5 Most Anticipated Road Games

As the reigning champions, every single road game this season will be a special occasion for the opposition. No matter how things are going, the Golden Knights will be a measuring stick game for every single team. Of the 41 road games this year, here are the five I’m looking forward to most.

5) November 14th, 2023 at Washington

The game itself is not all that exciting, or at least on paper it’s not. But, the Golden Knights have three days off before this game so it will almost certainly be their chance to visit the White House.

Politics aside, it’s always been a really neat tradition to see the champions of each league make the visit. It typically results in a funny comment or two from the sitting president and a chance to see the players a bit out of their element.

4) December 23rd, 2023 at Florida

One of the most memorable games in Golden Knights history was when the Capitals came to town the season after beating Vegas in the Cup Final. The emotion in the building was tremendous and there were expectedly some scores to settle from the series.

We all know the Golden Knights were clearly the better team and they really don’t have much to prove against the Panthers, but the same can’t be said for Florida. They’ll be buzzing in that game, which should make for a rare high-intensity regular season afternoon game in December.

3) January 10th, 2024 at Colorado

Remember how the Golden Knights felt after watching the Avalanche raise the Cup in 2022? Well, that same “we’re better than them” feeling is likely pulsating through the Avs this season.

Like VGK last season, Colorado has something to prove this year and there’s no better team to prove it against than the Golden Knights. When it comes to high-level, highly-skilled hockey games, this one should be one of the best of the year.

2) November 28th, 2023 at Edmonton

Since the Sharks fell into the pits of despair, we’ve been waiting for a rivalry to pop back up for the Golden Knights. After that playoff series, we’ve got one now. This is the first meeting of the season and there’s no doubt each team will want to send a message to the other.

If there’s one game on the schedule this season both of these teams really want to win, it’s this one.

1) January 1st, 2024 at Seattle (Winter Classic)

It’s much more about the pageantry of the event than it is about the hockey game. New gear and jerseys, pregame ceremonies, intermission concerts, you name it, the NHL rolls it all out for their signature event of the season.

The first outdoor game didn’t go so well for the Golden Knights, hopefully, this one is much more celebratory.

As I mentioned a few days ago, the EC teams will play the Knights much tougher now. I think the Knights were overlooked quite a bit when they went east to play. Not anymore. I hope our fans realize that our boys will have to earn their points this year.

    • Robert E.

Any team that overlooks another team dsserves to lose. But EC teams didnt overlooknthe Knights. They were e pected to be top 3 in the West, and they beat Boston in OT, Carolina, and had a ridiculous winning percentage on the road all season. If U really think all thosebteams lost to the Knights because they overlooked them, U didnt watch the games.

      • Jailbird

Whatever Robert. You sound so decisive and forceful. Surely you must be right. After all I couldn’t be right, eh! Did I say ALL those teams lost from overlooking the Knights. No I didn’t. Again, read and understand what someone is saying. Thank you so much, Robert!

  2. Anand

I would have to agree with Robert E. I don’t think that anybody overlooked the Golden Knights. I don’t want to diminish what they did. They beat everyone because they were better and when the opportunity was there to eliminate a team from the playoffs they stepped on their fucking throats and choked them out.

I’m NOT talking about the playoffs. I’m talking last years regular season. I have friends in the east that would tell me what the local media was saying about the Knights as they made their east coast swings last year. I just wish people would actually read what is written and understand the point being made. After we missed the playoffs in 2022 the east coast teams didn’t respect us at all. They do now!

      • Anand

I would have to respectfully disagree. I live in Toronto and watched Vegas play last year in Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit and Toronto and Long Island. Those fan bases were very complementary and a little envious as well of the Vegas Golden Knights.

I haven’t noticed any disrespect and couldn’t understand why it would exist to begin with since this team has played the second most playoff games since their existence in 2017. Only Tampa has played more playoff games. Again, I am an extrovert, and like to speak to people and spoke to dozens of people from all of those fan bases when I went to the games and I didn’t see any disrespect whatsoever.

I know how to read and I did read your post and I just read your second post, which said that after the golden knights missed the playoffs, the east coast teams didn’t respect them at all.

I live in the east, so I’m not relying on friends from the east. I own a television and Internet as well and know what the media was saying about Vegas. There was no disrespect. There was actually some fear last year that Vegas would sneak into the playoffs.

We will just agree to disagree. Or maybe you just don’t respect what I have to say but I feel like what I say is valid since I actually live and work in the eastern time zone and again I’ve spoken to the fan bases from Eastern conference teams.

  3. Anand

Jailbird, i’m not calling you a liar and saying that you are fabricating the fact that you have friends on the East Coast that told you that the media was disrespecting Vegas.

Stupid people exist. Maybe you have stupid friends or they were listening to stupid people that worked in the media. You would have to be stupid to disrespect a team that has played the second most playoff games since entering the league.

I am just telling you as someone who lives and works in the eastern time zone that that was not my experience at all. The fan bases and media of the cities that I went to the games all thought very highly of the Golden Knights.

  4. Anand

Jailbird, I think you would have to agree that there are a lot of stupid people around. I thought you were Canadian because of your constant use of the word “eh.” Maple Leafs fans think they have a good hockey team, so that is further proof of how stupid some humans are.

  5. Jose

Jailbird, I read your first comment and you said this. Copied and pasted.

“ As I mentioned a few days ago, the EC teams will play the Knights much tougher now. I think the Knights were overlooked quite a bit when they went east to play. Not anymore. I hope our fans realize that our boys will have to earn their points this year.”

You actually are insinuating that the East Coast teams lost to Vegas because they overlooked the Knights and you are criticizing Robert E for pointing that out.

You’re saying that the East Coast teams didn’t play the Knights hard and that Vegas didn’t earn the points. Your last sentence in particular, “ I hope our fans realize that our boys will have to earn their points this year.”

So they didn’t earn the points last year???

Jailbird, you are usually a levelheaded guy, but is it possible that maybe with the absence of the hockey God that you might be looking for an argument or someone be to argue with?

    • Woody

WOHA, what happened to the “Hockey God” ? The last time I was on this site, I actually complained about him and how he’s just a bully that just wants to send stupid ass clickbait comments to piss people off! I SERIOUSLY left this site because of him! AWESOME, now I can read ALL the comments again and not feel the need to go to my priest and confess of all my sins! I am SO happy right now!

Winter Classic should be fun. Let’s hope the ice is good and the weather holds up.

Lake Tahoe was absolutely visually beautiful, but the ice and quality of game was lacking.

    • Jailbird

Yea, can’t wait for the winter classic. Hope they can get the weather to help them out to have good ice.

  7. Jailbird

I’m not here to argue, as anyone would know from my time here. Also, my comments do not mean I think the Knights didn’t earn those wins. And, I said MEDIA made those comments, not my friends. But that’s fine. Dog days of summer here with little going on in the hockey world. I’ll stand by my comments and you stand by yours. Opinions are what this sight is about.

  8. Jailbird

I meant to say, Opinions are what this sight is about, EH ! 🙂

Love that picture, as it was my first of two ever games I’ve been to at T Mobile. A dazed Willy after being clocked by Reavo, as another Cap would be a key part to VGKs run this season looks on.
