Career Highs Set In 2024-25

(Photo Credit: SinBin.vegas Photographer Brandon Andreasen)

After the mass exodus of free agents last summer, the main question for the Golden Knights was how would they replace the scoring that was lost. The answer, at least in the regular season, was that many players had career years. Six different Golden Knights set or matched their career high in goals in 2024-25. In fact, career highs were fairly common for Vegas last year in many different offensive categories.

Here’s a rundown of every career-high set by VGK regulars last season.

    Breaking
    Speaking of career highs

Yesterday broke ground at home plate, ex Tropicana Hotel and Casino site, for future Las Vegas (A;s?) ball park. A 33,000 capacity venue, the smallest in baseball, but likely the largest ticket prices and Hebrew National Hot Dog prices in all of MLB. Timmah will be liking this story and can’t wait to see his beloved Indians get their heinies trashed by up and coming A’s (the Las Vegas Aviators won their division for first half and are in the playoffs this year, and season is half way over)!

At least there wont be much traffic in the area…..oh wait……

    Re: the article.

Something that is worrying me is the likelihood of regression, I think Goals scored will drop sharply and with it those balloned up assist totals.

Excepting Doro & Vegas Vic theres too many pass first guys, Id keep Olofsson for 2/$4.5 (tax exempt).

  3. Pistol Pete

Notion seems to be how much better LT is than Hill. 2024-25 think again. Not earth shattering difference not really.

    LT: 31-6-6 (2.49/.911)
    Hill: 32-13-5 (2.47/.907)

I am not arguing the stats. I am making the point that a starter does not lose his job due to injury. That’s a universal given in all professional sports. This franchise dumped the Vezina winner for the Lizard Whisperer. That mental case was doomed to fail from the get go, a proven bad choice on numerous other hockey clubs. I know there are Fleury Haters on this forum, but the best outcome would have been to allow Thompson to grow under the tutelage of a mature Vezina winner. Who needs a goalie coach when you have a future hall of famer on the team! No one is going to change my mind when it comes to how poorly the Golden Knights have managed the crease position.

      • Emmanuel

Rank our all time top 5 goalies, your opinion on the matter would be interesting.

      • John Baylis

I agree to a point Love Fluery but his age was the issue Samsonov did nothing Thompson would have learned and progressed under Fleury tutelage And hill seemed off balance all season

I said on hockey radio and I wi say it again Hill was awful one on one Look at out OT record

  4. Richie-Rich

No one on the current VGK roster is capable of complimenting Jack Eichel. Too often Jack Eichel is in position to make a stellar pass — to no one, and in the rare occasion that someone is they are simply incapable of handling the pass.

When I say no one on the team, I mean no one. That includes Stone, Dorofeyev, Barbashev, Howden, or anyone else.

Bring in Marner. Make it work.

    • Pistol Pete

It stands to reason Marner and Eichel will complement each other, first by increasing Eichel’s goal scoring and he can already score. Marner too. Eichel will set him up. They are both elite defensively. Stands to be the best PK duo ever even better than Karlsson and Smith. Marner very good on the PP as well. Any process that involves handling the puck Marner excels at like Eichel.

      • Emmanuel

Then you have 3 good RW & 1 good LW.
        Also Eichel should shoot more.

    • NAM

Regular season Marner will be great, but he, as well as half of this team, will disappear during the playoffs. I don’t want a 13 million dollar guy that disappears when checking gets tight and space gets hard to come by. That is not a recipe for success. Florida is built for the playoff game and they got guys that elevate when the game gets hard. There is no doubt why they put up back to back SC’s. I just don’t see how putting another weak ass playoff guy in our mix is going to achieve another cup. Maybe a Pacific div winner participation trophy, but not a cup.

  5. Pistol Pete

So in your view McCrimmon faulted by failing to make LT the starter 2023-24 because he was starter before Hill 2022-23? Given Hill won the Cup, his contract was expiring, and LT had two years left on his ELC, should McCrimmon not have extended Hill? If you think it should have been done differently you need to propose a solution. Offer Hill less money so he walks? What?

I have said before McCrimmon more than likely wanted LT to stick around the whole two years so both his and Hill’s term expire simultaneously and possibly choose LT over Hill but LT asked for a trade. I guess you may never convince me McCrimmon fucked up.

Cassidy played them about equal 2023-24 in fact LT played more. What more did you want?

    LT: 25-14-5 (2.70/.908)
    Hill: 19-12-2 (2.71/.909)

    • Pistol Pete

So in going back over your post nobody can argue Lehner is a move that failed. They saw MAF as entering his twilight plus his contract was fat. Lehner was not a good choice in retrospect. Get your point: let LT run out his term under MAF. Problem is no Hill no Cup everything else being equal. LT was injured too. My points on how to
handle Hill and LT stand though.

      • Emmanuel

It was our depth that won the Cup not Hill!

        Just kidding!

      • Personally I still harken back to after the time we won the Cup, when the beer flowed, spirits were high and money was being thrown around…Barbashev and Hill….I still think the right moves were made at that time and holds true today.

Even though Barbashev was overpaid it made sense as he was…and still is lol…5 years younger than Smith, but was rewarded handsomely.

Certainly Hill was vastly overpaid, but again was completely understandable as he was the conquering hero, I still believe a reason for the contract was to keep him from signing with the $)&(/ oilers during that off season.

Anyone else hear the rumor of hertel to Carolina

  7. Pistol Pete

23 year-old center. Bit of a pain in the ass round one. Could be eligible for an offer sheet July 1.

    Per Google AI:

Marco Rossi is widely considered a potential top-six center in the NHL. While some question his long-term fit as a top-line center for the Minnesota Wild, there’s strong consensus that he can be a valuable contributor in a top-six role for most teams. He is a skilled, young center with potential for offensive growth, and his play style is seen as a good fit for teams looking for a balance of skill and physicality.
Here’s a more detailed look at why Rossi is viewed as a top-six caliber player:
    Offensive Potential:
Rossi has shown consistent offensive growth, improving his point totals from 40 to 60 points in the last two seasons, according to NHL.com and Hockey Wilderness. He’s also a capable playmaker and can find open space on the ice.
    Physicality and Forechecking:
Rossi is known for his strong forechecking ability, relying on his speed and aggressive play along the boards. This aspect of his game is particularly appealing to teams looking for players who can win battles in the “dirty areas”.
    Adaptability:
Rossi’s game allows him to be versatile, and he can potentially play on a team’s top line or in a more supporting role, according to a YouTube video.
    Contract Disagreements:
Despite his potential, Rossi’s contract negotiations with the Wild have stalled, leading to speculation about a potential trade. The Wild are reportedly seeking a lower AAV (average annual value) and shorter term than Rossi’s camp is seeking.
    Trade Interest:
Several teams, including the Vancouver Canucks, have been linked to Rossi in trade rumors, indicating a strong market for his services.

    • Emmanuel

+ : He takes a lot of shots and is young. posssion metrics are really good.
      – : Itll take a lot to pry him away. That shot % is unsustainable.

      • Pistol Pete

Just an offer sheet beginning July1. Apparently MIN is not offering him enough whatever that may be. Teams that give up a player to an offer sheet receive a draft pick the rank of which is based on the amount of the offer. Younger, much younger, faster and cheaper than Hertl but no where near the size and strength.

        • Emmanuel

Dont teams usually work out a side deal instead or is that changing due to the cap? The pick compensation chart seems slim unless you go over 4.9ish $.

  8. JB

This is a fun time of the year with all the ideas flying around. But is exhausting . Can’t wait for July 1, when I guess real shit can happens, ha ha

    • Emmanuel

      There are no sacred cows.

Id trade Eichel/Hertl/Hague is a split second for McDavid, and I dont even think hes the best player in the league!

      • Pistol Pete

I’m really not sure McDavid can win a cup anywhere he plays. Does not strike me as much of a leader. Not a good move to trade Eichel.

        • Emmanuel

Eichel is awesome but its all downhill (with some season to season variance) from here, father time is undefeated.

        • VGK fan

Yes agreed they need someone like Marner who has lead teams to the Stanley Cup Finals in back to back years..

    • knights fan in minny

With the draft this week and free agency starting next week it’s tough to wait to see what the squad will do the The rumors are flying crazy

  9. JB

IF … Petro IS going on LTIR, then I can see them going strong for Marner. Otherwise no.

    • Emmanuel

Even with Marner they will be thin at LW & no Pietro & maybe Hague, thats a 5 deep blueline so keep Hague?

Next 10 days hopefully makes up for the crappy deadline…

  10. Tim

I guess you hockey geeks already know it looks like Mitch ain’t that a Bitch Marner to Vegas and were sending Hertl to Carolina to make room. I wasn’t that big on Marner because of his new contract but I never thought Hertl was that good and he’s a little chunky in my opinion and of coarse my opinion is the only one that counts. At least Marner isn’t ready for Social Security like Stone and Petro are which is a good thing. I wonder who we’ll get from Carolina in the trade?

    • Emmanuel

Most people would say Fleury was the nicest Knight but I think its Hertl, almost a manchild. That being said the locker room entrance should be a revolving door, think late 70s Yankees……

  11. Vic

These articles are nice to keep things interesting, but the stats mean almost nothing. Need tougher guys and help for Jack to help win playoff series two, three and four. Marchy knows he blew it by leaving and the VGK miss his energy and scoring of course. Alec Martinez shot blocking sorely missed. Goaltending issue will stick around like a bad virus.

    • NAM

Hertl has a *3 team* trade list. I think any rumors about him will be shit and VGK odds of trading him are, clearly, very slim.

  12. Pistol Pete

I can’t see him trading Hertl as a cap dump because they would need to replace him. Barbashev makes sense as a cap clearing move. Hertl would need to be replaced with a center such as Marco Rossi. Given his age (23) and an offer sheet of $5.5m (give up a pick) that could actually work. Hertl might get a first round pick plus rumor was 22 year-old talented (30+ pt seasons UMass) big body D Scott Morrow. If Petro is on LTIR the D corp could use an add. Nice theory nothing more.
