was not the Moses to lead Vegas to the Cup. Pete’s gotten then no closer. Time to close the book on DeBoer?
THE hockey GOD
@Carl
At least Push Button Pete knows that a time out exists, per the rules. And he uses it. Unlike the prior coach who coaches in the same era that he played, that is to say they probably didn’t have time outs when he was growing up
“the timeout was introduced to the game in 1983, coaches have used it for their own purposes rather than its design. Originally, according to former players and coaches, the timeout was implemented to allow a team to pull its goaltender near the end of a game and dole out some last-minute strategy.”
Daryl
How many times has PDB called a TO late in the game when the team goes on the PP… And then out of those time, how many was it effective?
Did PDB use a TO against COL when VGK had a chance to win the conference but they lost giving up 6 goals?
Carl
Well @HG the proof is in the Cup. Turk got to a final and Pete not as many. No Cup this season combined with failures like Montreal and Dallas and goodbye Pete. Foley’s runnin’ out of time…

Philly tonight anyone have a feel for the game I don’t. Obviously Calgary and Colorado like to put there best foot forward every night the Knights not so much. I dread when we go on a PP it just takes us out of the rhythm of the game if by chance we have any rhythm that particular night.
Galdom
I have a bad feeling that they’re gonna be down 2-0 after the first period.
Carl
I had a bad feeling going in now its 2-0 Philly. Ken’s Bumslayers are back in town.
