2026 Golden Knights Draft Picks: Who Are These Guys?

(Photo Credit: SinBin.vegas Photographer Brandon Andreasen)

The Golden Knights started the Draft without a selection in the top 90 and just four picks overall. However, following the trade of Pavel Dorofeyev, along with a few moves down, they’ve restocked and will have a healthy crop of new prospects.

TRADE – VGK have acquired #26, #92, and a 2028 1st from New York Rangers for Pavel Dorofeyev

TRADE – VGK have acquired #28 and 2027 3rd from Montreal Canadiens for #26

TRADE – VGK have acquired #29 and #117 from Anaheim Ducks for #28

1st Round – #29 (from ANA)
Selection: Juho Piiparinen

One of the youngest players available in the Draft, Piiparinen is a right-handed, well-rounded defenseman. The 17-year-old Finn is a two-way player who skates well and plays with a high motor. He played 29 games as a professional in the Finnish Elite League and logged significant minutes in all situations.

The main thing that stands out in Piiparinen’s game is his exceptional poise and high-end puck management during breakout scenarios. When retrieving pucks under heavy forechecking pressure, he does not panic or blindly throw the puck away. Instead, he displays elite patience, using his strong frame to shield the puck from oncoming attackers, accepting heavy contact, and delivering crisp, precise, and highly accurate first passes to launch the transition attack. –Jeremy Rivet, McKeensHockey.com

He’s not overly physical, but he gives a solid effort and is often relied on by coaches. His offense will be the question at the next level. Given that he doesn’t truly excel at any one thing, there will be questions about his role as well. –Corey Pronman, The Athletic

Pronounced: You-ho Peep-er-en (Click here to hear him say his own name)

2nd Round – #63
Forfeited

3rd Round – #92 (from NYR)
Selection: Benjamin Wilmott

An overaged draft pick, the 19-year-old from Seattle is known as being a bulldog on the ice. He lives in front of the goal and thrives on moving players out of the way to create space for himself. His offensive game away from the goalmouth is far from exceptional, which projects him more as a bottom-six player. Went undrafted in each of the previous two NHL Drafts.

Wilmott is committed to play at Ohio State next season.

He’s a late bloomer which shows the continuous willingness to improve even when teams have passed him by before. He’s very competitive and has a physical presence to him that can translate to the next level. His versatility will also be attractive to teams as he can play in all important situations including key faceoffs and both special teams units. As with anyone at this stage, he needs to add speed to his game. He also needs to put in the work away from the puck. –The HockeyWriters.com

3rd Round – #95
Selection: Sean Burick

A 6’8″ defenseman, Burick’s main quality is, of course, his size. He’s described as a smooth skater with incredible reach that doesn’t rely on only on his stick to defend. There’s limited offensive upside and can by physically inconsistent, but when he hits someone, it hurts.

Committed to the University of Denver after playing last season in the WHL with the Penticton Vees.

His greatest asset is his reach, which he uses effectively to smother puck carriers, close gaps early in the neutral zone, and eliminate space in the defensive zone and off the rush. He displayed a physical edge with a few punishing hits, though his timing occasionally took him out of position. Offensively, Burick contributed with a heavy shot from the point and found ways to hold pucks in at the offensive blue line, but overall his puck decisions were inconsistent, at times showing vision, a plan and clean execution, while in other instances forcing plays or mishandling pucks under pressure. –NeutralZone.com

TRADE – VGK have acquired #113  from Montreal Canadiens for #117 and #223

4th Round – #113 (from MTL)
Selection: Jonah Sivertson

Another under-aged forward, Sivertson, is a sharp-shooter known most for his one-timer. The 17-year-old from Regina scored 24 goals and 53 points in 66 games with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL.

Not the best skater, but high IQ, plays gritty and a really good scorer. –Scott Wheeler, The Athletic

Sivertson is a 6-3 forward who brings a rare blend of size and puck skill. He handles difficult passes well, protects pucks through pressure, and can distribute quickly in tight areas to create space for teammates. In possession, he is comfortable working in traffic, using patience and soft hands to navigate into the high slot where he can attack with shot fakes and quick releases. His off-puck movement helps him find pockets of space, and his shot from the high slot is quick, accurate, and a clear strength. Skating is the main concern, limiting his forechecking effectiveness and causing issues defensively when tracking back. How his puck game translates against faster competition remains an open question. –Ryan Ma, DobberProspects.com

5th Round – #159
Selection: Will McLaughlin

A skilled defenseman who has a decent amount of offensive upside to his game. Committed to play at Colorado College next season.

He also featured on both the power play and penalty kill. He’s a rangy, mobile two-way D who made some skill plays one-on-one this year and walks the line with confidence (including under pressure). He has offensive smarts and offensive instincts. His shot doesn’t have a ton of pop, and I know it’s something he has worked on, but he also needs to do a ton of work in the gym, and there are things (the shot, more power in his stride, winning more battles) that will come when he does. –Scott Wheeler, The Athletic

6th Round – #191
Selection: Matthew Minchak

A big goaltender with strong fundamentals. Committed to play NCAA hockey at Colgate next season, Minchak posted a 2.91 goals against average in the OHL last season with Kingston.

His size is a clear asset. He fills the net naturally and does not need to overextend to make saves, and when he is square and set, he is difficult to beat cleanly. His positional play and tracking allow him to control first touches effectively, and his goals against are in line with expected metrics, meaning he is not giving up soft goals. However, there are still notable areas of concern that limit his projection: despite his size, he can play too deep in his crease, relying on his frame rather than challenging shooters, which can expose the net, and his puck play is a weakness, limiting his ability to create transition or aid breakouts. –NeutralZone.com

TRADE – VGK have acquired #207 from Detroit Red Wings for 2027 7th Round Pick

7th Round – #207
Selection: Noel Pakarinen

Born in Palo Alto, CA, the Finnish Pakarinen is a big forward with an excellent shot. He split time last year between the junior leagues and the Finnish Elite League. He is committed to Michigan Tech for the upcoming season.

To complement his shot, Pakarinen’s off-puck instincts allow him to effectively play off his teammates and find open pockets around scoring areas. -EliteProspects.com

  1. Interesting they gave up the only 30 plus goal scorer for who knows what. Not sure he was worth the 11 mill a year he got but good for him for cashing in. Hopefully Hill will be the next drop as Vegas can’t afford 6 plus Mill holding up one end of the bench. His best (if there ever was one) is long passed so hopefully they can find a team desperate enough to take on this liability.

  2. Abdullah

Yeah not one good goalie drafted, on the roster or at the minor league team – bad start for the no experience minor league coach

    • Henderson's Finest

You do know that in Henderson Lindbom was 2nd in the AHL in both save % and GAA? He is aggressive in net and does not play on his knees as much as Hart or Hill.

    • Henderson's Finest

Do you not know that Carl Lindbom was 2nd in the AHL in both save % and GAA? Seems like a pretty good netminder to me.

I can’t wait to find out what numbers all these new guys will be wearing! So exciting!

  4. Rrale

minny you should read your own posts. People like you are most do not post more. Now you can prove me right with your next post.
I would agree Doro is not wroth 11 million per season. Perhaps Ovechkin can help him improve next season, if Ovechkin plays.

People like you are most do not post more What the hell does that mean

  5. Rrale

    Sorry it should have read:

You can’t prove that Maybe you should take a Poll

      • vegasfaninpahrump

You can go to a crappy teams website like Columbus or Ottawa or Nashville & there will be 75-200 posts.

I was wondering why after a month engagement is so low here, its “Pistol Pete” with his repetitive ‘You are not allowed to be critical trust the front office’ fanaticism & the ‘boring Minny, not the funny one’ clogging up the boards & defending the lowlifes on the roster.

These two guys are killing this website.
Ill find a better Vegas website, goodbye.

TS Are you out there Haven’t heard from you in a while hope everything is well

    • TS

I’m still here, Minny. The intruder here is getting active again, trying to ignore it, but the idiot is persistent. Maybe a rat trap will get him!

  7. Canada

Another astute move by Kelly . He constantly is moving capital to find playoff studs. I agree with moving Hill but as a back up he might be better than what we will get so be careful for that of which you ask.
Anyone who thinks Doro should be a Knight doesn’t see the big picture . After he signs his big deal he will fold like a cheap suit . He wont have Eichel Stone and Marner to put it on the middle of his stick. Always advance , looks like Kelly is scoping out some big mean D- men . One of the major reasons we didn’t get to lift the cup .
I have been listening to Stan Bowman with all this Babcock talk, not a strong GM. In my opinion . I think he is the real reason Oilers will still be in trouble, Babs will give them a lift but without 4 lines they are still doomed . He has only been able to assemble two good lines at his best , i would look for the relationship with Babs and Bowman to be stressed by Christmas, hope Katz keeps Bowman for a long time . We are fortunate to have Kelly he is head and shoulders above the average GM. i suspect when he retires The knights dominance may be in jeopardy.

  8. Henderson One

Where are we going to get the goals?

    • Henderson's Finest

My guess is one of the main reasons Craig was hired is so he can fill the bottom 6 with Henderson players like Bowman, Connelly, and Lavoie (if they resign him). Hopefully they also sign Laczynski.

      • knights fan in minny

I agree henderson’s finest bowman and Connolly need to start playing regular NHL time Unless they’re getting traded

  9. Canada – are you the new PR guy for Mccrimmon, the replacement for pistol Pete??. Interesting comment about PD folding like a cheap suit – apparently the rangers don’t think so to give him 11 mil a year for 7. They can’t afford Hill as a backup for 6 plus mil a year so question that logic. The problem is finding a team willing to take on that liability. There is more to the Babcock guy than meets the eye – l wonder if he is a short time fill in like Tort was?.

    • SMH

The Rangers were the worst team in the Eastern Conference this past season, and the last time they won a Cup was 1994 (32 years ago), and last time they went to a Finals was 2014. Since 2018, VGK has been to 3 finals and won a Cup. So I will take the judgement of McCrimmon & McPhee over the Rangers (and virtually every other team) every single fucking day!

      • SMH – This had nothing to do withj judgement – there was no way they were going to pay PD that kind of money and he held their feet to the fire. There is no way he is worth that kind of $$$$$$s but good for him someone stepped up – here are a few on the Knights that fall into that same situation worth the $$$$s I am referring to. Their superior judgement has put them in Cap hell. Explain how Hill was was worth a 6.5 mil extension for 5 years or the elite Lehner another prime example.

  10. Bill S

Agree McCrimmon was astute enough to make the best deal he could for draft picks once it became clear Vegas could get nowhere near what the Rangers or the NHL market would pay Dorofeyev as an RFA. Vegas is already quite top-heavy with contracts and simply needs to create more cap space. Look for more trades. Wouldn’t be surprised if Hertl, Hill and possibly Karllson are in the mix if Vegas makes a move to get Dylan Larkin. It is doubtful Dorofeyev will have the success he had in Vegas with the drop off in the quantity and quality of the setups he will get in New York.

    • knights fan in minny

      While Bill has to stay

      • Abdullah

        “While” Bill?

        • knights fan in minny

It was a misfire stupid figure It out I know you’re not very smart You made that comment just to Be a **smart*ass

          • Abdullah

That other guy is right – regular posters are down from around 10 to about 5-6 mostly because of you -no poll needed.

        • TS

Hey, Abdullah, do you yet understand it is YOU and your fake buds who disrupt and drive posters away???
Come on, man. Just GO AWAY. Find a new hobby.

  11. CANADA

When you watch Doro play every night you could see some gm could get caught up in the regular season numbers . If they watched him in playoffs diffrent story . Unless he mans up hes history . Comments on Kelly are after watching Boman for a week just saying hes a poser compared to Kelly.

  12. Pistol Pete

One would have be oblivious to reality to not be supportive of the McPhee/McCrimmon FO. In nine years they missed the playoffs once, winning five division titles, three conference titles and one Cup. They did this without high draft picks. With this quick Dorofeyev trade they were awarded picks they would have to wait longer to get with the long drawn out offer sheet process. Armed with a 2028 first round pick they can move at their pace to execute a big acquisition if in fact that is what they have in mind. They probably have something up their sleeve, Dylan Larkin perhaps. They need a long term second line center to replace the aging and increasingly injury prone William Karlsson. Let’s see how this unfolds.

    • Pistol Pete

In fact we have two 2028 first round picks (ours plus the one from the Rangers for Dorofeyev).

      https://www.prosportstransactions.com/hockey/DraftTrades/Future/GoldenKnights.htm\

This team would not be where it is today with all the success it’s had without trading draft picks and prospects to acquire high end veteran talent. The team never finishes low enough in the standings to get top five picks, therefore expect this veteran acquisition roster maintenance process to continue indefinitely. After the conclusion of the 2027-28 season McDavid, Matthews, and Werenski will all become UFA’s and there will be plenty of cap space. If we can just acquire Dylan Larkin and ideally keep Hertl as 3C we should be able to preserve cap space over the next couple seasons, The cap will keep going up and we will be able to retire a significant portion of Stone and Karlsson’s $15.4m
