Per TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Golden Knights have sent Cody Eakin to the Winnipeg Jets for a conditional 4th round pick.

The Golden Knights confirmed the trade shortly after the news broke on Twitter.

No salary was retained in this transaction. The move clears $3.85 million in cap space for the Golden Knights potentially making way for another move in the near future.

GM Kelly McCrimmon is expected to speak to the media about the trade tomorrow after morning skate.

This article will be updated as more information becomes available.

What does the bottom 6 look like with Glass and Tuch out?

Jesper Fast of NYR would be a good pickup. He is a good PK forward. $1.85m

Been waiting for this news almost all season. Unfortunate timing of Glass and Tuch injuries, but for what was being paid almost anyone would be better.

Cody Eakin will be missed. He gave his heart and soul for almost 3 years to the Golden Knights. While he might have been paid more than most wanted to give him, he earned his keep.

When I saw him with extended power play time last night I was breaking out in a rash. I guess he was being showcased in case somehow he managed to score a goal. We’ll likely be seeing him in the playoffs, and the rash will develop again if he scores against us. Much desired cap move.

    • Well everyone you got your wish, pat yourselves on the back. Remember what goes around comes around and knights play jets and eakin scores some goals – poetic justices. I wonder if you will be patting yourselves on the back then when jets knock off the knights. Be careful what you wish for!!!!!

I know this sounds insane, but it would interesting to have Theodore with Stephenson and Carrier on 3rd line. Roy Nosek and Reaves on 4th. Bring up Hague or Whitecloud as 6th D. But I’m guessing Zykov or Pirri comes up.

It doesnt sound insane. Theodore is an offensive player. He has the skills to play wing without question. Another without question statement is that his defensive abilities are atrocious. It would make perfect sense to put him up there. Much more so than John Merrill.

      • Shea could probably do it but the insane part is considering moving your best defensemen away from the position he plays best. It would also be insane to move a 23 minute per game guy to a spot where he’d be hard pressed to get 13.

2 second round picks for an aging 32 year old Alex Martinez. We get 1 fourth rounder (conditional) for cody eakin? Wow…..

This trade does not make any sense… Unless they’re clearing cap space for another addition.

    • Maybe you read be careful what you wish for all posts wanted eakin gone one way or another. Very poor timing with tuck out etc. If anyone checked his stats they were better than some remainders. Hope it is not a trade the knights regret.

Well it’s Saturday morning no trade updates but were all waiting to see the next move. Will they trade Holden or Merrill to acquire more cap space. We need another D-Man and a third line forward who can put the puck in the net. I think Cody Glass and Alex Tuch are china dolls to many injuries for two young guys. They may both be shut down for the season.
