Recap: For the fifth time in five games against the Sharks, the Golden Knights scored the first goal of the game. Defenseman Shea Theodore gave Vegas the early 1st period lead and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 11 shots from San Jose. After the opening twenty minutes the Golden Knights led 1-0.
The Sharks turned up the pressure in the second period. San Jose rifled 16 shots and scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. The Golden Knights left the front of the net undefended and the Sharks took advantage.
Trailing 3-1 the Golden Knights came out focused for the final period. Cody Glass got Vegas within one scoring on the power play, and Nic Hague tied the game 3-3 with his third of the season. Ryan Reaves had an earlier goal taken back due to goaltender interference but he scored the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period to give Vegas a 4-3 lead. San Jose would get one back but Alec Martinez added an insurance goal late in the period to close the door on the Sharks.
With their comeback 5-4 victory against San Jose, Vegas’ record improves to 20-6-1. The Golden Knights take a short trip to Los Angeles to faceoff against the King’s for the next two games. Friday night’s game is scheduled for 7 PM PT.(Recap by Jason)
Analysis: In what may have been the weirdest game of the season, the result ended up being what we figured it would have been coming in, we just got there a much different way. The 4th line led the way as the only consistent offensive line for the first two periods and then added a goal in the 3rd. Fights from Stone and Marchessault. Goals from Glass, Hague, Reaves, and Martinez. Weird, weird, and weirder, but sometimes that’s what it takes and this Golden Knights team just will not lose to the Sharks. (Analysis by Ken)

In the end, the weirdest game of the season ends the way so many others in VGK vs SJS regular season history end.
With a Golden Knights win in regulation.

What in the hell is this game? VGK PK can't come through now?
Bizzaro world keeps getting more bizzare.

And the Sharks have imploded.
As I said earlier tonight, they were not here for hockey tonight. VGK took the bait for 2 periods. They got back to being the way better team in the 3rd.

I don’t know what to say. I guess we can agree that The Knights just never quit. They kept coming ! Fights, penalties, power plays and goals, that’s why we love hockey. This game had everything. We looked terrible about half the game, but boy did we pour it on big time. We got 2 points and we are now getting a little separation, a little breathing room in the standings.. A fun game to watch on a lazy Wednesday night !! Go Knights !!

Did Ken really just give props to Reavo AND the 4th line??!! Bizarro world, indeed!

I’d do it every night if it were the case. Look at Stone and Fleury.

great comeback win ! the Knights fought back, Literally. Stone and Marchy lit the fuse, and the role players, the foot soldiers, stepped up and provided some clutch offense.
that Reaves goal that was overturned was worth it, because Carrier charging the net is exactly the way that the Knights need to play all the time, especially the bottom 6 forwards.
always nice to harpoon the hated Sharks.
THE hockey GOD
sharks completely collapsed and it’s on the coach, he be gone by end of season.
sharks have decent enough team, but come on, the ‘sharks are circling’ for this coach’s head
they are still “shark bitten” from letting PDB go!
i am thinking up of some more, wait for it
you never ever ever fight or engage or give other team something when leading by two goals especially in third period, especially when clock is ticking down
too many men on ice
two fighting majors , sharks have stones for brains.
The old time hockey GOD
Old Time Hockey yeah baby !
Nothing like a couple of fights to spark an otherwise dead duck, or perhaps zombies on ice is better term for one side of the ice, to describe the second period.
That loss is strictly on the Shark’s coach. The Shark’s have a decent team. But come on ! Too many men ? Then the team gets into fights , when they are ahead ? Younbvever, ever ever ever ever want to give the other other team something to build on.
Then you have two yazoo articles about the Sharks, one written by Yazoo write who never plays the games and doesn’t know squat about the game. A Bay area writer, say no more. The writer wrote something to effect that Hertl’s first time ever fight against Stone “showed character”. Well I disagree. It shows stupidity. Like in game before in which Reaves , rightly so, refused to engage and then was called out on it. (note Karma in play as Reaves scores game tying goal).
Then the second article about Sharks goalie wanting out. He’s a decent goalie, but doesn’t appear to be “team player”. OR maybe I just misread his actions after the goals, but he sure as heck gets mad after giving up a goal. I thought he would injury himself when he was banging everything in sight. Too bad we have the Walrus ( am I the only one who thinks that Walrus looks like that you tube guy who goes around LA video taping the homeless in Venice and other day he went to OJ Simpson’s scene of his demise in West LA). His contract is up and he wants to go to a contender. He’d be a good pick up for any team.

no. 14 unsung surprise this year, flying under the radar
big d man from sharks threw him down from behind in scrum, not good , because well he went to throw down a sharks player from behind
hopefully he learned from that event and didn’t get hurt

SJ sharks are a retirement home for old, over the hill bums with weird beards.
3 dmen, $27 million cap hit, with a combined minus 18, and 3 even strength goals all season.
A mediocre team with a mediocre future ahead.

anyone catch the last shift(s) in prior game when Tuch got hurt, for some reason my feed switched to rerun of Green Acres on Me Tv.
sigh.

The TV switching on you may be a sign there is some concern about referencing yourself as god. Stay alert you never know what might be coming next.

Hague is definitely a keeper. With Coghlan not far behind.
THE hockey GOD
yeah hague needs to learn to be aware of who is on ice during a scrum and where to position yourself to be avoid being body slammed to ice by BURNS
but that is old time hockey sense, and you don’t see it any more because bettman and NHL has sissyfied the game so much in past two decardes
Pistol Pete
I’m liking that all VGK D are offensive. It’s a big piece in winning a Cup.
Pistol Pete
We can revisit this after Monday’s game, but so far switching Krug for Petro has not been a difference maker for the Blues. Although Krug’s numbers thus far this season are decent albeit a bit under his career average offensively, one still might question the wisdom of moving Petro out. VGK just beat the Blues and Krug twice at St. Louis without Petro. In any case it will be interesting if the VGK play the Blues in the post season, Petro vs. Krug.
Pistol Pete
I may eat these words down the road, but DeBoer is a very smart coach who may have found the team and city from which he can he can finally coach a sustained run ie., a dynasty.
Pistol Pete
In the NHL the players are so good that any team can win on a given game. That is certainly applies to the Kings who are a very dangerous opponent. The VGK need to bring their game tonight and Sunday.
Pistol Pete
I am guessing Lehner will start Sunday so Fleury can play the back-to-back vs. the Blues Monday.
